The restaurant is very unassuming located in a small strip mall. We parked in the back parking lot and noticed a sign next to the door for a $7.95 lunch special which included a sampling of their menu. The three of us dining went with that. The waitress did tell us that there was a $2 up charge since that sign was installed. The special included chicken, beef, kufta, hummus, salad, and rice. Served with a side of pita bread. The chicken and beef were very flavorful and moist. The salad was fresh and crunchy with a simple olive oil dressing. The lifts was a bit dry and the rice was good, not anything over the top. The star, the hummus!! It was absolutely delicious, smooth, creamy, with the freshest lemon flavor. Everything is cooked very freshly and the service it was great. We arrived at about three on a Thursday and had just missed a lunch special. I ordered the half and half I chose the steak Kabob along with the chicken shawarma. The shawarma was actually more like grilled chicken pieces, which I actually preferred. My husband had the kofka kabob which he didn't care for compared to other places. The falafel was really good. The lady chef was very accommodating and made me feel as if I were a guest in her home. My wife and I came here with one of our professors who really liked this place. A couple other friends were there too, and most of us really enjoyed our meals. I love Mediterranean food, and it was really refreshing that this place had some options other than the conventional falafel and shawerma (which are obviously good). I picked a beef stroganoff that sounded tasty. It had broccoli, mushrooms, rice, beef, and a creamy sauce. Indeed, it was delicious. There wasn't a lot notable about the experience to write about, but that doesn't mean I wasn't satisfied. I've updated my review but one can still see the original review below, and actually decided that 1-star was a bit too harsh after reading the manager's reply (she took it like a champ), but many of my points still stand which overall allowed me to bump this up a star, but no more when averaging everything. However, this updated review will be less-ranting and more recommendations. I'd hate to see this place go....given it is the only good Middle Eastern place nearby. FOOD (still totally recommend - 5 out of 5) My first update will be on the food, which I originally gave a 3 stars, but upon further thinking, them being "out of many things" isn't even a food issue, but more so a management issue, so the updated review for the food itself is a 5 out of 5, because pretty-much everything I've had at this place was out of this world, lick-your-plate clean good....again not sure if they're on Uber Eats or DoorDash, but if they are - even I, a person who gave a bad review based solely on a dining experience, still plans on ordering from this place to-go (so that shows how good I think the food is here). RECOMMENDATIONS I did see the "Help Wanted" inside, I'm not sure if one is displayed outside but perhaps there should be a "Help Wanted" sign outside. Additionally, Indeed.com and Glassdoor are some great platforms to put job listings. Definitely has some pros and cons, which makes you feel like you could have either a fantastic meal here, or something less than that. It might be a bit of a coin toss. Service was friendly and attentive, and while our food took a little while to come out, it really felt like it was being made fresh. Our plates came out steaming hot. The chicken thighs plate was solid and seasoned well. Some perfect, some a little overdone. The rice and veggie sides were pretty tasteless and lackluster. Our hummus was good, but with a little too much oil. Again, some good, some bad. Prices were respectable. I'd definitely come again, maybe just not go out of my way for it. read more

We went there this past week (July 2023) hoping to have good meal and a reasonable service. Even though one of the employees there told us right of the bat that it would take a pretty long time to be served, which was a good honest hint, we agreed to stay. The issue began when we saw how one of the only two employees (I thinks she was the chef) treated us. The other waitress was fine and friendly but the chef (who told us about the long wait time) was not friendly and courteous enough. She pretty much brought the appetizer (the salad, which was fresh and tasty, by the way), put it on the table, and asked indifferently whether we want plates or not. No smile, no sign of empathy as we were already waiting for just the appetizer for about half an hour.What's more, after another 15 minutes she came back and asked one of use as to how he wanted his beef to be prepared. He replied but somewhat she didn't understand and instead, asked him if he has an issue with her. He replied what he preferred and turned around and she replied that she would prepare the way she thought it would be good. Later on, when she brought our dishes, she tossed our buddy's dish on the table! I understand that they were under staff but I noticed the same issue back in 2019 when my wife and I dined there for the first time, hence giving them 4/5 stars back then (looks that few other customers had noticed the same issue, too). Such an issue should be addressed already. Regardless, if you are under staff and/or deal with other challenges, it is not your customer's fault. They deserve to be treated appropriately. read more

My brother is new to the Munster area and wanted to check out this restaurant for his birthday. I was not excited with his choice since I am not usually a fan of any Mediterranean type food however most of what we tried here I really enjoyed and would get again. They were out of the chicken thighs (first option) but I got the chicken and asparagus- I liked how juicy the chicken was and the creamy sauce was delicious. I was not a big fan of the rice so didn't really touch that (and rice is my favorite food, just not these particular spices it was cooked with) and the vegetables were "whatever" I also tried the beef strogganoff which was very delicious as well. I probably like the beef over my dish but both creamy sauces made the entrees great. I did not like the grape leaves at all as an appetizer but the other items (not ordered by me so unsure of the names) were delicious. We also split the cranberry salad as a table and this was very fresh and delicious. The service is definitely slower than your typical restaurant. Our server was new and had to ask the chef many questions but she came out a few times to ask how things were and also to help us know which food had gluten since we had a gluten allergy in our group. We were also the only table there for a good chunk of the time so I'm not sure how much longer it would have been if it was a "busy" time. I'm giving this place 5 stars because you can tell the chef is putting her heart and soul into this place, especially the food. We ordered takeout and had the kibbeh, tabouleh, hummus, baba ghanouj, house salad, and mish platter. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing! She had some help, but you can tell the lady is doing the heavy lifting to keep this place afloat. Called ahead just to make sure that there would be a table available only to get turned away at the door despite clearly available tables. Mom was really upset over this as this was ment to be here birthday meal. Dining room allows so few in its carry out only (assuming they have carry out at this point.) I have been coming here for years. It was a random find, like finding a diamond in you own yard. Quickly became a must go, must have! Don't let the outside fool you, the food will over whelm your senses. All the dishes are wonderful. We always start with humus and hot tea. Humus is a great starter and not too filling and just a touch spicy with the fresh diced jalapeño on top. The tea has a nice minty flavor and the pine nuts round out the flavors. Try a salad so you can get some of their homemade salad dressing. It is one of the best you will ever have. Being a pescatarian, I focus on the fish and vegetarian dishes. I always appreciate the fresh vegetables. I have had both fish and vegetable dishes and have never been disappointed. This family owned restaurant is run by Hal. She cooks, runs the house and is wonderful. She remembers you and knows your preferences. The rest of the team is very nice and personable. Seating is decent for small to medium sized groups.
