    So delicious!
    Giulliano P.

Absolutely incredible I was very surprised to even know that I had a really tasty Korean barbecue place right here in Glendale!! I'm so used to driving down to Alhambra or Koreatown for some tasty Korean barbecue and this place did not disappoint!! First of all our waiter, Elijah had incredible energy and kicked off one of the best dinners I've had in a long time and was an incredible server!! He recommended his top four and we instantly went with it, and it was spot on!! Throughout the night, he would come in and check on us and make sure that we were good but allowed us to have great conversation! We ordered the Bulgogi, steak, short rib, beef, belly, and so many more, and every single one seemed to have incredible flavor or some sort of garnish that went with it I'm so used to constantly dipping my meat in oil or salt and this is the first time that I have ever barely touched the side dish All the meat was incredibly delicious!! I would highly recommend this place and I'm definitely coming back!

Food was okay, the garlic beef belly though was really good! I didn't know it was on the menu. This time around, the service was okay, it was not busy during lunch but the service was slow due to them having a mixup in the back with the sauces being mislabeled. Despite their kindness, my friends and I had to constantly ask the servers for updates.

I came for lunch and it was a great experience! It was a weekday so it wasn't busy but that's what I actually prefer-- usually kbbq places get busy and crowded on weekends, long waits, and service not the best. Anyways, everything we ordered came in correctly. Meats flavored well. Fresh crunchy flavorful salad - not soggy and drenched with dressing. Great service - brought the plates out quickly. No complaints!

Gen Korean BBQ serves some great food and at a reasonable price, especially compared to others. At $31 for a weekend price, that's pretty incredible. You get about 30 choices and a bunch of appetizers included. Also comes with rice and salad. Standard Korean BBQ place where you cook your meats and eat. Be careful what you order, though, because if you can't finish it, you get charged $5 for wasting an item. Pretty standard at these places. The ball was really dropped with the service, though. As my wife and I were seated, we waited for a waiter, that never showed up. After about 20 minutes, we pulled a random waiter from another side and asked what the heck was happening. The dude, whose name was Ethan, was very kind and amazing. He took over and helped us with everything we needed. He was a great guy and deserves the recognition, and I hope he gets recognized for going above and beyond. However, apparently we had a girl waiter who was supposed to be our main waiter but instead avoided us and did not assist us. When she was confronted and was told that she basically ignored us and we were upset, her reaction was to look at us and say"I don't care," like she thought I did not see or hear her, but guess what, girly! I did! Needless to say, this obviously pissed me the F off, and I had to inform management of the issue. The manager apologized and corrected the issue and made sure we were taken care of. I don't like to be this crazy about these things, but sometimes you just have to in order to bring the attention of management to this behavior from people who clearly don't want to work. Aside from the issue that the manager did resolve, Ethan attended to us well and provided us with everything we needed, and our experience was great while we were attended by him. Safe to say he saved our experience, and management heard our concerns. Thanks to these people for stepping up and being great. Much appreciated.

We only ordered two meals, but the wait was very long. The rice had a hair in it--possibly from improper hygiene--and the place smelled unpleasant. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

    Metal shaving in meat.
    Manuel J.

Service was atrocious today. They kept forgetting our order and to top it off there was a shaving from a piece of metal in the meat. Never going back.

I've never been to this Gen location but decided to give it in a try since I was shopping in the area. The server was friendly however forgot to bring out some of the sides until after asking a few times. I asked for smaller portions which the server assisted, with the exception of the Korean fried chicken. She mentioned that the portion was small however it wasn't that small and my party was not able to finish it. Other downsides were that the japchae was a little too salty and at times there were no employees around to assist with a grill change.

Ask the Community - Gen Korean BBQ House

Have they stopped using the Yelp wait list? I used it a month ago but didn't see it today when we went?

I've been checking and it's never there anymore which is a huge bummer, we honestly won't go if we have to wait around - I can't see the upside of getting rid of the yelp waitlist! BRING IT BACK!!

    Do they accept cash?

    Yes

Should I make a reservation for a weeknight'?

    Yes, that's always best!

Do they offer corn cheese at this location?

What time is your last call for weekend hours?

As of 12/16/2022, it depends on who is working the front counter and who your server is for the night. Sometimes, it's an hour before closing time and sometimes, provided that you are already seated at a table, they'll let you keep ordering meat… Read more

Can a party of 1 person eat or is it 2 minimum?

Party of 1 is always welcomed and sometimes needed.

Do you need to still show your vaccine card?

    No, not required anymore

You guys allow cats? Even thought if the cat stay in their backpack?

Legally you're only allowed to cook beef, pork, or chicken for protein. Cats are considered domestic animals.

We have a vegetarian in our group. Can the mushroom and vegetable option be cooked separate from the meet to accommodate them or is there any off menu option?

That's considered going above and beyond their normal job duties. Might want to include a 40% tip.

Do they accept home negative test?

Nope. Has to be CDC official card.

Is proof of Covid vaccination still required for dining in?

    No. That nightmare is over!

Hey saying I can just bring home negative test they want me to bring the actual test with me or how does this work if I use home test?

As of 12/16/2022, showing the physical, valid CDC proof of vaccination is no longer required for dining in.

How much per person on dinner?

It's on their website. Last time I went it was 26.99? I think. But it's one menu. No A B or C.

    Are vaccine cards required?

    Yes

Do I need reservations for 15 people?

I don't believe they take reservations. But that could also depend on location. They do have a Waitlist on Yelp.

Is there a time limit for dining?

    Yes it's a 90 minute time limit

What time is your lunch special over?

As of 12/16/2022, there are no lunch, dinner, and/or drink specials anymore. The menu doesn't note it, there were no banners or posters or table stands on-site indicating otherwise. It is either AYCE, which is a single, flat rate price of $28.99… Read more

Gus's Famous Burger was one of my favorite burgers I've had recently. Ordered the potato salad as my side and couldn't have been more satisfied. I'd recommend any of these items if you're on the fence. I think it's important to review that we had all of this as a takeout order, so I can only imagine how much more delicious this would be if we dined in and ate everything right away. Gus's Barbecue is definitely going to be a repeat visit for us. There's so much more we want to try off of their menu. Can't wait to come back soon and dine in!

We hadn't visited since February, 2020. Before the pandemic might as well have been 10 years ago, if the world shut down 6 years ago. We were overdue for a followup visit. Judging by how the food went down, we were sore for it. We ordered the Big Tex: four meats and four sides - tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork and links; kale greens, bbq beans, mac and cheese and fries. We opted for the cornbread in the roll slot. It should be the top meats in your order, by premium scale and availability, but more often than they should be, the brisket/tri-tip selections are, 90%, obligatory orders. I think I have a love/hate relationship with the way LA treats the pepperoni pizza of bbq meats. Swinging Door broke us off proper though. Not too fatty. Great tenderism. And the accompanying sauce complemented the smoked all stars, rather than compensated for lack of flavor. Didn't stop me from loving their Whiskey bbq sauce though. The beans were a true bbq side, swimming in a mild sauce and containing lovely chunks of link. And the kale greens - sheesh - I think they might've switched to kale since our first visit. An effective exercise in alternative ruffage that holds seasoning and jucies for a similar bbq/soulfoud bite. We live further away now. Took the food to go, to prevent the intermittent rain from foiling more of our plans. It traveled well. And since I'm using our leftover bbq sauce on every other meal I cook, I'd say we successfully made do with our lunch substitute.

They state there's a lot behind the building to park at, but it looks liked you have to pay and we weren't sure which lot. So we just did street parking. We did go around 1:30 pm on a Thursday, so did not have much of an issue with finding street parking. Inside the restaurant, they have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. There's no wait staff, so you go to the counter and order and once it's ready, they call your name/number and you pick up your tray of food from the counter. We ordered the El trio platter, which comes with 1 lbs of brisket, 1 lbs of pork ribs, 2 sausages (chili relleno and cheddar jalapeno) and 2 sides (which we chose Mac and cheese and red potato salad). We also saw the burgers from YouTube so got 2 of the Thicc burgers to share among everyone. We got a sides of the Texas chili to try. Everything was great. After a long day at the dentist's office and not being able to eat for a whole hour, I was…read moreliterally starving and wanted to try Paapaiii BBQ. This restaurant is an Armenian/Georgian/Eastern European style eatery. I was there yesterday around 4:15pm. As I was about to walk in, Gayane with a pleasant smile wanted to know if I wanted to eat in or order food to go. I told her I would like to sit on the patio, soak up the sun and the beautiful weather. She brought me a menu and looking at the menu which had a lot of entreés to choose from, I decided to go with their 5x Large Khinkali with ground beef that was topped and garnished with fresh cilantro & pomegranate. I also ordered 1x Large Blinchik (stuffed with Meat) & 1x large Chicken BBQ Wrap that came with a side of tomato sauce. The Chicken Wrap was toasted very well and inside were a lot of healthy vegetables: Mayo, Ketchup, Raw Onions, Pickles, Cilantro, Lettuce & tomato. All the fine dishes tasted divine, flavorful and very fresh!! I also wanted to try couple of their fruit juices and the Mikado dessert, but she told me they were out. It's ok, there will definitely be a next time because I am planning to return back next time I am in Glendale. For one person it was a lot of food. Total came out to be $57.38. Didn't make or break the bank. Was very content & happy with my dining experience!! Comfortable setting and had some left overs too.. Street parking only, bright BIG, clean gender neutral restroom and would like to thank Gayane, Evgenii, and Paapaiii BBQ for an outstanding/fantastic service!!:-))

It was impossible to ignore. On our third visit, we ordered a specific lemonade, but were given a completely different one, and it was close to its expiration date. This level of quality and service is unacceptable. We are extremely disappointed and will not be coming back.
