Wow. We ordered the beef tofu soup (medium) and the spicy pork dinner. Both dishes were so yummy and full of flavor. Love love love! I think I have to say it's the best soon tofu in La Crescenta/Montrose (and we've been to almost all of the soon tofu/kbbq places here). And the spicy pork? My family's favorite kbbq restaurant is Kang Ho Dong BaekJong - locations in Koreatown and other places. And they have this spicy pork dish that is so sweet & spicy with thin strips of pork. Well, this is almost like that- not as sweet though but oh my gosh it's so flavorful! Now I don't have to go to Ktown or even out of LC/Montrose! Strictly talking about the taste of soon doobu (tofu), it's one of the best in the LC/Tuhunga/Glendale area, bar none. I've been to Tofu Love, Cho Dang, and others, but quality wise this place is the best. First time trying this small Korean restaurant and I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. The bahn chahn was nice and at a higher quality than other Korean restaurants. We ordered a chicken teriyaki soon tofu combo and a fish dish and both came out cooked well. The biggest compliment I can give is that my 4 year old daughter enjoyed her meal and ate without me having to constantly remind her and encourage her. We got food to go for dinner, and it was so good, we went back the next day for Tofu Soup lunch! Stir-Fried Spicy Pork with Vegetables and Tofu Soup my favorite. Just the right spiciness for both. Put the rice into the soup liquid. Heaven. The Seafood Udon incredible! (Nice if I could choose the seafood -- shrimp, fish, octopus, squid -- preferable to mussels and crab.) The potstickers are unusual and delicious. My husband loved the BBQ beef and chicken teriyaki, but to me they did not stand out. Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) was bland, but nicely cooked - good for dipping in yummy sauces! We went in person to order the to-go food because when we tried to order over the phone, communication was impossible. Nevertheless, the staff is pleasant and efficient when you get there. Eat-in is a little noisy, dinner meal is VERY busy and there is a wait. The place is very clean. It will take some practice and experimentation to be able to order over the phone. read more

The food is yummy and the flavor in Soon Tofu sauce they use is different than other restaurants which is just to my liking. It's located where the old Tofu Village used to be. There's a small parking lot if you go up the little hill thing right before the restaurant or you can try to park on the street. It's nice and clean inside. Nice service, they promptly refilled our waters and asked if we needed anything. But there were only 2 tables there so I don't know how it would be if it got more business. They give you a small bowl of salad and fried fish as appetizers. Good thing about coming to a new place is that you get a nice, freshly fried fish! The sides were alright. I got the Beef + Seafood Tofu. You get a big piece of shrimp and couple pieces of clam and oysters. The beef isn't like other places because they give you pieces of chadol. It gives a more fatty and rich flavor. The soup was alright. Good balance and not too strong or salty. They also give you the stone pot rice and they put hot water in it for you as well. Overall, it's just like any other tofu place with the same prices as well. Don't know why they would open another in La Crescenta... They serve Gal Bi Tang so I might come to try that sometime. read more

Tried this place the other night, and I was pleased with the experience. I ordered a meat dish + soon tofu combo. The pan chan was fresh, and a small delicious fried fish came with it. Should've listened to my gut and ate at home. Now my gut is giving me an appointment with the bathroom. I thought it was only me feeling the wrath of improperly handled food that caused this but, my brother is feeling it as well. To get your tofu fill head over to the one in Montrose or just make the drive to korea town. Food- i can make better. This is my first time to try this restaurant & I will never ever go back to this restaurant, the person who attended to us first of all gave us a very small table that is good for one person. There was an empty booth so I ask him if we could sit there instead & he said we have to wait five minutes so I said that's fine. so it's been more than five minutes & he is still not cleaning the empty booth so I stood up & said why is the booth not ready yet & he sad they are busy . I said it's my first time here & he's totally ignoring us I ask him how long does it take to buss a table so finally he had one of his co workers buss the table which could have been done without us waiting for so long. I guess he did it on purpose because we did not want the small table. And how dare that he kept on asking us why we are upset. so I ended up not eating there I told him you have such bad service. Food was good, but service was horrible. The female server wanted me to sit at a tiny table just by the entrance because I came alone. I refused because I don't like being by the entrance. When I refused, the server still tried to fit me at a tiny and uncomfortable corner. I would've not been upset if that's their general practice. However, the next customer came in as a party of one, the server let her sit at a bigger table rather than trying to put her at where she wanted me to sit. Food here is pretty good. I've tried their tofu soup, donkatsu and a few other dishes and the only thing I really didn't have a taste for was their kalguksu. I would visit here with my son about once a week or once every 2 weeks.. The last time I was here, my 2 year old son felt ill and threw up all over himself and slightly on me and the seat we were sitting in. My problem with this place is that after seeing what had happened. We were COMPLETELY IGNORED AND NOT EVEN OFFERED A RAG TO HELP ME CLEAN UP. I literally had to ask the guy that works there for some paper towels and run in and out of the bathroom to clean up the mess. Not once did anyone show any empathy or care.. or even ask if we were okay. We were ignored from then on. I cleaned up 95% of the mess, which I don't mind.. but show some care or offer a dirty rag or something when accidents like that happen. Your food may be good, but human kindness is more important. Your food can be replaced. Ordered a lunch galbi tang soup and the portion is huuuuuuge! They put so much meat in it.. if your a meat loving soupy type person.. this is worth getting. The soup is tasty and perfect for a cold day or night out. Next time I want to try their tofu soups. I hear the donkatsu here is yummy here as well read more

Came here 2 times, and the food has always been solid. The restaurant is clean, and I never had an issue with service. The price is reasonable, especially during lunch hours. My favorite item in the menu is the kimchi mackerel! I can never make it very well at home, and I personally hate cooking fish in the house so Miso Tofu makes it easy for me to get my fix of "jorim" when I am feeling lazy, haha. Soontubunwas wimpy and disappointing... the place is severely understaffed on a Sunday night which resulted in: tables being unbussed for over twenty minutes making our wait over 40 minutes, had to self-serve water halfway through meal, panchan was never checked or replenished, dishes arrived haphazardly, had to bus our own platters to make room for food, etc. It's too bad that a place with potentially good food isn't run more effectively... they need a bus boy, someone to handle servicing the tables, someone to serve food as it comes out.... it was a whole lot of "multitasking" which resulted in a miserable dinner for the family. read more

I've been here a few times so far, and their best dishes in my opinion are Dduk-bok-gi ( spicy korean rice cake) and spicy seafood noodle. The portions are large and udon noodle is cooked to perfection. Parking is horrible and service is on the slow side and staff doesn't seem friendly or efficient. FINALLY, La Crescenta has GOOD KOREAN FOOD. You'd think that with the Korean population that resides in this town, with all the Korean markets and restaurants, we'd have some good options. And while you're waiting in the front, you can see the kitchen staff working and you just know that they take their jobs seriously and that they care about their food quality. This place is actually pretty good for being a Korean restaurant in the area. There are not a lot of Korean food options in the area I can maybe think of two more. When having the tofu soup it's actually better quality than chodang which is a tofu soup place in montorse. The food is fresh and tasty. I had to knock off one star for service. They are quite slow and it can take a while for your food to come out. It may not be as fast but it may be that they take their time with food prep which can be a good thing if your stomach has the patience to wait.
