My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a while and it's always been great with great service, however, today they had a different server and when my bf ordered beef teriyaki, she brought him tofu. When he said he ordered beef, she just stood there and said he ordered tofu, put it on the check and ignored us while we sat there trying to talk to her about the correction. He hates tofu and has always ordered the same thing ever time. The food (when given the right thing) is good but we would prefer the other server and not given a rude attitude when we ask for the correct thing we ordered. It pretty much ruined the experience and we're not planning on coming back. If yall have any teriyaki recommendations, let us know. read more

I like this restaurant and have been here before. Tonight my husband and I came for dinner. We work different shifts and don't see each other every day so this was a little special. we were seated at a table and We ordered beers and rolls and appetizers. We were having a nice time and decided to order a dinner to split. Our server brought our dinner to us in a to go bag. We explained that we were continuing eating at the table . She then took the to go box out of the bag and set it in front of us. We thought that maybe she'd go back and get the food plated. But I had to get up and ask for plates . Then I realized we had no knives so I had to get up again to ask for them. Then , I believe it was the manager , came over and we explained the to go box and as a nice gesture offered to buy us our next beers . We thought that was nice but he brought 1 beer , I guess for us to share. It was just weird. There were 2 servers and only 2 tables that had customers so it wasn't busy. My wife raved about this place so she took me for dinner. Walking in you are greeted by a very large, clean dining room. The servers were so exceptionally nice and made us feel comfortable right away. The menu felt large, with lots of different Japanese offerings. We ended up trying the curry and tofu teriyaki, as well as a side of shrimp tempura. All of the fried food was so fresh and crunchy, perfectly cooked. I really loved the tofu teriyaki, probably some of the tastiest tofu I've ordered before. The space was comfortable and the food so good that I definitely want to go back and try more. read more

As a first timer... was disappointed in the flavorless low quality food. Maybe I am being unfair after having had Japanese food multiple times over the years...and set my expectations too high. Still 5 stars because food is good! I want them to succeed. We got more takeout tonight. Miso soup not bad. Nothing will ever compare to Wisteria the best Miso ever! Tempura is excellent. Mirin ramen with chicken was great the spicy broth was spicy! I ordered Poke now it was fresh and really good BUT on the menu it says soy sauce and sesame oil - nothing about chili oil in the description. I'm eating it and my mouth is on fire. I'm okay with this but I wish I knew it was a spicy dish. I'm from Hawaii I know my Poke. I make poke. Chili oil is something we always have on the side ready to go but poke is light, refreshing of course I cannot expect any mainlanders to get it right. See pic and lettuce . First time to visit since reopening. We met the owner as we walked in. The kitchen crew saw us and asked if we were having our usual. That was a yes. After going to the Mirin Cafe, coming here was like visiting a friend. They have a similar menu and specials. Food taste just as great as the cafe. This place is bigger and can handle more guest. It is all brand new inside. The service is just as great as before. The bathroom are spacious and have handicapped bars. There is EV charger/parking right in front of the restaurant. The building is in a shopping complex with plenty of parking close by. The prices are reasonable for the area. Glad we made the drive to come here and support them in the reopening. read more

Mirin Kitchen is in the Albertsons strip mall next to Mrs Taco and Starbucks. They opened just 2 weeks ago in January 2023 and as big fans of ramen and sushi we were eager to try their food. The first visit was a little hasty and had to be to go so we tried the chicken and beef teriyaki bowl. It was great, the veggies were very fresh, plenty of chicken and beef. And their new dining room looks fantastic, it has a modern clean asian look. We came back later that same day for dinner and tried the garlic edamame, black garlic tonkotsu ramen and the double salmon roll. The garlic edamame had a perfect amount of garlic, definitely garlicky but not overwhelming and nicely roasted to take the edge off. The ramen had plenty of chashu, it was tender, lightly seared and delicious. The ajitama (soft boiled marinated egg) was right on too. No plain hard boiled eggs here! Finally the double salmon roll had a nice amount of spice - the spicy salmon had the right amount of spicy kick. We are very happy to have a new nearby spot for quality ramen, sushi, and other Japanese cuisine! read more

My partner and I came here 3 times, so far. Each time, we ordered the Japanese curry. Normally, for curry we like, we have to drive all the way out to Convey St. Not anymore! They also serve real ramen eggs here! Not the crappy, soft-boiled, flavorless eggs. The real ramen eggs you'd get from a ramen place in San Diego. Solid miso soup. I'm excited to go back and try the black garlic tonkotsu ramen. I haven't yet because I've been having a MAJOR curry craving. Their curry really is PERFECTION, for me. We came on Mother's Day with a large friend group of 22 people including 9 young children. Despite the large group, they were able to not only accommodate us but also provided quick and excellent service. The 3 young servers were extremely kind and patient with us. We ordered the volcano ramen, beef udon along with the mirin roll and double tuna roll. Normally we aren't a fan of cream cheese in our rolls because we feel most places put too much. However the mirin roll did not have an overwhelming amount. It was tasty but we did enjoy the double tuna roll more. The family and I had a good experience here. The location was perfect since we were charging our vehicle and looking for something to eat. Mirin's kitchen didn't disappoint. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Our eldest had the spicy ramen and that was just perfect. The chicken thighs were grilled and juicy. The ramen broth was creamy, flavorful, and had enough spice to quench that spicy craving. The staff was very nice and attentive. As a Japanese person it's now in my bottom 3 worst sushi places I've ever had... the flavor combinations were not working & wayyyyyy too much cream cheese, it's the dominant flavor when it's 50% of the roll. I got 2 rolls & didn't even finish them because I disliked it so much. Good Japanese food! My family and I went to Mirin last Sunday and got a variety of items. We tried the udon Noodles, sushi rolls, chicken teriyaki bowl, chicken curry over rice and the vegetable tempura. It was a lot of food and we went home with leftovers that were great the next day. I have been in search of a place that would make some very specific comfort food from Japan, called "ocunamiyaki" that I had as kid on my travels to Fukuoka. Tried this place for the first time and have to say I'm very underwhelmed, was really looking forward to a new ramen spot in north county but they missed the mark, had the ramen and it is lacking in flavor they obviously are using ramen broth base and not making it from scratch, the chasu was very tough and it was lightly seared on one side only, the ramen egg was runny but it wasn't marinated.. Looks like I will continue to make the trek down to Kearny mesa for my ramen fix. read more

Giving it a solid 4 so far for a variety of reasons, firstly that I don't give out 5s willy nilly. Pros: - Chicken katsu curry was a good portion, the fry on the chicken was perfect and the curry was flavorful. - Tempura had a nice, light batter that wasn't overly greasy. - Miso soup was great! It amazes me how many places have terrible miso. This was honestly the highlight for me. - Teriyaki chicken/beef was tender and had good flavor. - The service was quick, friendly and attentive. Cons: - Brocolli tempura was the size of my fist! Not a good look if you're trying to eat it. I also am not a fan of brocolli tempura because it gets so soaked with mushy batter. Would have liked to see some kabocha, onions, or green beans instead. - The tempura batter was strangely heavier on the shrimp which were also a bit over cooked. I wonder if they prep/cook/freeze/recook? I'm skeptical of their ramen - I heard it was sweet and I'm a ramen snob who likes broth that's been cooked for days. We will see next time! read more

Stopped by here on a Monday afternoon with my mom for some comfort food. The place was clean. Not too many people so we were seated right away. The server was super nice and attentive. We ordered fried gyoza, chicken katsu curry, and chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura. I enjoyed the food. They give a lot. The chicken katsu was perfectly breaded and moist. Some other places have too much breading that is kinda hard and other places have too little breading that falls off the chicken. I thought this was perfect!! The chicken teriyaki was ok. The menu items I've tried thus far; chicken katsu curry 8/10 (wish the spice level could be requested, however the flavor is amazing still!), chicken teriyaki fried rice 9/10. California roll 8/10 and lastly the crunchy roll 8/10. Young and energetic staff with an ambiance that is authentic and very well designed and decorated. Thought I'd give this place a try, so i wouldn't commute to my go-to sushi place across town. I eat sushi/poke about 5x per month and I've narrowed some of my favorite spots. I'm very picky on the quality of fish I eat. I wanted to order a basic/classic items to compare. Salmon and tuna tasted fishy. Philadelphia role had way too much cream cheese. Tuna poke was overpriced, and deceiving compared to the picture on their website. For $3 more I could get a poke bowl else with fresher fish and loaded with veggies. Working in the food industry myself, would recommend sushi to-go orders to be refrigerated for food safety concerns. My items had been sitting out when I went to pick up--not sure how long it had been out, and I still had to commute home. Want to come back to try their hot food, but won't be ordering sushi again. read more

New restaurant, good service. My expectation was that it would be a solid ramen/teriyaki strip mall place. And it met that expectation. I had the steak teriyaki entree. It came with miso soup, salad, rice and steak. Miso soup was good. Probably not a homemade broth but good. Salad was nice and light. Rice was perfect and sticky. Steak was sliced thin, and the sauce was sweet and tasty. Ambiance was spartan and clean. They were showing a video on the tv where a chef was slicing up strange food items. It was a little nauseating and very hard to ignore. Ramen was good, not great. Again, maybe not homemade broth. But worth going back to try other items. read more

Awful experience. Party of 8, waited 45 minutes for food, finally we decided to call our waitress over, who never came to check on us, and ask about our order. She came back and said it was ready and sitting on the counter because she thought it was to go. She took our order at the table and served us drinks. So she brings our food, all in paper bags and styrofoam. And the food was cold after sitting on the counter for over a half hour. So we asked for the manager, they said no manger there but sent over the cook to talk to us. He agreed but couldn't do anything about it. He called his manager and was told they would not comp anything, whether we accepted the food or not. We ended up having to pay over $175 for food that we waited 45 plus minutes for and was served in paper bags and cold. I can't say enough of how horrible this place is. read more

Mirin Kitchen is my favorite restaurant in Vista. They are like Teri Cafe menu but 3x the quality. The rolls are simple but the ingredients are so fresh, soft, quality that they are as flavorable as sushi should be and so delicious. I'm a big fan of their caterpillar roll & lemon salmon roll!! Their teriyaki chicken is also excellent. Their staff are so friendly and accommodating. Even the young staff are so sweet and care about the customer. This local business is one I want to see succeed as much as it deserves and I HIGHLY recommend their food & service. read more
