You place your order at the counter. Lots of items to choose from. Went with the Kauai roll (no rice-wrapped in cucumber) & vegetable fried rice. Let's just say, I was very pleased with my picks. First time visiting this spot. I ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki plate with fried shrimp ($18). It's an order-at-the-counter setup -- I was given a number and the food came out very quickly. Portions were generous, and the Asian salad dressing was some of the best I've had. The chicken was tender, and in hindsight I wish I had upgraded to fried rice for the extra $2. I also ordered a spicy tuna roll ($9). The tuna tasted good with soy sauce, but two of the pieces lacked any spice and were mostly greens. The potato salad on the plate was bland, and I'd recommend skipping it. The restroom was spacious, but there was toilet paper scattered on the floor, suggesting maintenance could be improved. No one beats their selection, prices, and vibes. My go-to is the teriyaki chicken bowls. They just make it perfect, but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. 10 year Update: Going stronger than ever I really was in a Ramen phase before, now I've tried almost the whole menu yet I keep going back to their combinations for their value and them being the epitome of what Teri Cafe is about. If I'm not here for Dinner (usually becuase of how busy it can get) The combo plate #6 becuase it has everything. Their famous chicken thighs, tender beef and shrimp. I always ask for extra miso dressing to mix in with the teriyaki sauce and top with sriracha. I add Togarashi for some spice to the miso soup. The orange slice is always fresh, always sweet year round and a nice treat after a heavier plate. If i'm really hungry I'll get 1 or 2 hand/cut rolls. I love their surimi mix, tender, flakey, flavorful and their scallop roll made spicy is a winner due to how fresh their scallops are. They do some of the best tempura shrimp in the business and their spicy tuna is finely chopped and seasoned well, not just spicy, it's got almost a poke flavor to it (sesame seed oil perhaps). The decor hasn't degraded over time, the service is top notch and the prices are reasonable becuase of the portions and attention to flavors. Their weekly and daily specials are always worth it and not just products they are trying to move. They are busy enough and have such a good menu they move everything well. I love a good buckwheat noodle, but their sauce could use some brightness, so I always add the shrimp/veg tempura. Their samurai wrap is a great on the go healthy option with a little bit of everything like a mix between a shrimp tempura/spicy tuna roll and a spring roll in soy paper, but small burrito sized. Their Tylers Fried rice is fantastic with the curry cutlet on top. How well everything else is done the only thinigs I'd like to see are a Unadon bowl (they already have all the ingredients) and a Loco Moco, but that may be too Hawaiian and just my pipe dreams, I just know if they did it would be out of this world. read more

Number 11 is the dish I always order when I come to Teri Cafe. I've been a regular customer for many years, and I've noticed that they now charge tax separately from the food. In my opinion, the food at Teri Cafe is good if you don't have too much time to wait. The staff are very friendly, quick, and efficient. However, it seems to me that the portions are getting smaller (I'm not sure if others feel the same). Brought 4 families to try Teri's and got mixed reviews. Most loved it but some did not. Everyone who got the teriyaki plates loved it and those who got fried rice or soup did not. This is a really great sushi/ Hawaiian spot right off the freeway. They're open later than other dinner spots and it's a pay and seat yourself establishment. The cashiers and servers were polite and our food came very quickly (we came late at night so it wasn't very busy.) There is inside and outside seating and the inside decor is very cute. Our meals were really good, I especially liked my poke bowl/ Oceanside bowl which came with soy sauce but I ended up not using it because the fish was seasoned well. Been visiting this restaurant once in a blue moon with my family over the years aside from going to Sizzlers next door. Easy to walk in while ordering the food. Nice and simple. The waiting for the food was very smooth after few moments later. The cashier gave us drinks right away. Same for the waiter giving us utensils including chopsticks if any of us wanted one. The music is mostly variety pop, making the vibes pretty casual. As for the food, did not let me down even after coming back here years later time to time. As much as I like Teri Cafe, one thing that has always bothered me is the fake plastic grass they add to every sushi plate. Why is their plastic touching my food? Simply for decoration? Teri could save the money by not buying this stupid fake plastic grass. It doesn't look good, it DEFINITELY doesn't taste good lol, so why is it there? It CHEAPENS the dish rather than enhancing it. Nobody will care if it's gone. Customers won't say "Hey, this sushi is worse now that the plastic grass is gone!" Ridiculous. Get rid of the fake plastic grass at all your restaurants and I'll get rid of my 1 star reviews. read more

We wanted to try Teri Cafe for a while. The last time we went on a weekday night, there was a long queue. There are lots of parking lots available. It shares the same parking lot as Sizzlers and TJ Maxx. It is a cafe style restaurant. You queue up and order at the front and choose from a menu on the board like a fast food restaurant. They have bottled beer, japanese soda, green tea from Japan, and regular sodas. Service is very good. Hubby ordered a beef and fried shrimp plate, and I ordered a beef teriyaki yaki soba. He ordered Asahi bottled beer, and I got a bottle of iced green tea. Service was very prompt. We got our food within 10 minutes, and it was great. The teriyaki beef, even though sliced thinly, was not overcooked. It was very juicy. My husband's teriyaki beef was also very juicy. What is amazing is that the teriyaki sauce is authentic and not overly sweet. There are condiment bottles on every table- sriracha and kikoman soy sauce at every table. Went to Sea World over Spring break, after we left we wanted to check out Teri Cafe for dinner rather than eating in the park. Much better food and much more reasonable. This is their second location, had not been to this one before, glad we stopped, great food, great service, Ohana style vibes. You walk in and order at the counter, then seat yourself and they bring it to you. They give large portions here, which I love, not only large portions, but great food as well. Yum! I got the Dinner special #1. Coke with Teriyaki chicken, miso soup, California roll or Spicy tuna roll (for an up charge) potato salad and a huge salad. The plate it comes out on is massive and the food covers it all. I ate a good amount, but did nit finish it all. Saved some for the next day. The teriyaki chicken was tender and grilled nicely, the spicy tuna, salad, potatoes salad and the miso soup were are very flavorful and delicious. You get all that food for $17, what a deal. We haven't been to this location but we were closer to here than the other location. It was busy but quick to get in and eat. Food was great like the last time but at the other location. I got a chicken and beef combo Teri sauce on the side. I like to dip my meat in the sauce. We were all stuffed and bellies were happy. Service was good and painless. I can't speak for decoration. I've been to Teri's Cafe (both locations) and it's always consistently great. Absolutely love their dinner special, I've also had their ramen and the spicy ramen special they have right now. Portions are always fantastic, I always have enough for the next day with the dinner special. The only reason I'm writing this is because my girlfriend went in for a solo lunch and told me she felt pretty uncomfortable.
