Ordered 1.5 hours in advanced and when I went to pick up the order it was still not ready. They had to even look up my order and had to find out what I ordered. Very disappointed. Never order from their website or expect for your order to be delayed no matter the time. The best Indian restaurant I've been to in/near Madison! The service was extremely quick, and there was a lot of seating. Well-decorated and they were playing some Indian shows as entertainment. Their chutney was really flavorful. I got the chicken mango curry with medium spice, but it could have been spicier. For dessert, I tried the rasamalai and it was really good and flavorful. We sampled the mixed grill and the ubiquitous Chicken Tikki Marsala. We also had an order of garlic naan. Everything was really really good. The service was fantastic. As we left the host who may have been the owner was incredibly gracious and kind to my father and I as we left - thanking us for visiting his restaurant and asking us how everything was... inviting us to come back soon. I'm very happy to have Amber in the neighborhood. After many years this part of Middleton is beginning to feel like a real neighborhood again with proper local amenities. Lunch here today. Lamb mango, chicken mango, and chicken tikka masala. Garlic naan for bread. Everything was delicious and served in generous portions. Plenty of basmati rice to go with it. Were touring UW Madison and went there for dinner. We ordered the Desi chicken curry, Bhuna gosht and butter chicken. Loved every one of the dishes. This is from someone who lives in NJ and works in NYC. Food was tasty but not greasy. The complimentary papad in the beginning and the mango ice cream at the end is a nice touch! Food was amazing! They have multiple choices of spice leves ranging from mild-spicy. The food was amazing and the naan was sooooo good. Service was spectacular, they made sure to fill up our water and check on us very often. Some of my favorite Indian food on the west side/Middleton area! The amount of food you get for the price is mind boggling. I have left overs for days after getting Amber takeout. The food is really unmatched. They might have the best garlic naan on the west side. Service is always fast. I appreciate the ability to select your desired spice levels per dish. This is the best Indian restaurant I tried in Madison. I took out dinner from here. Garlic naan was good as always. Kashmiri naan is a good variety to try with fruits and sweet things stuffed in it. We were at Amber on a Saturday evening, September 2025. Moderately busy. Service was amazing and friendly. Ordered samosas, pakoras, and keema naan, and then split a wonderful mixed tandoori grilled platter. It included shrimp, chicken (tandoori and tikka), with seekh kebab. With beer, a pina colada, and complimentary mango ice cream, total bill was right around fifty bucks. Probably the best Indian meal we've ever had -- highly recommend based on choice, flavors, service, and value. read more

It appears the sit down bar area wasn't a very big draw to the drinking crowd, as it's no longer a thing. The liquor is still available and right where it was, but the bar seating is not. A last minute decision to get myself something that I've not had enough of lately, namely chicken and rice. I've been on a diligently followed seafood and vegetable diet for around 5-6weeks with only one previous deviation when pizza was demanding my attention and consumption. Chicken breasts are all too often overcooked and tonight I was amazed at the consistency and texture of the white meat in my vindaloo dish. I can't recall the last time I've been served such a well prepared chicken breast! The HOT spiciness I was assured, was precisely as promised. The last time I received what I was told would be a above the typical level of fire, I was sorely disappointed when I took a few bites and it never registered to the receptors in my mouth or brain that any sensation of pain was ever going to arrive. Tonight the capsaicin was delivered and my body and brain are again in a state of heightened bliss. The garlic naan was a little of a (only superficially) let down. It's short confinement in the aluminum foil made it a bit too 'damp'. Damp isn't the correct word, but it's the word I'm stuck on. The bread was very tasty and tender, but the steamy conditions inherent when sealed inside a non porous package essentially make this an issue with no real alternative. One of the very types of reasons I will NEVER rely on grub hub or it's kind. While I maintain that ethic for nearly any food item that I'd have such a place deliverer to me, I suppose Chinese food would be the sole exception. Cold Chinese food is still a must in my opinion. But that's not really relevant to tonight. Amber is still perhaps my favorite restaurant in this immediate area. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!! AMBER DESERVES ZERO STARS We went to Amber Cuisine yesterday and had a really bad experience. The picture included here is off the server who misbehaved with us. We were party of seven and had made reservations ahead of tim for 8 pm dinner. We got there at 7:54 pm. Few things to note we had reservation so they new a big group was coming and there was only three other tables occupied then. The person in the picture took our order a good 20-25 minutes after we were seated. We ordered appetizer and also main course. Ordered a plain dosa for my kid, after that was done we asked for another one. The server rudely tells me in Hindi 'you can't keep ordering, you have to order all at once' I said my child is hungry and we would like to order another one, he said " this is not how you order' really rudely. When we he called out his rude behavior he started misbehaving and walked away. We asked the other server to pack our food and we paid and left. While we we were waiting for our food to get packed we could hear him talking to somebody really loud in his language about the incident. We informed him that we would report his behavior and he said go do it The other servers were apologetic for his behavior and said we would report him. But there was no restaurant manager or host who came and spoke to us about the incident. This kind of service is not acceptable DON'T GO TO AMBER! read more

One of my favorite Indian restaurants used on be on Odana rd, but closed a few years ago. The same owners opened Amber cuisine. I was elated to see the papadum were of the same quality as the previous restaurant. The malai kofta is perfection. Their lunch buffet provides a lot great options to try. Great place for groups and kids. Their beverage selections offered have some definite gems for those that want to go nonalcoholic or with alcohol. read more

We often bring guests to the buffet, and they are always so impressed with the variety and how fresh and delicious the food is. Nice Indian restaurant in Middleton. Wide selection of food including indo-chinese choices. I settled for the lamb biriyani. That's ok e of my go-to to gauge how good and authentic their food is. Comes with papadum with the usual tamarind, onions and mint sauces. Great start to a meal. Space is big and lunch crowd was decent. I asked to be seated with one by empty booth between me and be the next first to keep some distance. The new staff was hesitant until the senior staff said it was OK. Biriyani is a way way to see if they know how to season the rice. It was ok. The rice was a little wet. The yogurt sauce that came with the be dish was good. Has just the be right level of sourness. The rice wasn't as flavorful as another restaurant i recently visited. The lamb meat was fantastic. Chunky and tender. The portion was also very large so expect to bring some home. I'm still coming back to try a goat to dish next. I do wish the Indian spices were more infused into the food. read more

The food is amazing! I absolutely love the lamb curry. I also appreciate that they have a mild option for people like me who can't handle the heat. When dining in, there is plenty of space and the service is efficient and friendly. The one downside occurs when you order your food for pick up. The timing for pick ups is hit or miss, and you could be left waiting for your food long after the estimated time of pick. Since I haven't experienced this delay when eating in person or getting delivery, my guess is that pick up orders are deprioritized during busy times. That being said the food and price are worth the pickup delays. read more

Our August visit to Amber Indian Cuisine was our third. We were introduced to the restaurant by friends and like it so much we plan on monthly visits. The food and the service are excellent, and the location makes it easy for us to get into and out of the facility with my wife's large-sized walker. This is a really good authentic Indian restaurant. I'd say the best time to go is when they have their buffet open. Service is pretty good. I ordered the chicken mango, and it was very good! I also got naan bread with it. It was delicious! They have many different options for naan, including rosemary, garlic and more. For dessert I got mango ice cream, which was sweet, creamy and had a real mango flavor. If you are thinking about getting Indian food, I recommend dining here. read more

"Poor service for pickup" - The food is amazing but.. 2x now we have ordered online for pickup and showed up at the time given in the email. Both times I waited 40+ min. Both time we were missing items. They did make it right the first time after I had to come back, and this time they offered to get like meal another day because it was late and I didn't want to go back. Super inconvenient... I am very disappointed all we get is sorry but someone in our family doesn't get their dish! It seems basic enough and I understand it's a busy place but they need to run the front of the house better. I noticed the online orders come in on a different machine and they don't seem to check it. I'm pretty sure they never even stated my order until I pointed out I'd been waiting forever. After this second experience we will think very hard about ordering from here again.. which again is disappointing because the food is really good. read more

i ordered a dinner with biriyani for thirty people and surprised to have such massive servings (was good for 40 people) so i had soo much leftovers. the garlic naan was sooo good, kinda wish i'd gotten a curry instead bc it would've been yummy to the naan in the curry. we also ordered the chicken 65, which was boneless chicken deep fried & marinated in indian spices!! The food was neither very spicy nor hot. For dessert, we got the gulab jamoon - it was like a ball of dough in honey/sugar. In addition Cookies, Mango lassy and ice cream were also served. People who areived after me got their food when I didnt. Apparently they had been backed up all day and neglected to put it on the website or let anyone know. Service was very good. Two of us enjoyed our curry dishes, our third party did not enjoy his food. We were all extremely disappointed, as we had all been big fans of their lunch buffet before the pandemic. (See my 9/9/2018 review). I saw a review elsewhere that indicated the buffet was back, so I contacted/emailed the restaurant to confirm that it was. I was told by Bala Polachi that the lunch buffet was back. HOWEVER, I was NOT informed that it was ONLY back on LIMITED days and to our great dismay we found out there was NO buffet, today! They need to improve their communication. read more

I made a pick up order through GrubHub and arrived very early, but I only had to wait a few minutes (makes me think it would have been sitting there for a while otherwise). Garlic Naan was delicious, Mutter Paneer was very good. I selected 'medium' for the spice level and I'd compare that to a medium-hot salsa level. I enjoyed it! read more

AMBER IS MY FAVORITE INDIAN SPOT IN MADISON. Yup, I know that's a big commitment, but I mean it! The staff are so, so friendly -- and they're always there at the right moment to make sure your water's topped off (VERY important with the spicy stuff!) without hovering too much. My gentleman and I come here at least twice a month. Come for the buffet in the afternoons -- it's got fare for everyone from vegetarians to die-hard, stubbornly unexplorative Westerners and everything in between. Don't forget the coconut soup!! YUM!! Dinner here is just as good -- and we've never had a losing dish. Whatever you choose, it will be amazing. And what I REALLY like is that when you tell them you want it HOT, they discuss just to make sure you don't mean "Midwestern hot" -- and when you actually want HOT, they deliver. That's so rare and valuable around here! I'm a big fan of the veggie navarhatna (sp?) korma. My gentleman likes the Rogan Josh. Sometimes we go rogue and order other things and we've never been disappointed. Bathrooms are clean and tidy. There's one TV above the host's podium that plays Bollywood movies and music videos -- it's distracting, but I love it. Parking can get dicey -- just be careful because the lot is shared with the co-op -- and you know how those hippies drive! ;) read more
