So let me start off by saying..... This place gets 5 stars from everyone for a reason. I was referred by my nail tech. First thing I did was go on her Instagram I was like WOW her work is amazing. I booked a consultation which is super easy online. Once I had my consultation I basically wanted her to do whatever she thought would be amazing ( I had given up on my sad frail hair) so I walk into my appointment, not only is her team all beautiful but they're SO FRIENDLY! the decor is modern and homey feeling. So now she starts my hair and her wonderful assistant Gabe helps also. I have in my head that whatever happens... It'll be better than what I have.... Im so excited to say I found my stylist and salon here in San Diego! I wanted to go drastic, I have Asian hair so it's hard to go light, so I wanted to find the best. Ok so, I never give bad yelp reviews, but this needs to be said. Let me begin by saying I called to make my first appointment (mid july). No one answered. I left a message. No one called me back. Decided to text and I got a text back 2 days later with some link to her website reservation system. Uh ok. Finally get my appointment, go to their extremely overcrowded salon and meet with Ally. I should of known right off the bat what type of quality service i would get based on how fake and annoyed this girl was. She was annoyed because I didn't "book enough time for highlights" but sorry, I wasn't trained in salon bookings. Answer your phone and schedule your clients and you won't have this problem. Not my fault. Anyway, she is like 20 years old (not like im much older - im 26, but whatever), and she acts like she knows everything and then some. She's been doing hair for maybe 2 years?! Moving on. She pretends to listen but she is going to do what she wants to do anyway bc at the end of the day she just wants to talk to the other girls in the salon about her boyfriend. Fine. I get my color done (it was like pulling teeth). I asked for a beachy light blonde on my locks (I have been born and raised in SD and i already have sunkissed hair to begin with), and I got the color of my barbie's hair (orange gold) thanks to Color by Ally. I asked her what was up, and she said my hair is "naturally warm." her words. No its not. I've had my hair colored before and it didnt look like this, and her instagram has the colors i wanted. Does she photosho them? Whatever. She then somehow has time to convince me to get this tape extensions for length (my hair is decent length), and for some reason i listen. WORST MISTAKE EVER. This stuff destroys your hair. Literally, garbage. So i leave like $500 bucks later. Not sure why she has 2 dollar signs on her yelp. She is WAY expensive. Im talking LA prices. She has all her girlfriends working in there just pushing away at everyone to put a ton of fake hair in. So i leave. I come back 6-7 weeks later (this was last week) to give her a second chance because i loved her instagram pics, and now not only am i orange, but half my hair is missing. She tries to tell you that your hair has "grown so much" that why the tapes move, but really, the glue is just fading and its sliding down your hair, all while its ripping out. I tell her to take them out and i'm never putting that garbage back in my hair she gives me major attitude, and then bulges her eyes at her sidekick the asian girl (I forget her name). I asked her to tone and trim my hair (she's never coloring it again), and another $150 later ($60 for the saddest haircut ever), i left. Never again. I am not sure what all of these reviews are, but I am sure its just her friends or sorority sisters yelping her. The only good thing about this place is her poor assistant (the guy- George?). I have no idea how he deals with any of those girls in there. read more
