I would not recommend coming here. Owner has zero ambition, energy, or personality. He ignores people coming in and acts rude to them, while have the speed of a snail. I even came in to pick up and order and he was passed out on the couch. I startled him awake when I turned my flashlight to see the order receipt. Good northern Indian cuisine, must be Muslim because there's Halal cow meat choices. Good poori, two kinds of dal, lots of chicken curry choices. I like their fish curry. You might not like the service if you're Gora or high caste, but I like the competent no-nonsense waitstaff. They make chai (remember, chai means tea, so it's not "chai tea" if it's authentic) to order so that will take 20 minutes as it should. Good prices, and they will make it spicy if you ask and you look South Asian. Every time I've been here there's been someone reading some Postmodernist material, so it attracts that kind of overeducated radical crowd for whatever reason. We went for dinner with friends from our of state. Everyone enjoyed their meals (we basically shared and tasted everything). The serving staff were efficient and friendly. We had one vegan in our party and the server was very accommodating, going so far as to exchange his roti for a new order without butter. The buttered chicken was very good. We also ordered appetizers. The restaurant overall was clean and tidy. Staff was busy cleaning up and arranging the lunch buffet area. Bathrooms were a bit dated and could maybe use some deep cleaning in 'problem' areas, but otherwise we'll stocked. read more

Really surprised to see so many negative reviews of this place. I've dined in and had food delivered dozens of times and I've never had a bad experience. All these people complaining about service..did you forget that we are still in a pandemic? This really kind of blows my mind. I don't need my servers to kiss my ass though, maybe that's the difference. ANYWAY.. I have always had good service here. And excellent food. I've had quite a lot of the menu and there's not a single thing I wouldn't recommend. My only complaints: everything is so tasty I always end up overeating and slipping into a food coma for a solid 12 hours after eating here. And a few times I have ordered samosa and receive pakora instead, which is annoying but both are delicious. Literally one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city. Don't listen to the haters. As an Indian the food was really mid. Okay for white people I guess but not for Indians who miss home. I've had my doubts about trying an Indian restaurant that serves beef, and it looks like my doubts were well founded. Flavorful! Maharani brings incredible and interesting flavors by using incredible spices and ingredients. Indian food can be hit or miss depending on how much love and care is put into it, and Maharani gives you their all. Prices are typical for an Indian restaurant, about $15 for an entre (which includes rice). While this can sometimes fee expensive, I have always been able to make two meals out of it! Indian cuisine even better the next day! By far my favorite place that my girlfriend and I get take out from. We love getting dinner from here and we will continue to come back. read more

Only my second experience with Indian food. Everything was delicious! I had the Tandoor chicken which was beautifully seasoned. They ask you how you want it (mild or spicy). The mild had a slight kick, nothing dangerous! I tried the butter chicken (excellent) and some cooked cheese dish with vegetables which was nice and spicy too. The papadam crackers and naan bread was tasty as well. You are served some dipping sauces with the papadam. The rice that accompanied everything was Basmati. Their door was cracked open and their curry sauces were on the floor with no lids. That apartment is known for having roaches.

Totally worth it if you're looking to try a bunch of things and not looking to spend too much money. For dinner, I think I've always gotten the Chicken Tikka Masala. I have never been let down by it. They offer three levels of spiciness - mild, medium, and hot. The server didn't seem to understand my request for somewhere between mild and medium. Came here for Brunch/Lunch buffet on Sunday. Overall I think it's OKAY Indian food, definitely decent value for the $12 buffet price! They had a somewhat decent variety of foods. There is a small salad section, and you have the option of a variety of meats (breaded fish, tandoori chicken and etc...). There are a couple of Indian specific apps like vegetable samosa. There were also a couple of options for curry (maybe 4 or 5), and my go to is always the butter chicken or the tikka masala. A waiter also comes around and serves you naan The desserts (if you have room after a couple of plates of goodies) are also decent as well. I had the mango ice cream, rice pudding I'd be curious to come back and try their normal menu. I would consider this somewhat americanized indian food, but I enjoyed various plates. MMMM MM! So yummy! I visited Maharani this weekend for brunch on Saturday. It was DELICIOUS! I really enjoy Indian food, but as someone who is not really all that familiar with it yet, buffets are the way to go. I can sample and try things without committing to an entire entree and risk not liking it. Maharani had a very decent selection of things to choose from. I was able to find lots of delicious foods to try. We were there around noon. The restaurant was pretty busy - most tables were full. We didn't have any wait though, and there was never a rushed feeling like they were trying to get us in and out. They came around often to refill our water glasses. I wish we would have gotten more Naan, but that wasn't a huge issue. The Naan was just SO GOOD. Parking can be difficult in this area. There are metered spots on the opposite side of the block that we were able to grab one of. That was nice as we didn't have to cross any streets. I will be back for sure! read more

We wanted to try it since we've never been here before, and we used to love doing buffet style Indian food before covid creeped its head into everyone's lives. Anyways, the food was ok. The other Indian buffets we've been to before we're better for sure (Haveli, Swagat, Swad). Really disappointed in the flavor and thickness of the chicken tiki masala which I think is a stable for most Indian restaurants. Went here last night for my first try of Indian food. The restaurant was very nice-white linens, nice subtle authentic music, full bar and nicely dressed staff. They bring out an appetizer of thin crispy bread with 3 sauces. (Equivalent to chips and salsa) -very tasty The menu is HUGE lots of meat and vegetarian options. I went with a lamb option that was cooked in cream with herbs and spices-delicious. We also ordered a naan bread filled with potatoes, onions and cheese, served warm. So good. For drinks they have Indian Beer (which I'm excited to try next time), and specialty cocktails. I ordered the chai martini. It was good but not the best I ever had. Overall this place is a hit if you want some authentic Indian cuisine. I will be back to try more! read more
