Pretty lacklustre quality Indian food, but we appreciated the vegan options. We ordered three dishes--a vindaloo with tofu, a house curry specialty with tofu, and an aloo gobi--with some roti on the side, all 4 out of 5 for spiciness. The food came quickly, but it became apparent after a few bites that the quality just wasn't there. The curries were quite watery, lacking depth of flavour, and proper integration. We were honestly shocked how poor the curries were. It's not like they tasted bad, but there was simply no depth of flavour, depth, nor proper array of flavours. The papri chaat had me in shock because of how yummy it was, BUT there was an effing mini mosquito in our rice. I thought that maybe it was the fried or onion or some other seasoning, but NO, that shiiii winked and moved bit by bit because it was a bug. I almost swallowed it, too, until I looked down while my high school best friend, Chooksty, talked about her day to me. Service was so dead. Rushing our orders and then serving it with attitude. It was so...offputting and made the experience at this restaurant even worse than it was. At least they knew to refill our water when it ran low, and to not interrupt when Chooksty and I were in deep conversation. I liked that the table had a glass top where the menus laid under so that you could order without having to flip through pages or scan a QR code. Kanak Indian Curry is so good. I always order the Goa coconut curry with plain naan, and it never disappoints -- rich, flavorful, and honestly just chef's kiss. It's one of those dishes I crave and stick with because it's that good. The service is also a highlight. Everyone is super nice, attentive, and very accommodating, which makes the experience even better. The interior can feel a little tight depending on how busy it is, but it was totally fine and didn't bother us at all. The butter chicken soup was warm, flavorful, and savory. The chicken itself was cooked well, as it was tender and tasty. The garlic naan was good as well! Crispy and tasty. I love Indian food. this place had good service and the food seemed was good. There were other folks here eating but it wasn't crowded. The ambience was nice and the waitresses were friendly. One waitress did have to go back and ask about the type of fish and a few things had to be repeated. She mentioned she was newer. It was a bit hard to find the restaurant because of how dark the street is and the toilet was dirty. The food was good but I've had better. They could use more salt and other spices. read more

Right across the street from me is a low-key Indian spot that's become the go-to for most of the Amazonian Indian crew in my building--and for good reason. A lot of them swear there's no good Indian food in Seattle, but this place hits all the boxes on flavor and price. We like it spicy, so we asked for level 3-5... which led to a hilarious moment when the server said, "There is no level 5, the scale stops at 3." Apparently we overshot--but thankfully, our heat tolerance is solid, and honestly, the fire made it even better. Standouts: the lamb biryani (loaded with flavor), lentil dal, and tandoori chicken--all legit, bold, and satisfying. The vibe inside is pretty basic, and the layout/takeout flow could definitely use some love, but the food and service more than make up for it. Most of the usual choices were there along with a few unique ones. I had palak paneer and my partner had the butter masala chicken. We both had chai and garlic naan. I think the chai and naan were my favorite part of the meal, though I did enjoy my main course. They did serve rice with the meal as well. Service - very attentive and polite. They answered my questions to confirm vegetarian items and portion sizes. They were also efficient in taking our order and bringing out items. We ordered the following: Mixed Vegetable Appetizers - it comes with two large Samoas, 4 paneer pakoras, and 4 vegetable pakoras. Delicious and definitely super filling. It's enough to share for 3-5 people. Chicken korma - the sauce was incredible and heavenly. Malai Kofta - the kofta was not soggy at all and took on a great flavor combination. I went here with 2 friends for a late dinner, and this is one of the places that were open late (until 11pm). We were seated immediately and ordered 2 entrees and naan to share, which is just enough food for 3 people. We got garlic basil naan, raita to cool down on the spices, butter chicken masala, and mango curry special with paneer. We got spice level 2 for butter chicken masala and spice level 3 for the mango curry. Level 2 is a good spot in general for me, as level 3 is way too spicy but fortunately the raita cooled down the heat a bit. I enjoyed the garlic basil naan as it had a very prominent garlic flavor and the naan is perfectly toasted yet soft inside. The butter chicken masala is good - a bit common of a dish for Indian-American cuisine but they did it well. I wasn't a fan of the mango curry as I tasted more jalapeños than mango so that was a miss. I also sampled the mango lassi which is quite creamy and fruity. However, it was a bit pricey at $6. Regardless, the price in this place is pretty solid and if you share, it's pretty affordable relative to a lot of places in the downtown / Belltown area. read more
