Great alterations, very friendly, very expensive $$$ 2 pants hemed, and a dress was 100 dollars .

It pains me to write this because I wish nothing more than to have had the wonderful experience many people on here had. I specifically chose Miryana because of the reviews I read on here. I dropped off my wedding gown a week ago. I had little time bc we spontaneously decided to get married. She assured me she would have it done. Come yesterday afternoon, I picked up my gown and was horrified at what I saw. She even told me not to try on again bc "it was beautiful." I trusted her. Unfortunately that was not the case. The hem looks like my toddler cut it (please see photos). My straps were uneven. I went back this morning in tears. I requested a partial refund and she asked if I was crazy, that she did not work for free. She begged for me to let her fix it. She even started cutting more at the bottom with scissors as my gown lay on the floor. I asked her to please stop. We leave tomorrow morning for our wedding destination and I did not feel at all comfortable leaving my gown with her again. I will now have to pay someone else to try and amend what has been done which will be difficult due to time constraints. I am horrified and have submitted a dispute with my bank. I would like to believe she means well but if you cannot deliver what you guarantee then please just don't accept the job. I'm heartbroken. It might very well be that it is time fir her to sit back and enjoy life. I was also unsettled by her begging not to leave her a bad review and telling me she was "a little old lady." I felt pressured not to leave a bad review however after much thought decided it was important to share my experience. read more

I was supposed to post this review in November 2015 which is when my alterations were done before my destination wedding to Punta Cana in The Dominican Republic. I had a 5 month old baby and all Yelp Reviews were forgotten but every time I look at my wedding pictures I'm reminded of the magic hands that fixed my dress. So here I am to tell you that if you need alterations THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! I had purchased my wedding dress last minute in NYC and had it shipped to California. When it arrived 2 weeks before my wedding it didn't fit AT ALL! I was 4 months postpartum, so the dress wouldn't go past my my hips and butt. I was in full panic mode and about to purchase an off the rack dress out of desperation. I was living in Escondido at the time and passed by this shop and decided to go in....best thing I ever did. I knew asking for such major alterations to be done in less than 2 weeks was crazy but I was praying for a miracle and my prayers were answered. She not only altered my dress in less than a week she did an AH-MAZING job. My dress fit me like a glove. She somehow managed to make a small dress bigger. She has the magical touch! Took my brides maid dress on 8/23 to get altered and raise the slid. I went to pick it up on Sept 27th and it was still too long, two stains on my new dress and the raise of the dress was sloppy stitching. I was extremely upset about the stains on my dress yet alone the slid looks like someone is taking a beginners sewing class. Take your dress to Davids Bridal. I did it out of connivence but with gas and the head ache it was not worth it. She also has her two loud kids there and rude Grandmother. read more

Sadly, Miryana has passed away. A new lady has taken over the store. Miryana would always get things gone in a day or two. A couple of weeks ago I brought in a very small alteration to the new lady at Miryana's, and I even said that it didn't need to look pretty. I was in the area a week later and stopped by. I was scolded that I would be called when it was ready. Now two weeks have gone by, so I left a message this morning. Must be nice not having to show up to work until 11. I didn't get a call back, which I find a little rude, but was in the area, so I stopped by. Nothing had been done, and I was offered to take the alteration back, which I quickly did. I would recommend Mirjana for wedding dress alterations! She fixed the work of another seamstress. If you read, you'll see all my reasons below. I paid a seamstress in downtown Los Angeles and she ruined the style of my mermaid/trumpet dress. She hemmed the dress and did not compensate and adjust the flare at knee. She also sowed the train into an awkward bustle. My train wasn't too long and she sowed three bustles in the back and it made the dress look like an A line. I did not notice this until about two weeks before my wedding in photos my sister took. I was so upset. I didn't have time. I read reviews and found Mirjana. She fixed my dress within 5 hours. She undid the unflattering bustle and gathered the dress at the back to compliment my figure. She redid the bustle (only needed 1) and restitched the lace perfectly. It was my dream wedding dress. She comforted me. Made me feel so much better. She was professional. She spent time explaining the work. She also noticed the awkward style and I didn't even have to explain what I wanted. So grateful for her service. If you are in the area, don't bother feeling pressure to go to a big city... she is skilled, talented and fast. I would even drive distance to utilize her services. So it's been a little over two months since my wedding, and we just got back our professional photos, and every time I see pictures of my dress the same thought comes to mind - Miryana saved my wedding day. Like many brides, you hope to lose some weight to get into a wedding dress you've dreamt of most your life. I found my dress in a boutique in Florida, and the dress had to shipped from Eastern Europe. I was supposed to give plenty of notice to give enough time for alternations - but I neglected to do so, and so I was starting to panic when it was a month before the wedding and still no dress. 3 weeks to go and the dress arrives. The waist is 2 inches smaller than what we ordered, and there is absolutely no way it's going to fit. I had already contacted Miryana to have her do alterations when the dress arrived - she said no appointment needed, to just come in. The Florida boutique owner was having more lace shipped from the dressmaker in Europe to fill in panels on the sides of the dress. (Apparently they sent me the largest size dress they had, so we had to work with what we were sent.) Miryana had me try on the dress and assured me (okay - she kept me from crying) that all would be okay and once the lace arrives, she would sew in the panels. 10 days before the wedding the lace arrives, but there is no matching tulle material underneath to sew the lace on. Miryana says I won't be able to find that color tulle anywhere. I panic again, but Miryana says "don't worry - I'll find something to use". And she did. 7 days before my wedding, she pulled a rabbit out of a hat. She keeps scraps of all kinds of material in her shop, and she found these stretchy pocket inserts that were of a very similar color. I came by to take a look, couldn't believe what she showed me, and said let's do it! What Miryana accomplished in my mind was no less than a miracle. I told several wedding guests prior to the ceremony what had occurred. When they saw me walk down the aisle they were wide-eyed at how great the dress looked and the work Miryana had done. And for those that didn't know what occurred with the dress, they were none the wiser. I love Miryana. I can't recommend her highly enough. She can do anything. Small jobs, big jobs...and if you need a rabbit out of a hat - she's your girl. read more

I didn't pay for any services, but I still would like to share the experience and price. My wedding dress needed a simple hem. It's really nothing fancy at the bottom, just an under layer and a top chiffon layer. Some say she isn't rude, just straight-forward, but when I showed her my wedding dress she said "Why'd you like this one? The cost?" Granted, it isn't fancy, but that seems pretty overtly rude to me. It was inexpensive, but it's a lovely dress. Basically she said she won't touch wedding dresses for under $179. So $179 on a simple dress because it's white. Ridiculous. read more

My husband dropped off 4 panels of curtains to get hemmed, when we picked them up, they were too long AND different lengths, so we took them back. After picking them up a second time, all 4 panels are different lengths again, and one is crooked (one wasn't touched the second time). I called to request a refund so we could take them somewhere else and was told they don't give refunds and she worked really hard on those, mentioning to me that she's "an old lady", and that she " doesn't do this kind of thing anymore", I asked why she agreed to do them then? She should have told us that to begin with. She also told me that she's never had anyone bring their alterations back, unhappy. She insisted she followed the lines on the curtains, and I told her that that doesn't explain why each one is a different length, and they are hemmed differently. These are light filtering curtains, so when hung, you can see that the darker hem at the bottom is noticeably different on each panel. She did offer, after arguing about it, to have us bring them back and she would alter them in front of us while we wait. We aren't going a 3rd round This is very unfortunate, to be out $100, and to feel it necessary to write a poor review. We took our curtains to another establishment who asked, "who messed these up?"..... :( read more

I came to Mirjana's on a short timeline for my wedding dress. It just needed to be shortened a little bit (about an inch and half). It was a pretty simple alteration and I asked if she could have it done in a week. She told me no problem and I was pretty happy with that. From a lot of the reviews I saw and how much she was charging the other people in the shop ahead of me for the simple alterations on their dresses (with also quite short timelines from overhearing their conversations) I assumed that the price would be pretty reasonable. I put down a $50 deposit and then figured it would not be more than about $100 or $150 when I came to pick it up. That was my mistake. I definitely should have asked for a quote before. When I came to pick it up she couldn't remember who I was at first and started showing me clothing and wedding dressed that weren't mine and I was a little freaked out by that but finally she found my dress. She ended up charging me $220 that day just for shortening the dress. Overall, I do feel like $270 is a bit much for just shortening a dress and I will not be returning. read more

I heard about Miryana by word of mouth. I called to ask if I could take in my wedding gown and she said to go in anytime. Took it in, she did her thing, made me come in once for final measurements and had it ready within a week. She charged me less than half of what the original place where I bought it wanted to charge me. She did an amazing job! took my bridal dress to get some alterations. had her add some pieces to help cover up sections that i didnt feel comfortable with . miryana mudered my dress all alterations were done lazy amd incorrect. plus over charged. including 5 other people in the party . all dresses ruined . i called to talk to her . she threatened to call the cops on me . for somethimg she did wrong . very unhappy . please retire and stop taking peoples money very over priced read more

Don't be fooled by her small, inconspicuous shop in Escondido. Miryana saved me from buying a completely new gown a month before my wedding. When I bought my wedding gown, my aim was to lose weight so I hit the gym non stop. To my surprise a month before my wedding, I couldn't fit into the gown because I had suddenly grown too much muscle. I frantically called the shop where I bought the dress asking to exchange it for a size up, and they said it was too late and I needed to buy a new gown altogether. I contacted several places that do alterations and was being quoted anywhere between $500-700 for all the alterations I needed. That was too much money and I literally had a breakdown. Our pastor from church heard about my problem and recommended Miryana saying the family had been going to her for years. So I gave it a shot. I called and she was short -- telling me to just come in that same day. Miryana is such a sweet lady when you finally meet her in person and she gets right to the point. She laid it out for me. She needed to take out every single seem so I could fit into the dress, and even advised me to STOP working out. I also realized she wasn't trying to nickel and dime me. She told you what she could do and she would make sure it was cheaper than other places. She told me to come back the following week to try on the dress again and I was shocked she worked on it so quickly. After my second fitting, there were a coupe of things she needed to fix, but lo and behold, the dress fit PERFECTLY. I couldn't believe it. But it didn't stop there. When she gave me my total it was less than $300 for all that work and about half of what all the other seamstresses were trying to charge me! I told her she was a miracle worker and will now go back to her for ANYTHING I need done in alterations. I read reviews where people gave her a low score because of "lack of customer service" and I realize they all called her for information. Miryana is old school. She prefers to see what you're dealing with in person and she gives it to you straight, no bull. She's not there to sugarcoat anything for you. I prefer that over someone who is overly nice and can't execute nor deliver. Just stop by. She is quick and will get things done. read more

Uhhhhhhhamazing!! I actually found this using yelp. I bought a dress online from the UK and their sizes and our sizes are completely different. Long story short it was huge!!!!! I went in to the shop, such a cute small nice lady. Right away from trying on the dress she knew exactly what needed to be done. She told me she could get it done same day! Being new to the area, I came here based on the great reviews I saw for Miryana, but when I got my dress back, I could not believe how terrible of a job she did. I brought in a single layer dress to get the hem shortened. A simple task that I've had done many times at other places between $8-10 before I moved here. The entire hem of the dress was uneven and crooked with loose stitching. I couldn't believe she would hand back apparel looking like that. It was blatantly obvious that it was not straight. To top it off she charged me $15! My new dress is butchered and now I must find somewhere else to fix this catastrophe. She was a nice lady, but the skill is completely lacking. After a while you see certain things that let you know if they are someone that cares and has an amazing work ethic with amazing attention to detail, or they do not. The hem and the length of my legs were uneven lucky for me I decided to just bring 1 of my jeans first. Beware! I took in a blazer (I spent a lot of money on) needed the sleeves shortened. She just turned them under and hand sewed them, well tacked them under leaving the button holes exposed and then sewed the old buttons on the jacket without new button holes. It was the worst tailor job I have ever had and she knew it looked bad. She said she hated those kinds of jobs and you could tell by the horrific botch job. And then she charged me full price; and had the nerve to say no tip because I know your not happy. I had to take it to another tailor. And spend more money. I could have done myself what she did. Very rude, can't get a word in. When she saw me walk in you could tell by the look on her face she was not happy to see me. We will never go back there again. read more

I just happened to be driving by, out running errands before my wedding, I needed some minor alterations on a lace dress. I'm on crutches so by the time I walked around to the front of the shop to ask the woman if she could come out and help me and told her what I needed she immediately said no without looking at my dress and was really rude and not helpful. Firstly, after staring at her business card, I'm pretty sure her name is Miryana. Unless her card is wrong. Regardless, I don't care if her name is Bob, she is seriously awesome. Not only is she a very sweet person, you can tell she also genuinely cares about her work. I brought in a very nice dress that was a size too big. She tailored it to fit PERFECTLY! It took her about a week to finish, but she assured me that if I needed it sooner she would make it happen. Pricing was reasonable, and it varies with how difficult it was to alter the garment. I love this woman! She altered me and my boyfriend's prom outfits back in 2016, and this year when I married him, and she altered my wedding dress.
