Just had an oil change. The service was great. The service man knew exactly how much oil to put in my car. No more or less, the exact amount. Too many service shops overfill the oil. This use to be the only place I took my automobiles. It had a great reputation and I never worried about the fix. It was also a little more expensive than other shops but I didn't mind because I could depend on the finished product. So I thought this was just my experience however I've spoken to two others now that have had similar experiences at Mir's. The last two times I have been there they have charged and quoted for service by near double and over sold me products. So, I went to another shop and had the work done for half the quote at Mir's and got a guarantee. I've posted other great ratings recommending this shop, so I felt it was appropriate for me to be honest about the last experiences that have been bad. Mr. Mir's doesn't own this shop now, I'm not sure if he did, but something has changed and it's sad to see the good name of this shop dragged down. Dependable reasonable mechanic services are in high demand, and I would love to see this shop come back to a customer service focus and a reasonably priced mechanic shop. Those two are the reasons I didn't take my vehicles to the dealership. I'm just gutted that this shop has changed to a sell you everything and the kitchen sink kinda place. Maybe it's just the guy at the front desk that's doing that. He kept saying "I'm gonna be honest with you." But not so much. terrible, they fixed parts that after a week it broke down and other mechanics said that part was not new. They use parts from junk yard and it breaks down again in a short time. They stole parts from my husbands car. After going to their shop, every month we had to come back. They make you come back. Because different parts start to break down. They are crooks . We recently got our car back from Mir and he not only beat the dealership's service quote, he absolutely went the extra mile to make sure the car was safe and repaired properly. I moved to central Florida from Pennsylvania 4 years ago--didn't know anyone. When I started experiencing car problems last year, the neighbor lady told me about Mir and what a great guy he was and how I could trust him. She was 100% correct. Mir and his staff are top notch. They have taken care of all of my families car care needs with honesty and professionalism. I want to share 1 example of their outstanding customer service. Last night, my wife's van was acting up (sputtering). I called and talked to the office manager--it was already 5:00 on a Friday. He said "bring it in". As soon as I arrived, a mechanic took the keys, asked a couple questions, then went for a test drive. He came back and hooked the van up to a monitor. A few minutes later, the manager came to me and stated, "we can't find anything wrong with your van--we've tested everything--the only possibility is bad gas." The previous night, I had just filled up. Their diagnosis was perfect! They encouraged me to keep an eye out for warning lights but were confident the sputtering would stop once the gasoline mixed in the tank. My point is, they could have told me anything. They could have put in a new filter, spark plugs, fuel line, whatever. I was so totally impressed with their honesty and the best part was, I didn't even get charged a diagnostic fee. After reading the reviews, I was skeptical, and they blew me away from the first phone call! David Maus Chevrolet quoted me $1000.00 to do the clutch master cylinder and slave, but didn't even mention doing the clutch while they had the engine and tranny out(Mir pointed that out while talking to him). So, this started me looking for a more reasonable mechanic! I called Mir somewhat skeptical and he discussed the problem and almost diagnosed the problem over the phone! I was intrigued and went to the shop to drop off the 2006 cobalt. The first person who greeted me was friendly and quickly got someone to help me. They took my information and I headed to work. Initially I was expecting I needed a new clutch and possibly master cylinder since the clutch pedal went to the floor. I was expecting about $1200 and Mir was dead on that price. He suggested that he try to bleed the lines as that may be all that was wrong since it hasn't been right since we picked it up from David Maus. We agreed to start there and see what he found. A few hours later he called and explained that there was nothing but air in the lines and even clamping them off to get pressure wasn't helping. We agreed to replace the clutch master cylinder first. There were no after market parts, and Mir had to get it from David Maus LOL. He didn't mark up the part at all! WOW! A fair quote on labor to install it and we agreed. They got the part late and had to keep it overnight! They called me to let me know! Today I got the call that everything was working! I explained that I had lost brake fluid over the last few months, so Mir offered to put it back up on the lift and check the brakes as well for no charge! (The clutch and brakes share the same reservoir)WOW again! A couple hours later they called me back and said that everything looked fine and we will see if the leak returns, but it was probably just the clutch master cylinder. I totally agree, and will see what happens moving forward! Picked up the car for $362.00 out the door! HOLY WOW! They work honestly and way too cheap! While walking into the shop Mir's wife was asking one of the employees to check the air in our tires! Now thats service with a smile, and she was actually smiling! After paying the car was parked at the door ready to go! The clutch is just like new and feels the way it did when we bought it with 12 miles on it! Almost 100,000 now. So, final impressions. The business is a small wharehouse, with limited parking. The office is small, but clean! The service is the best I have ever received from a mechanic EVER! They do not believe in marking up parts, which I have no objections to! My cylinder was $164 from David Maus, and labor was $198.00. Totally fair and worth it! While leaving a friendly older lady was behind me and I got the impression it wasn't her first visit. I will be sending all my friends and family to Mir in the future! They are doing business exactly as they should in these economic times, and I'm sure its going to get harder to get an appointment!
