I like the carry out lunch buffet option that goes by weight! I got the perfect amount of food. No more no less. We will go back when we are hungrier to get the full experience but here are my thoughts on the food in the buffet. -Butter chicken: Very good and flavorful -Vegetable Masala: Also good. I came in on a Tuesday and the place was near empty. Within a few minutes I was the only one in the entire restaurant which I found slightly odd for the lunch hour. The buffet lunch was A-OK. The salad bar was nice and had fresh items including some fruit. Tandoori Chicken was fairly flavorful as was the Tikka Masala. The Saag was lacking something and just tasted like straight up spinach. The Naan came out fresh to the table which was awesome. It was a bit more thin and crispy than I'm used to but still decent. A couple mixed veggie dishes and some chicken curry that was a touch iffy. All in all it was a decent quick meal. Yup the food is good. The buffet is a good value, the Butter Chicken is one of the best in town. But holy cow(pun intended) the service here is.... well...I'm not sure there is any service here actually. For lunch You'll probably be greeted at the door, seated, have someone pour water(maybe) and then not see a soul until you pay your bill. Dinner isn't much better, if you're lucky maybe the server won't be outright surly, if you're really lucky they may even take your drink order and if you're super dooper really lucky they'll even bring you your drink before you're done eating. read more

Have eaten here so many times that honestly it doesnt feel like eating out when i eat here. I remember at one point i was eating Biryani bi weekly here. The food overall is definitely above average. The lunch buffets are solid and value for money. They have pakoras, tandoori chicken, kheer/gulab jamuns , couple of non vegetarians and vegetarian currys.I in particular enjoy the kheer. I have also done take-outs multiple time and love that its super quick(less than 15 mins). The place is medium sized and the vibe inside is pretty decent with soft indian music playing. Initially I saw the Yelp reviews for this place and decided to give it a try. It was in a decent location and the prices looked fair. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and asked if we were interested in buffet or to see a menu. We briefly looked at the buffet and decided to go with that option. They had an average selection of food, but not too large. I grabbed naan, butter chicken, and tandoori chicken. The naan was totally dry, at one point probably fresh however not at this point. After we had just finished our first plate, our waiter came over to let us know the buffet was over.. it would have been nice to know before he had asked if we wanted to do buffet or the menu. Probably why everything was so dry/old. It was only 1pm too. I don't think I would go back to this place, especially not for the buffet. read more

I contacted the restaurant and they literally told me they did not care. Grubhub claimed that the driver contacted me but could not provide any evidence. Delicious! They are inclusive to vegetarians/vegan. Although their menu says vegetables or tofu, you can ask for both and they accommodate without issue. The garlic naan is a little dry, I would skip next time. But the curries, butter, and tiki masala are amazing!!!! Family-owned and centrally located, this is probably the best Indian on Capitol Hill. (Okay, that's probably not saying much as the Indian food selection on the Hill is rather limited, but bear with me here.) The decor is rather 'generic Nice Indian Restaurant' but it's clean and just slightly upscale with enough 'Nice' touches. The prices are slightly higher than average, which is understandable given the location. Rent can't be cheap on the strip! However, the service is great and the food is really wonderful. The woman who's served us both times was personable and genuinely friendly, and the food came out promptly, the water was refilled as needed and the bill came on time. Garlic naan is delicious. Samosas are good, butter chicken is delicious. We've ordered the tandoori shrimp twice, and the first time it was mind-blowingly good and the second time it was kind of bland. Chalked it up to an off night. Everything else has been consistently solid. As Yelp puts it, 'Yay! I'm a fan'. read more

Mirch Masala never disappoints. I've never eaten in, but have ordered delivery countless times before and during covid. The food is always hot, well packaged, the portions are large, and I always have leftovers (that reheat well). They did not give chutney with the paneer tikka which made it very bland. Tikka masala curry was pretty average. I got the Goa Coconut Curry with chicken and Lassi. Wow. The lassl is basically a mango smoothie. It is relentless it's pure fresh mango and creaminess. The curry was made to perfect with bold savory flavors and a deep complexity combining with the very well balanced coconut. All the folks who work there have been polite, nice, and punctual. These Guys Get It Dining room is open, clean with ample seating and not crowded. Food is good with ample portions. When my mask broke, I offered to buy one, and they gave me one refusing any fee. They were happy to let customers use the rest room and wanted all of us to be glad we came there. As the fast on their feet team served us, they also kept up with takeout orders, and a healthy stream of those customers were each obviously happy with what they got. A few years back I tried this place, under previous management, and remembered only that I didn't want to go back. Some time during my Yelping adventures, I decided that I was going to visit all the Indian lunch buffets I could find. I had never been to one I didn't like, and that trend seemed to be continuing. Mirch Masala on Broadway had always caught my eye; their lunch buffet goes from 11 AM to 3 PM, and I'm never in the area at that time! I finally just decided to settle down and try one of their dinner entrees. Can't be too much different from their lunch offerings, right? I ordered a lamb goan curry and it came to my table after a seven-minute wait. While I'm no stranger to how Indian cuisine tends to involve a lot of rice and curry, I like how this restaurant presents these items. The basmati rice comes in a metal bowl, and the curry also comes in a metal bowl heated by a small fire underneath. I thought that was a nice touch; they're making an effort to keep the curry warm. Also, I asked for a four-star level of spiciness in my curry, and they nailed that perfectly! Kudos to the chef for either being an expert or able to read my mind. Mixing the curry with the rice was a real pleasure. There was a perfect ratio of the two, and I didn't have to try to make them balanced. I would have preferred more lamb pieces in the curry, though. They were good, but that's precisely the reason I wanted more lamb pieces! I always find curry better when the meat isn't so scarce. The waitress asked me whether I wanted any naan, and I said yes. I ordered a garlic naan, and while it was very good, it also wasn't free. I had unknowingly added $2.95 to my bill by doing so, and I had assumed it was included because all my Indian lunch buffet visits have had the naan come with the meal. I think they should have told me the price as I was ordering it, but I suppose it's my own fault for not checking the menu or asking. I was really tired that evening, so sue me. Because the lamb goan curry had left me so full, I asked for a to-go box for my leftover garlic naan. They handed me a small cardboard box. For a big hunk of bread. Oh well. At least I was able to get something. Maybe I just came at the wrong time, because I get the feeling that I would have had a better dining experience if I'd come for their lunch buffet instead. read more

This was my third visit, and I got the tandoori chicken again. This time the vegetables that came with it were amazing! The carrots and potatoes were just the right texture; tender yet still firm. I think this is probably the first time I've ever actually liked cooked carrots. There was also something I didn't recognize (maybe artichoke?) that was very good; green peppers; and onions. The chicken was a little dry this time, but it was still perfectly spiced. The rice was an excellent complement to the slightly spicy food. The naan tasted a little like Bisquick, which was unusual, but it was still doughy, crispy, and delicious. Mirch Masala may not be a perfect 10, but it's still worth coming to. read more
