I didn't go out of my way trying to find one that specializes in Russian manicures, but it just so happened that Diva Beauty Lounge was the one that I found. The scheduling process was super easy, I believe I just called them and afterwards had to text my information to them. Maybe a second later I got a text confirming the appointment, with a link to their Square website. I especially appreciated this aspect because I was able to see the location on my Maps app. On the day of my appointment, I noted the salon is close to Main Street/Old Town Fairfax but it's in its own area with ample parking. I accidentally went to the wrong building, but Vera was super nice and came outside to get me. When I walked into the salon, I noted how clean and neat it looked inside. It doesn't have a million pedicure chairs, but this is because they specialize in dry pedis, which require special chairs (look up dry pedis online, they're life changing). It wasn't super loud in there either, which added to the peaceful vibes of the place. I was offered a beverage once I got to Vera's work station and she brought me water. So right off the bat, customer service gets a 10/10. Next, I showed Vera what I wanted. She confirmed the shape, the color, and wanted to know if I was okay with my color being more sheer (I picked a pink that actually comes out more see through). This was perfectly fine by me, because I wanted more of a natural nail moment. Once Vera confirmed all that I wanted she got to WORK. When I tell you no kind of manicure compares to a proper Russian manicure, I mean it. They devote so much time to cleaning and cutting your cuticles (dead skin only, no live skin), making sure the polish isn't lumpy, and maintaining the shape, that it's literally giving a LUXURY experience. Despite having to take the time to perfect all of these little things, my mani really didn't take all that long and by the end of it, I was in love. Other than how perfect my mani was at the end, I especially loved that I hadn't been nicked or cut at all by the nail scissors. I have actually been to some places that say they specialize in "Russian manicure" and left completely cut up everywhere (an infection waiting to happen), but at Diva Beauty Lounge, Vera really took her time and ensured everything was done properly, safely, and hygienically. The one thing I will say about getting this kind of mani (or pedi if you so choose), is that it will definitely cost more than your typical manicure/pedicure. The reason being that it's a much more specialized technique and your nails just look that much better due to them taking their time and perfecting everything. If you're not the kind of person that can come often, I highly suggest getting a nude color (what I did) so that you don't have to come in sooner when it starts growing out. Otherwise, this is a great kind of mani to get if you're getting engaged, have a party, some kind of special event, etc. It's well worth the extra coin. And if you can come regularly, I say do it! This kind of manicure also keeps your cuticles perfected and helps your nails to grow out nicely. Overall, have got to give my girl Vera a 10/10, this was an A+ experience. I was super pleased with my visit and my nails, and can't wait to come back again!

If something wasn't up to her standard, she wasn't afraid to start over, and ensured I was happy with each step and color choice, which I really appreciated. The salon is Korean-owned, and reservations are a good idea since it's usually busy--probably because it's right next to George Mason. The music isn't too loud, and they have TVs playing shows, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Pricing is also more than fair for design nails, and as a bonus, my manicures typically last three weeks without any chips or breaks!

The gentleman greeted me was sitting in the very back of the nail salon looking at his cell phone. I waited for him to come to the front, and I don't know - I picked up a non-welcoming, tense vibe. I explained I only needed a pedi, regular polish. He pointed and said pick a color. But not all the colors were standard, some were gel and powder so I asked him which ones were regular. He sort of just pointed in the general area to pick a color. So I did. I had two nail techs. One did the polish removal while the other lady was finishing up and put me in the foot soaker. The other lady did the rest of my pedi. They were both very nice and friendly. I had nice conversation with one of them and that made the pedi experience a positive one. I went to pay and mentioned to the nail tech, wow, those glitter colors over there are so nice, I wish they were regular polish. She said they are regular. So I said, but the guy said I could only pick from there (a certain area). So she showed me all the colors I could select from on two different walls and a whole other wall in the back. So I said he did a poor job explaining. He walked up for something and I said you only told me these were the colors, I wish you had told me about all the other ones. His response was, "Next time. You'll be back," and sort of walked to the back again. In a day where there is a nail salon on literally every other block, in every strip mall - one can't be so assuming the customer will be back. With that sort of arrogant response, I will not be back unless there's different manament. That guy was not welcoming in an atmosphere that is all about relaxation.

I've come twice so far, and the first time, it was because I needed my gel nails removed. I was ok with it but I was hoping it was just a one time fluke. I came back bc my nail broke a couple weeks after. I asked for pink chrome nails on both my mani and pedi. I had a picture and everything, and I picked the color out. Thai, the nail artist went back and picked a color she thought was closer to my picture. I figured she would know better than me. Tell me why she chose a sparkly nail polish, just clear with pink sparkles! I cry. It looked nice sure but it wasn't the color I wanted. My toes literally look like nothing is painted on! My finger nails were just glittery and when I said it wasn't pink enough, a male worker came over and was getting defensive. I showed him the pic and he was like "that's chrome"! When we did chrome on my one nail to try it came out as white chrome with some pink undertones. At this time it had been 3 hours so I was over it. Also, the gel wasn't painted flat, idk how to explain it but it's lumpy. I settled for the white chromey look and it was pretty but not what I wanted. I think they just don't have the color or I have to be so specific like I want this exact number, don't switch it up on me. On the bright side i thought the price was ok - it was $55 for mani and $55 for pedi. I did enjoy the massage with the pedicure. I don't think I'll be returning.

Edit/ Update 2/6/23…read more Today I saw some that will forever increase my expectations on getting pedicures. The sign for disposable liners and desposible pedicure jet. I will be on the lookout for other Nail&Spas that offer this. After snapping a photo of the sign, I was escorted to the waxing room by Venus. This is a tight fitting room, but everything works out once you close the door. Venus is the manager of the store, and when she told me her name, The Venus De Milo came to mind. I suspected Venus has some African American roots in her, but her Vaitnmeese is perfect. In fact, I think English is her second language....but I digress. Inside the waxing room, I stripped down to my bare chest. I asked for a sheet so wax wouldn't drip or get splattered on to my pants. Ordinarily I strip down to my sweet nothings, but this wasn't needed this time around. This is an Organic nail shop so everything is natural ingredients. I liked how Venus used different sticks for when she applied the wax. Most nail places do the double dipping and people get use to this....well, many people. Venus worked on my arms and removed my unwanted body hair. The small talk was good, but I found myself slowly starting to fall asleep. In my sleep state of mind, I wondered if Venus could do a Brazilian Wax Job too? I decided to ask her later on. When Venus finished with my arms, she went back over them to make sure she removed any hair she missed. Venus than said ssd he could remove my armpits hair which needed shaving. I said I would do it when go home, but Venus talked me into getting it waxed here. Well Venus used a hard wax that looked like dark chocolate, but actually had shades of blue and green in it. The hard wax removed only the hair and not the skin. Venus put on purple disposable gloves for this waxing procedure. I did ask if she could do Brazilian waxing and I was informed this nail salon doesn't do Brazilian waxing for guys. Although she did inspect the hairs on my legs she informed me the hairs are to short to be pulled. Anyhow, I saw one lady who remembered me from the last time I was here. I don't remember her name. Nevertheless, I know I will come back here at least one more time, but I am not sure for which service. Thank you for your service Venus. Also thank you for putting that notice up about the old and new disposable procedures. *Venus called me today about the Disposable Jetpump Liners. The jetpump comes inside the liner and it is A ONE TIME USE PRODUCT. This is fantastic news if this is true. I will have to see this for myself the next time I am there.
