As a gift for my daughter, I wanted to do a family video shoot to give to her when she's older. In the beginning, I had booked a makeup artist and another hair stylist. The hair stylist ended up canceling on me at last minute, however, fortunately, my makeup artist knew who to refer me to as a replacement - Mish! I was so glad that Mish was available on that day and at such short notice! Upon booking her, I appreciated that she emailed me instructions on how to prep for my hair on the day of such as don't wash it the day before. She was probably the best decision I made for my little project because she made me look and feel so fabulous and got me even more excited for the shoot! When we met, we connected instantly! I don't talk much, but she was so fun to talk to! The distance to where i resided was pretty far for her, I'd say about 40 miles away. Nevertheless, she arrived right on the dot (which was super early) to the time we agreed on! In her industry, you tend to meet some people that act like "divas", but she wasn't like that at all. She was very warm and welcoming. I told her that as part of the concept of my video shoot that I was going to pretend to wake up and go to sleep. I also showed her a couple of inspiration pictures, and she responded, "ok, so you want a messy, fabulous look, right?" YES, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! She understood my vision entirely! After my long time hairstylist broke up with me and moved away, I went through a few one-time stands with hairstylists before I found Mish when I was shopping for a hairstylist for my wedding. I decided to cancel my hair appointment with another stylist closer to home just to see who this girl with the amazing reviews is. After meeting Mish, I understand. Mish is crazy busy and in demand running from one appointment to the next but she gives you 100% attention while working on you. I haven't had my trial for my wedding yet since I want my hair to be longer before then but she did a nice job on my highlights and bang cut, as well as my "normal" styling...all of which she was able to do quickly (giving me greater confidence in her wedding hair/time management skills). There was a mixup with my appointment so she gave me a discount which I appreciated (since we are saving money for a wedding after all) but even without the discount her prices are reasonable. I've been going to Mish every 3 months for at least 2 years for cut and color. I'm very picky about who messes with my long thick hair and ever since I've met Mish, I won't see anyone else! She cares about how your hair looks after she's done, making sure that you love it just as much as she does. She also cares about the health of your hair and only uses quality products. I've mentioned my hair is long and she is very good about not cutting it short; I've had traumatic experiences with that! And I am completely obsessed with how she styles my hair with her hair dryer and round brush! It looks like soft waves that I just can't get with a curling iron. I've been going to Mish for YEARS now, and I refuse to go to anyone else. I lived in Irvine for a few years and would only ever let Mish touch my hair, even then! Her amazing work and easy-to-get-along-with personality really makes the whole experience so worth any trip. I think even if I lived on the other side of the world I'd wait until I could go to her to get my hair done! And she can do it all, from cut to color to even fixing the worst messes...let's just say that, on a trip to the Philippines once, I let my mom convince me to let one of the guys out there perm my hair. It. Was. A. Disaster. I was already going to Mish by then, and I sent her like the equivalent of a like sob session in an email. It was terrible, I think she still has the email. My only complaint is that I have to move to the Bay Area in 9 months, and Mish won't come with me!!! ;) Haha, but in all seriousness, Mish is the most amazing stylist I've ever met. She did my hair on October 1st for my wedding, and it was PERFECT! I had seen the reviews and thought I'd ask about her rates. I was shocked to see how reasonably priced she was, considering there were stylists with TERRIBLE reviews who charged way more. I will admit, it was a little difficult to get the appointment, but the wait was so worth it. Somewhere on her website or in an email I read that if she doesn't respond, just keep trying. I had to try a few times, but as soon as I got through I never had another issue. So, if you don't hear back right away, don't get discouraged!!!! Mish is really IN DEMAND with her clients, so she just has to 1.) make sure she has availability, and 2.) actually have a chance to step away from the salon to contact you. :) First, I did my trial run, and she knew EXACTLY what I wanted! When I got home, my then fiance was really excited (shocking from the guy who wears a white t-shirt every day). ;) It was literally perfect, and it held up all day and evening for my dress fitting, and a special date we had planned. We had a night out on the town, so I felt pretty good about it holding up for the wedding. Next I went back a week before the wedding to get a cut and highlights, and I have NEVER had a more amazing trip to the salon. Mish takes the time to make sure every last strand is perfect, and she explains exactly what you need to do to keep it looking good. Again, my then fiance stopped me in the bathroom a few days later to tell me that he's never seen me look better. And not in that whole, "I'll-be-cute-and-nice-before-our-wedding" kinda way. He was literally like....wow your cut and color makes you look fantastic! AND on top of that, I went to this appointment for 2 hours and had the BEST time. One look at Mish, and you think, "Wow, she's the cutest thing ever," but you start chatting and you realize she's SO sweet and kind! We had such a good time talking that we never even mentioned the wedding. It was absolutely what I needed a week before the big day. And then, of course, she shows up on the day, and it's like I'm getting my hair done by a good friend. Instead of being stressed, Mish is telling me cute stories about her boyfriend and family. I'm not even a little worried about getting ready or what time it is. I'm just having a blast, and she tells me to turn around so she can do the final touches. I turn....and BAM! Worst decision! Do not use her! I booked her over 6 months ago for a trial and for my wedding. Since I live out of town, I made sure to confirm my appointment and to keep in contact with her. 3 days before my flight to San Diego for this trial, I receive an email from her at 11:00pm saying she is cancelling my trial and my wedding. No phone call, no warning. Not only did she confirm my appt. but she knew I was flying in from out of town for this. The salon she works at confirmed my appt as well. They even called to confirm my appt after she cancelled on me. Clearly, there is a lack of communication between her and her salon. Another thing. you cannot talk to her by phone. She only answers you via email on the weekends and it takes her a week, sometimes two for her to respond. I would never recommend her to anyone. summers salon is great. i went to mish as well and had a cut, color and highlights. the whole time i was there she made me feel comfortable, like ive known her for the past 15 years. the atmosphere is real cool and they have a neat dress shop next door. shes great at listening to what you want to do with you hair and believe me she sure did DELIVER. she cut, colored, highlighted, shampooed , conditioned, blowdryed and volumized my stubborn hair all in under 2 1/2 hours. if your mad about aunties' cutting off 5 inches more than what you asked for, or your tired of the regular highlights and boring cut and want something " funky and fresh" call her up. i was on a huge hunt for a new stylist since mine had moved out of town and i just couldnt find anyone that WOWED me. until i was recommended to mish. I love Mish!!! I originally contacted her after seeing photos of her work on Yelp. I was looking for someone to do my engagement session hair. From the moment I spoke with Mish, she was super nice and I really did want to book her. My photos were on her day off though and the travel fee plus hair wasn't within my budget. mish made me look and feel wonderful on my wedding day - but i think that's just a basic requirement for a hair stylist to made the bride look amazing. what really impressed me is that she also styled the hair of the two moms - and being patient about it, made them look and feel fab. she requires a hair consult which i think cuts down on a lot of the stress of figuring out if they get what you want on your wedding day. i'm excited to go back to her for more hair services. :) she also collaborate with local san diego jewelry designer chris ching for some amazing hair pieces for weddings. check it out in the display case in the salon. read more

Mish is amazing. My hair looked fantastic, as did my sister's. The trial was mandatory and both Mish and I had pretty tight schedules but she made it work after I was unable to initially find an appointment slot on her online system. The trial was at her salon in Little Italy. On the day of the wedding, Mish came to our hotel room and was even a few minutes early. She also hung around after she was done just to make sure that my hair was back in place after being clipped back for foundation application. She incorporated a birdcage veil and small feather fascinator into an incredible look. My sister's hair also looked amazing. She had a totally different style but our looks were complementary. I also loved how clear Mish's website is and how easy it is to book online. She is quick to respond to her emails and is a consummate professional. She said she incorporated the online system within the last year (maybe two?) and it really helped her track everything. I highly recommend her and I'm going to use her online system to book a regular haircut appointment too! read more

Mish has been cutting my hair for years now which, considering how fast my hair grows, is a lot of cuts. Every time I am greeted with such enthusiasm that the experience is more of a time to catch up with an old friend than a business transaction. With that being said, my hair comes out looking great every time. I trust her thoughts on current styles and appropriate cuts when considering my aesthete and personality. She has never been wrong! Plus she gives sound and easy advice about how to style my hair on my own. If I can pull it off at home on my own, that is a sign of a solid cut. read more

Mish did all the hair for my sister and her bridesmaids (including myself), and she was absolutely wonderful. My sister was singing her praises long before the morning of the wedding, and she wasn't wrong. Mish did my hair at 5:30am (hooray for morning weddings!), and it looked great all day long, and even looked pretty damn gorgeous and shiny when I took out all the pins at 10:00 pm. She is a master of the art of curling hair with a straight iron, and is really fast and efficient without any loss in quality. I've paid more for hairstyles that fell down a couple of hours later! The other bridesmaids were also very impressed with how well their curls stayed well into the evening. On top of that, Mish is just a really nice person, and a pleasure to work with. She was up front with her prices, which were reasonable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mish to anyone who wants gorgeous wedding day hair without a lot of drama! read more
