Out of all the Korean restaurants in LC, this place is the best by far. Food taste authentic and delicious. The best thing I've tried here is the charred spicy pork ribs and the intestine soup. Our Tofu soups were very hearty and full of flavor, my beef was a little chewy though. Cold Bibimbap was good and the hot plate bulgogi yummy. Purple rice sealed the deal. So good!! And a great left over. This place is always busy and a good value and people who want their favorite server doting on them should plan to go somewhere else and pay a lot more. Food is solid. They didn't have enough servers for their lunch rush. I'm not deducting points on that bc I'm sure it's difficult for a small new business to get started. The banchan tasted fresh, the soon tofu with seafood, beef, and pork was tasty and hearty. My bro got the combo meal w bulgogi and it was good. if you're looking for soontofu and you're too far from ktown bc you live in tujunga, glendale, la crescenta, la canada, or montrose... this is the place for you. hahaha. we've tried several other soontofu spots along Foothill Blvd., and i really don't want to knock any of the other businesses down since i love small businesses/mom-and-pop shops, but... Miso Tofu is by far the best. if you're a fan of BCD soontofu, you'll get kind of the same set-up here-- with the banchan, the little fried fish, an egg to crack into your soontofu, and your soontofu. Just make sure not to forget that they close on Mondays (I've gone on Monday way too many times...) AND try to come closer to opening for dinner.... there's sometimes a pretty long waitlist for this place. read more

Love their bibimnaengmyun (spicy cold noodle). It's spicy and full of flavor, the noodles are easy to chew - so so good and perfect for summer. It's a bit pricey at $18 total after taxes but it's a big portion size and worth it. read more

I can't believe the best soondooboo I have ever had is in La Crescenta!! I have gotten so used to the mass produced taste of BCD and So Kong Dong tofu that I didn't really know any better. I ordered my usual soon tofu (kimchi with beef, medium) and the flavors were really developed...sometimes soondooboo can be watery or taste like instant ramen broth. Also the pieces of beef in the soondooboo were galbi pieces. I have never seen that before. The soon tofu really hit the spot today. I can't wait to try some of their other stuff. read more

EDIT: I've come to the realization that they've been pouring boiling hot soup into styrofoam containers for to-go orders. This may be the culprit for my stomach pains and not the actual food itself, as many reviewers having been dining in previously. If you order to go - do yourself a favor and ask for PAPER containers. After going to the Seoul Cham Soot place, I came across this one that was closer to the Korean markets on Foothill Blvd. After coming here, I don't have any reason to go back to SCS unless there was an important Dodger game on. Enough about SCS, let's talk about Miso! Here is my review: PARKING: While there is street parking available here, there is a parking lot behind the restaurant that requires a little bit of steep hiking to get to your car. My advice is to try and find parking on the street if you can. WAIT STAFF: It never ceases to amaze me how hard the head waitress works at this place. The unfortunate part is that she has to work that hard because they have not been able to keep a second waitress for all too long. Every time I have been there, there is always another person! In appreciation to the head waitress, I show her my appreciation by giving her more than the normal 18% tip! FOOD: Although I have tried a lot of the items on the menu, there are a few dishes that do stand out: 1. Korean BBQ - The portions are quite good and the ingredient quality is on point. What sets this place apart from others is that they use charcoal (but they cook it in the kitchen area) to cook their BBQ. That being typed, I would recommend the short ribs as part of the soondooboo combo! If you like the chewy gristle part of the meat like I do, they provide the long version of the bone for that. You might need to fight with the other members of your party for dibs! 2. Donkatsu (pork cutlet) - For the amount of pork cutlet that Miso provides, it's like they can feed 3 people with one portion! My advice to you is to ask for the dks sauce on the side because the cook douses the meat with it and it can be soggy. 3. Yuk-kae-jahng (spicy beef soup) and chaang-chi-gook-soo (banquet noodle soup - back in the old country, this dish would be served to Korean royalty during special occasions) - The dishes are quite flavorful and they give you a good amount of solid ingredients (i.e. beef, noodles etc.) that I would be surprised if anyone was still hungry after consuming all of this goodness! 4. Soondooboo (silken tofu soup) - Miso has come a long way from when they first opened. Their first menus were quite blah and didn't have much variety to it. Their soondooboos were equally bland and lacked flavor. Within the last few months, they were able to not only revamp their menu to provide more offerings, but they are offering some non-traditional versions as well (i.e. ham, cow intestine - don't knock it until you try it). VERDICT: I have been coming here at least once every two weeks and for good reason! Good service (at least from the head waitress, when she is not overly busy), good food with good portions and a clean restaurant make me come back for more. read more

I've had a few different things here. The Korean BBQ entrees are all delicious, but the spicy pork is my favorite. All the BBQ dishes are served cooked, on a hot iron platter. Soups come in an individual size or a hot pot size that can serve 2-3. They also come with mixed rice. The spicy seafood and bean paste seafood soups are both good. I think they've got clams, shrimp, squid, and fish mixed in the seafood soups. The spicy braised short ribs aka galbi jiim was recommended by the staff (owner?) as their best "soup" and it didn't disappoint. Thick chunks of tender short rib in a DELICIOUS spicy sauce. It goes perfectly with the rice that's provided. I only wish I lived closer to this place. read more

I was always a bit skeptical of trying this place because the way it looked from outside... I even thought it was closed. Tofu soup- very authentic and basic. No fancy toppings or veggies other than the topping that you order. But the broth is flavorful enough. Galbi- the best of the best. Super tender and the meat is full of flavors. I live near by and I order from here maybe once or twice a week. No matter any dishes I Togo, it's all really good and tasty. I'm the type that likes to try the newly opened restaurants in the area and root for them to succeed. I don't know if it's because we're not Korean, but not only were we not greeted upon entering, it took them 15 minutes to finally come to our table to take our order, food took 45 minutes to arrive, no one checked in on us to see if we needed anything and I had to get up from my table twice and ask them for togo boxes and then again for the check. Parties that came in after us came and left while we were still there....not because we eat slow but because they were tended to immediately. As for the food, we ordered the combo Galbi plates and it comes with your choice of tofu soup. Meat was tender but had no flavor while the tofu soup medium had no kick at all whatsoever! I had a worst dining experience at this restaurant. I ordered gobchang stew today and while eating I noticed something shining and saw that it was a part of the metal scrubbing. Oh my gosh not only did they not apologize but they had the audacity to demand me to pay for that meal. Please do not go to this restaurant. This is our favorite go to Korean restaurant near LC area. I believe it is a family owned restaurant, they are very friendly and provide excellent service. Price is very affordable with good portions. We really enjoy the galbi and nengmyun combo, especially the bibim nengmyun is very delicious. Their grilled galchi (beltfish) is one of my favorites. it was my first time in the area and this was the first place i tried! i got the udon and pork cutlet combo. the cutlet was so crispy and the sauce it came with was so yummy :) the udon was served in a stone pot so it stayed the perfect temperature the whole time! i'm a super slow eater so that was very helpful. food came out very quickly ^^ all the employees here are very attentive especially jun. come here for some authentic korean food! read more

As far as La Crescenta/La Canada/Tujunga area goes, this is the best tasting Korean restaurant without trekking to K-town. Hence 5 stars. If this was in Koreatown, it'll be around 4 stars. I've tried many different items and they are probably the best around the area - YukGeJang (spicy beef & vege soup), GalBiTang (beef rib soup) I highly recommend the GalBiJJim (braised beef rib either spicy or non spicy) since it's much cheaper than that you'll find in K-town ($25-26 compared to K town's $50 price range) it's big and delicious. Definitely will over stuff 2 adults or share with 3-4 people with other items. These items are good as other restaurants as it's hard to mess these up. BBQ beef Rib (GalBi), BulGoGI (Marinated ribeye), Spicy pork, Tofu Soup. They were all good I was bit disappointed in NengMyun (cold buckwheat noodle) at times. It would be descent at times but 1 times it was pretty bad. AJ Noodle had this dish which is pretty solid. We stopped by this place since it's closer to Sunland. The dishes are really tasty and authentic. We tried many dishes. You gotta try the hot stone bibimbab. $10.99 lunch / $12.99 dinner. It's delicious and that stone bowl stay hot for long time. Their BBQ Bulgogi and tofu "spicy" soup combo is the bomb! $15.99 lunch and $18.99 dinner.
