Ok ok, I thought the food was ok. The beef kabob was seasoned very nicely but the rice and vegetables... no flavor. The server could have been more personable. When I was leaving, the lady cooking came out and asked how lunch was, I said good. I didn't lie. Service was excellent! The chef was sympathetic with my fiance, it was his first Mediterranean meal experience and he felt it was overcooked. It was re-made and there was no fuss, no muss. We were warned when we entered by what I assume is the owner, that she was by herself and running slow. I wasn't in a hurry so we sat down to wait . Not ordinarily a problem but that womens attitude is so offensive. She was obviously irritated because some one didn't show up to help this evening, but she shouldn't take it out on the customer. She tried to discourage every person that came in to dine . If you don't need the money and you are in a crappy mood, hang up the closed sign and call it a day. My family has been coming to Mishkenut forever and it is our all-time favorite restaurant. Many of us live out of town and when we visit, coming in for dinner at Mishkenut is high on our list. I dream of the beef stroganoff, among all our other favorites (you have to get the babaganoush, and the apple cranberry salad, and the chicken shawarma, really you just have to keep coming back so you can try it all). We started with the hummus and grape leaves (best hummus I've had in the US), and tried two different appetizers. I had the eggplant and falafel wrap and my husband had the chicken kabob. We loved them both!! This is not some fancy restaurant, but I actually much prefer this type of family-friendly/simple/"you'll get to know the staff" type of restaurant. I like lamb kabobs as well, but the meat is not as juicy as lamb chops. One star is missing because the ventilation system is not very strong, and you can smell the unpleasant smells from cooking entire restaurant. read more

Went there with my wife last Saturday. Ordered the Mish Special which includes chicken and beef kabob, chicken shawerma, kufta, falafel, hummus and rice. The food was good, the reason for the 3 stars is all related to timing. I can make Pork Vindaloo from start to finish is about 35 minutes. That's including making a pot of rice to go along with the dish. We were there for about 1 1/2 hours waiting on food. The hummus came out quickly, about 15 minutes after the order was placed, the falafels came out about 15 minutes after that, then it was about another 45 minutes to 1 hour until the main course. The food was really good, seasoning was as expected with Mediterranean food. The problem was timing. Sorry to say, the only way I would go to this place again is for a carry-out. read more

Great quality and flavorful food. Run by a very nice and hardworking lady and family. The Kabob, Shawarma, and salads are all outstanding. My family has visited several times and we also did catering for a large gathering last month and was equally delicious at scale. COVID staff shortages require you to have some patience as the owner can be understaffed at time but she works hard to keep the tables waited and customers cared. This place has some of the freshest food ever cooked. The falafel is homemade, flavorful and moist. The spinach pies are my absolute favorite (along with the falafel wrap).
