My experience with this company began well. Designer was a very good SALESPERSON, establishing…read morespeedy rapport, made selection process fun, but the price literally floored me. She then began adding discounts for this and that, which I am now convinced is a process by which they just charge you whatever they can get you to pay, and since you MUST custom order, you are stuck. It took 2.5 months to get roman shades that turned out to be so poorly made that they should have taken 1 week at best! I still like the quality of the material I choose, but the quality as to how shades were made is sub-par!! AND, the design of how they work is stupid. The round "pull" used to lower and raise shades in glued together, and whenever it goes over the gear part at the top it sticks. So of course you yank it harder to unstick it. Before installer even left, the "pull" broke. He went and got another one. Told me I needed to contact designer if I had problem with design. I left her a message several days ago, explaining everything I have said here, and received no call back, nothing. The day after install, I went to the credit card site where I had paid first installment (really MORE than what these shades are worth!), and found they had already charged the 2nd installment. Almost $2000 for 2 not large windows. I do not recommend using this company.

So it's been less than one day since I've had the blinds installed and I'm obsessed! I have that…read moreone window that cannot be reached and thus would blast my living room with light and heat. I have a great view so I didn't want to cover the window. Also didn't want something ugly. My consultant was on time for our first appointment. She listened to me and what I wanted. She showed me her books and helped me make a selection. I had only gotten a quote from one other company, and 3 day blinds was much less expensive with a better collection of fabrics to choose from. After picking out what I wanted a guy had to come back to remeasure. A bit of a pain but whatever. He was in and out in about 10 minute. After that there was some miscommunication and no one called me about the install date. I had to call and they told me again that it would had to be remeasured. I spoke with Desiree at the main office. She went above and beyond to figure out the confusion, called me two or three times to let me know what was going on, and two days later I have my blinds. I'm obsessed. I want remote controlled blinds everywhere I go! Even better, they look just as good up as they do down. They give my window a finished look. I just love them!!!! Installation was on time and done in no time. I am waiting for quotes from hunter Douglas for the same window. They may have more selections but you'll wait longer and may pay more. Anyway, I love love love my blinds. They are perfect and amazing and beautiful. Adding pics so you can make your own judgment.

I have hired 1st Stage for multiple properties over the years. In the past, they generally did…read moregreat work and I was impressed with their staging style, professionalism, availability, and pricing. That said, my most recent experience was disappointing. I had them stage a modern townhouse in Costa Mesa near the beach. Unfortunately, the staging style they chose did not match the aesthetic of the property at all. I am not a designer, so I typically trust their vision and let them take the lead. This time, I reached out to their team and simply asked if we could swap out a few items to make the space feel more modern or beachy. I was told I would need to pay a restocking fee. That response was frustrating. I had referred them many jobs and clients in the past, and while the fee itself was not a large amount, it felt unnecessary and left a bad impression. They did eventually waive the fee, which I appreciated, but the situation already felt mishandled. Fast forward a bit. The property did not sell, and I requested that it be de-staged. Their team came out a few days later and removed the furniture. A few months after that, they emailed both me and my client, who was the actual party to the staging contract, claiming there was a prorated balance due for a few extra days the furniture remained in the home. The amount was under $400. The contract was between my client and 1st Stage, not me, so I was confused as to why I was included. Shortly after, Mark Sutton emailed me directly asking if I could take care of the payment by the next day. I found that extremely unprofessional. Agents are the ones who bring them business, and asking me to personally pay an invoice that had nothing to do with me showed a real lack of business judgment. I expressed my disappointment with their customer service, and the only response I received was a payment link. If you are looking for a stager who truly feels like a partner and values long-term relationships, I would think twice before using this company. In my experience, once an issue arises, you are treated like just another number, and preserving relationships does not seem to be a priority.
