The papri chaat had me in shock because of how yummy it was, BUT there was an effing mini mosquito in our rice. I thought that maybe it was the fried or onion or some other seasoning, but NO, that shiiii winked and moved bit by bit because it was a bug. I almost swallowed it, too, until I looked down while my high school best friend, Chooksty, talked about her day to me. Service was so dead. Rushing our orders and then serving it with attitude. It was so...offputting and made the experience at this restaurant even worse than it was. At least they knew to refill our water when it ran low, and to not interrupt when Chooksty and I were in deep conversation. I liked that the table had a glass top where the menus laid under so that you could order without having to flip through pages or scan a QR code. Truly innovative and I wish that I could rate this place higher like I wished that I could take the leftovers home, but the cons outweigh the pros so much so :( Also, the drive to this restaurant from Olympia, Washington had a pretty rainbow

Kanak Indian Curry is so good. I always order the Goa coconut curry with plain naan, and it never disappoints -- rich, flavorful, and honestly just chef's kiss. It's one of those dishes I crave and stick with because it's that good. The service is also a highlight. Everyone is super nice, attentive, and very accommodating, which makes the experience even better. The interior can feel a little tight depending on how busy it is, but it was totally fine and didn't bother us at all. Overall, great food and great service -- definitely a go-to spot for Indian food.

Great and comforting Indian Cuisine Restaurant! This restaurant doesn't fail me. I had their butter chicken and garlic naan and I loved the meal! The butter chicken soup was warm, flavorful, and savory. The chicken itself was cooked well, as it was tender and tasty. The garlic naan was good as well! Crispy and tasty. You can never go wrong with naan with your butter chicken! The service was good. The server was nice and helpful. They frequently filled up our water which was nice. The food didn't take long to make at all. The pricing of the food is fair for Indian cuisine. The ambiance is nice. The restaurant is well organized and clean. It's a very relaxing environment to enjoy your meal with your friends. Definitely recommend eating here!

I love Indian food. this place had good service and the food seemed was good. There were other folks here eating but it wasn't crowded. The ambience was nice and the waitresses were friendly. One waitress did have to go back and ask about the type of fish and a few things had to be repeated. She mentioned she was newer. It was a bit hard to find the restaurant because of how dark the street is and the toilet was dirty. The food was good but I've had better. They could use more salt and other spices.

We've gotten takeout from Kanak twice now and had great experiences. I got the Goa Coconut Curry with chicken - medium hot. It was great and perfect spice level for me. It comes with a good portion of rice that is the right rice to curry ratio. The garlic naan is also amazing.

Right across the street from me is a low-key Indian spot that's become the go-to for most of the Amazonian Indian crew in my building--and for good reason. A lot of them swear there's no good Indian food in Seattle, but this place hits all the boxes on flavor and price. We like it spicy, so we asked for level 3-5... which led to a hilarious moment when the server said, "There is no level 5, the scale stops at 3." Apparently we overshot--but thankfully, our heat tolerance is solid, and honestly, the fire made it even better. Standouts: the lamb biryani (loaded with flavor), lentil dal, and tandoori chicken--all legit, bold, and satisfying. The vibe inside is pretty basic, and the layout/takeout flow could definitely use some love, but the food and service more than make up for it. If you're craving Indian that's both flavorful and affordable, this place is absolutely worth a shot.

The ambiance is quite clean and well-lit. Nice causal dinner area. The service was alright, nothing too good or bad. I liked that they filled our water often but near the end of our meal, it seemed like they forgot about us since we eventually had to call them over for the check. 5/5 Mango Lassi Truthfully, I think it is a bit difficult to mess up a mango lassi. I am also not very picky on mango lassis. It has a good sweetness to it-- not overalls sweet. Good mango flavor that doesn't taste too artificial 5/5 Garlic Naan Good sized garlic naan for sharing. I was a fan of the bits of garlic which made it more flavorful. 4/5 Butter Masala (Chicken) Overall the flavor was good. It has a good sweetness to it but isn't overpowering. Decent portion size. My only complaint is that the chicken tasted a bit off? I can't really explain it besides it tasted a bit fishy. 4/5 Tikka Masala (Chicken) Similar taste to the butter masala but more savory than sweet. Again, only complaint was regarding the chicken that had a fishy taste I still prefer Cedar's in UDistrict for Indian food and would most likely go there again rather than here. They have larger portions and better service for similar prices.

I'm not sure what happened on my last visit as the curries were on the colder side. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.

I found it mediocre and not particularly memorable, especially given the price. It also didn't hold up well as leftovers the next day. I couldn't even finish it. What bothered me most was that when the bill was brought over, a 22% tip had already been selected and highlighted before I signed. We were really hungry and decided to join them as I've had this spot saved too as the reviews were pretty positive. They were definitely very popular but we were put on the waitlist but I think it would be helpful if they took peoples' numbers as apparently they would just shout it outside. We weren't aware as we went somewhere else to wait as it was very cold. When we arrived, a different employee started cleaning a table for us and we waited but then the employee who did put us down was frustrated with us as he called us and no one of us answered cause we were elsewhere. We weren't sure if we had a spot after that but luckily the employee who was cleaning was done and offered that spot. They also did drop a glass cup after cleaning nearby which was concerning but they did clean it up right away. Once we were seated, it took almost a half an hour to get some to take our order. Luckily we did get our water refilled decently but there were a few times where our empty glasses were seen and ignored. I definitely think there should be staff training as it was non-existent. I understand being busy but you're across the convention center so it should be expected. The music was also so low I didn't know it was even on, they have a loud fan going on and even their TVs have no volume. It's a pretty awkward ambiance, especially with how they try to look like they are a upscale restaurant. It did take some time to get food and it seems like the kitchen was frustrated too as I heard the bell signaling food being ready several times. The food was actually good, especially for the price. The portions are generous. We never had paratha but our friend recommended it so we got the aloo paratha while my boyfriend got their butter masala and I got their tikka masala extra hot. It wasn't really spicy at all, definitely nothing like what I've had at other Indian restaurants. The curries were flavorful with good pieces of chicken. We might return if we need something nearby but there are definitely better options that I would walk for.

But Indian-Nepali Kitchen is one of Seattle's most sought-after spots for affordable eats. But don't sleep on the rest of INK's broad menu of South Asian fare -- The Infatuation magazine even considers it to be one of the best restaurants in the city, full stop. INK shares a strip mall with a bodega and nail salon. Black cushioned chairs are pressed up to lacquered wood tables, and the tan walls are decorated with an assortment of cultural tchotchkes. Bollywood music videos play on the main dining room's single flatscreen, while images of Nepali mountain ranges flash on the screen in the accessory dining room. My partner and I dined at INK for weekday dinner on our drive up to the North Cascades, and we had the dining room to ourselves. Only a handful of takeout patrons rolled through during our visit. We kicked off our meal with the Mixed Appetizer. The Vegetable Pakora component was a consensus hit. The rich, crispy bites functioned well on their own and were fun conduits for the fragrant mint sauce and the tart tamarind sauce. In comparison, the samosas were forgettable, sporting overwhelmingly thick shells and hit-or-miss fillings. Of the three varieties, only the earthy ground lamb was worth finishing. Next, we tried the Combo Momo platter. Admittedly, the signature momos were surprisingly mediocre. Across the varieties, the wonton-like Fried Momo was the clear winner with its exciting texture without overpowering the delicate filling flavor. Meanwhile, the standard steamed momos tasted like something out of the frozen section, the Chili Momos were dominated by fast-food-quality sweet-and-sour sauce, and the Sandheko Momos had an unassuming, generally savory curry flavor (which was far outdone by the tangy side of house chutney). For our entree, we were very impressed by the Butter Curry Lamb. The thick curry broth was vibrant and dynamic; we sipped it by the spoonful. The tough lamb felt like an afterthought. The Garlic Basil Bread wasn't particularly basil-y, but the naan slices were pillowy, flaky, and addictively buttery. To drink, we shared an Iced Chai. The tea was more spiced than sweet; the average Starbucks patron might turn their nose up to it, but the light drink was a welcome contrast to the dense entrees. For dessert, we opted for the Gulab Jamun: the ping pong-sized cheese balls were deceptively dense, each packing a rich, syrupy punch. The service was quick and efficient, and our bill worked out to about $75 (after tax and tip). The flavors topped out at very good, but never quite achieved greatness. The portions were generous -- we probably could have done without the momos and still had a satisfyingly hearty meal. For a no-frills meal that will, at a minimum, be tasty, INK is a safe bet.
