Mirch Masala has a great lunch buffet with many, many foods to choose from. Just one dish had a slight bit of heat and everything was very delicious. For only $15 you can try so many different dishes! I'm not sure that our buffet line started on the correct end, as the dishes that would normally be served on rice came before the rice. But no worries, as having the rice next to the chicken Tikka masala is just as awesome! Our server was tending to the entire lunch crowd, in addition to seating and settling checks, and she did it with a smile. She was awesome. My friend and I both plan to return to Mirch Masala.

I wish I can rate them better. The owners and the waitress seem genuinely wanting to help and were rushing to take care of you but they are severely short staffed. If you go- expect a long wait. On top of that I didn't find the flavors of the curry out of the ordinary. We ordered the non veg dinner for 2 which came with a chicken pakora appetizer, lamb curry, chicken tandoori, butter chicken, rice, naan and a desert. Naan wasn't fresh out of the oven. The portion size was good. I asked for spicy but it was no way near spicy. Our saving grace was the hot homemade Chilli sauce they gave us. The prices by the way are way cheaper than the usual west side Indian restaurants. There was plenty of food for the cost of this meal. They gave us gulab Jamun as the desert which is one of worse I have had in Madison. Sadly- it wasn't even sweet and traditionally this sweet dish is extremely sweet. I really want to go back and try this place again in order to support our local businesses. Hopefully- they will resolve their staffing shortage!

Lunch buffet first plate! Chicken tiki masala so good, noodles, beef curry, etc.

Awesome daily Indian lunch buffet on Madison west side! Met my friend from India there for lunch as to get his take and he enjoyed it too, and was happy for the vegetarian options. Me being a carnivore American loved everything, from the chicken tiki masala to the mimosas that were top notch. Everything was fresh and abundant. Read a couple lesser reviews and obvious these peeps are clueless. They had a spicy chicken dish which was like an Indian kung pao, spicy and damn good. The noodle dish was fantastic. Indian white rice and a yummy tomato rice. Lots of other delicious dishes as well. Plenty to choose from, plenty of food, they were not low on anything, loved the naan and chutneys. Look, I love Swagat, Swad, Maharana, but for the price and the quality, combined with the selection, Mirch Masala rocked it!

The lunch buffet is authentic!!! Will definitely recommend it if you are trying to find authentic indian food in madison!! The service is very good!! They recently moved from State Street to a quieter place near West Towne Mall. Definitely recommend it!!!

samosa chaat, layered samosas and fried chickpeas with a red sauce and yogurt sauce. so good!

Great food & service. Butter chicken, lamb vindaloo & onion naan all excellent. Let's support a small local business.

It's been far too many years since my previous visit to this place…read more But last night I ended that. A sudden wave of needing a spicy curry or vindaloo overcame my emotions. Next thing I knew I was in the parking lot and searching for Swagat. Because it was a Monday night it had only 3-4 tables of customers, so my order was ready before I was even thinking about it taking too long. The service was very friendly and personable as well. Suggestions were made while I was trying to decide what the last Indian dish I last had, and I'm relieved he suggested what he did. Vindaloo. Spicy beef and make it your top spice level. He started to caution me, but I was very intent about my capsaicin intake. Dall was me secondary items, yellow, and only at the middle point for heat. Plain naan. Very simple and direct. Upon returning home the scent was enormously delicious and inviting. The delicate long grain rice was perfectly cooked and such a subtle item to be actually a star on the dish, rather than a simple starch to take up space. Potatoes were large and delicate while firm. Beef, velvety soft and still not losing its texture. The yellow lentils were a bit different than I'd expected. I last enjoyed them ages ago and my recall was that they still held some of their form. These were cooked further down, not in an unpleasant or overly aggressive manner, just different than I was expecting. Delicious. Beautifully colorful, saffron(?) I'm unsure. Naan. Another item that deserves a starring role in a meal. This was far better than any of the recent times at either of the two nearby Indian restaurants that I've been spending more time than I now think I plan to in the coming months and years. Tonight I'm enjoying the food from last nights dinner. Should've taken some pics. But take out meals aren't artfully prepared. So they don't really matter anyway.

A hard, beetle-shaped thing that I bit in the vegetable biryani. It appeared to have antennae, but could've been a fruit.

Everything we tried was outstanding. The restaurant has two floors which may lead for a tad slower service on a busy night as people go up and down the stairs. I enjoy the throwback signs of restaurants of old. Plants and artwork broke up the space, feeling both open yet cozy. We started with a few apps-bison momo, samosa, and pakoda. The samosa had an incredibly flaky crust that was stellar. The momo was next level. The accompanying sauce brought a little heat but every bite left you wanting more. For our main course, we opted for the lamb kabobs as well as the biriyani. The lamb was executed perfectly-a great char with tender meat, it was accompanied by a nice rice pilaf. The dish was substantial as was the biriyani. Flavor packed, it hit all the notes. For those new to Madison or unfamiliar to the area, Ama is set back off the road with a very small/tight parking lot. We opted for street parking vs. trying to jenga ourselves out of there. A must visit.
