First time here and loved! Here's what I ordered: Food: Salsa Verde Pork and Eggs- I cleaned my plate, no shame. The cilantro was super fresh, the pork was flavorful, and the potatoes tied it all together perfectly. Portion size was just right and the price felt fair for what you get. Coffee: Did the job, nothing fancy, but no complaints! Service: Fast and friendly, this place is cute and clean! I've eaten here twice since moving to the area. I enjoyed it both times. The espresso drinks are really good. I usually stick with mocha but get it half sweet. On this last visit I got the West Coast Omelet (bacon, onions, tomatoes, and cheese topped with a couple of avocado slices). It comes with a side of rosemary potatoes and an English muffin. I swapped the muffin for a biscuit. I had forgotten their biscuits are more similar to a cross between cornbread and cake. I'd prefer just a regular biscuit even though their style of biscuit is interesting. The omelet and biscuit was large. The rosemary potatoes are delicious and I'd have loved to have a bit more of them. I really enjoyed the omelet as well! I had to take about half of the omelet and biscuit to go. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because I think there dishes tend to be a bit more sweet and while I love sweet, if I'm eating savory, I'm picky about the sweetness. I think that is a personal preference and I'm sure some people love it. My server was Kat (Katerina) and she was great. Very patient and helpful. She happened to be my server both times I've been there! The restaurant is very clean with a comfortable, welcoming environment. It's always nice to see their messages of kindness. We stopped here after run club... The food was okay overall, & the service was also OK. We had a party of four, but were only given 2 cups of water. We had to ask for two more cups to be brought out because she just skipped ahead & was trying to take our food order instead. We also had a child with us and had to ask for a kids menu. Those are basic things I believe a server should know, especially after coming to the table two times to ask if we were ready. After we got our food, she probably came one more time and then we did not see her until the ticket. As far as the food, my Iron Man scramble was watery... And just OK. Took a vacation day and of course, did brunch at HomeGrown in Leawood. Opted for a couple of seasonal items like the Cranberry Mimosa which had a warm spice flavor and then the Meatloaf and Grits. The eggs were perfectly cooked for over medium, the grits were creamy and the meatloaf was a combo of sausage, bacon and beef. SO delicious! Then look at the short stack of classic pancakes we always get for the table and leftovers! They are the best pancakes around! Always amazing! Rating up front.....it's really good. The wife and I were both happy with it. It wasn't the best thing we have ever had but we were happy enough that we would return. We had the honey bee latte, both hot and cold and it was good. They were pretty sweet, but that's not a surprise. I had the verde pork with eggs on potatoes and the wife had the avocado toast. Both were really good, neither were fantastic. We arrived within 30 minutes of opening and had a 10 min wait to get seated because they were already full on a Sunday morning. Pork Verde with 2 eggs (your choice) includes a large portion of green chilies, Pika dg and more. Usually potatoes are on bottom of this skillet like dish, I opted for cheesy grits on the side. My husband and I decided to try out this location. We used the Yelp check-in app and we were very pleased with it. When we checked in, there were 14 ahead of us and by the time we got there, it said six. We waited maybe five minutes and got seated in a nice roomy booth. The host was OK, but all of the servers were very nice. Our server was friendly. My husband ordered his typical breakfast and it was good and I tried out there. Chicken avocado sandwich on gluten-free bread. This sandwich was generally good except that the bread was cut wrong and there were various small pieces underneath the sandwich?? Their kettle chips were good, especially while eating with a pickle. We would go back to this location if we're in that area. read more

Due to KC Restaurant week (and maybe the Facebook ad), the waitlist for Sunday brunch took around 2 hours. Our food came out quickly. Portions were sizeable, staff was friendly and quick to respond. The Benedict was good but lacked enough Hollandaise sauce and the potatoes were slightly underdone. A solid brunch place for sure. Even without the $20 KCRW deal (a drink, a coffee cake or pop'd heart, and any entree) HomeGrown has reasonable prices. I'd certainly recommend this brunch spot over others. read more

Our food was good. It was very busy/loud inside and we have a baby, so we asked to sit outside. All of the tables but one were open, but the hostess told us that we couldn't sit out there because the tables were reserved. When we left the patio was still empty. We came here for brunch and it was super busy. Recommend getting on the wait list before you get there. We started with mango mimosas. The drink was mostly mango concentrate with very little prosecco and hardly any chili lime salt. We got the veggie scramble and florentine benedict. The eggs on the benedict were over poached so it was a bit dry, and not much hollendaise on top. But the rosemary potatoes were really good and service was great. This is not the place to go if you're looking for a nice chill place for brunch. It's extremely loud and a bit chaotic. We hired homegrown for a catering order. The food was delicious. The person delivering our order was friendly. I can't wait to go to the actual location to try it. My only complain is the amount of food you get. Thank goodness we had 3 people not show up to our event otherwise we wouldn't have had enough. The biscuits they brought us were delicious! The Overland Park location is a bit small for as popular as this restaurant is but you can call ahead to get in the wait line, which helps. I've never in my life tasted a better chicken salad sandwich!! please keep it on the menu year round instead of a summer seasonal menu item! I'm going to be craving it now lol. And all of the breakfast items I've ordered have been deliFiona (the lemon loaf French toast was ahhhhmazing) but that is only available during summer (thru Oct 1 I believe). Second time I've been to this location, and it was pretty good! If I could knock off 1/2 a star I would have. The service was impeccable--Kat was awesome!! I ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict--the food was mostly stellar except if I had known the English muffin wasn't going to be as crunchy/toasted as I like, I would have asked Kat to make sure the kitchen toasted it extra. It wasn't bad, just too soft for my liking. Then I ordered the hot black tea. Yum! I wanted to dine outside, but as it was a lovely morning/day, tables were already filled. I am surprised I haven't reviewed this location before! Homegrown is a very nice breakfast location and serves amazing food and has amazing staff. The inside is lively and feels like a fresh start for the day. I order the BYOB and choose the scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, scavusso's bacon, and white toast. The eggs are scrambled great, the hashbrowns are tasty and delicious, and the bacon has a nice crunch with juicy flavors, and the toast complements the meal as the finisher of the meal. I highly recommend coming to this location to eat some great food. I will definitely be coming back to Homegrown! read more

Much like it's sister in Brookside, HomeGrown is a really nice addition to the brunch scene in Leawood. To it kind of is like a First Watch, but elevated. Think slightly better food, a little bit of a nicer vibe, but still a great place to bring the family for a meal. Each time I've gone I've gotten the carnitas and the reason being that it's really delicious. We came to this location in January on a day off with my husband, kiddo, and parents. It was a weekday that most folks had off and it was busy! Made me think that a Saturday or Sunday brunch might mean a bit of a wait. We were lucky and got seated quickly, though I did notice a wait forming as we ordered. I will say, everyone enjoyed their meal, even my daughter. Only tip would be to have cinnamon rolls on the menu for kiddos. I know kind of an off the wall request, but most places have them and my daughter was dismayed until we figured out we could essentially make her a breakfast sandwich out of an a la carte order of sausage and a biscuit. All in all though I'd happily return and am looking forward to the next time I find myself here. read more

Definitely use Yelps waitlist if you plan on going here for brunch during the weekend. We decided to try them for brunch recently with some family members and were able to get in without much of a wait after putting our names in ahead of time. I started with a Sunrise: Carrot, apple, pineapple, & fresh ginger. It was really good and tasted fresh. I'd definitely order it in the future. I ordered the traditional Benedict: Shoulder bacon, poached eggs, fresh hollandaise on a toasted English muffin. It was good. The eggs were perfectly poached. The hollandaise was rich and I could've used more. The shoulder bacon was a bit hard to cut. The butter knife does not suffice and you end up with chunks of meat. A better knife would drastically improve the experience. It came with roasted rosemary potatoes. The rosemary wasn't overpowering and the potatoes were nicely seasoned. The staff were friendly. The dining area was quite loud so they had some issues with hearing orders correctly but they promptly fixed any incorrect orders. I think the noise level is due to the small space and the fact that they get pretty busy. I would definitely return but the French toast looked amazing so I'd probably have to try that out! read more

Homegrown has been my favorite breakfast place hands down for a solid two years now, so when I found out they were opening a location in Leawood I was super excited to go try it out! The food is always delicious and I feel like they have a generously sized menu that is reasonably priced and good portion sizes! My go to's on the menu are between the avocado toast, BYOB (build your own breakfast), the Veggie Lover Omelette or the Ironman Omelette. These are always so good and a perfect way to start off the weekend. Every ingredient tastes fresh and healthy! It's always super busy, so highly recommended joining the waitlist here on Yelp at least an hour before heading that way if you're planning a weekend brunch between 10:30- 1pm. Homegrown prides itself of their customer service and kindness which I feel is hard to come by so this is one of the reasons I keep returning. However, at this location, I feel like the service has been take the order, bring the food, and bring the check. So I wish there would be a little more effort with checking on us after the food has been received. It was definitely overcooked and there's no way they could have placed this oatmeal in the container and not notice it was extremely hard. Very much enjoyed Homegrown! From the moment you walk in, you can tell it's a positive family friendly atmosphere that values kindness. As we waited to be seated, I looked over their stand of goods they sell. I included a photo but the children's books on kindness and gratitude were particularly charming. It was fairly busy but the wait wasn't long as their service seems good and it's not intimidatingly crowded. I started with a latte which was great. I followed it up with a Sunrise (juice) that was very refreshing as well. The menu is rather large which can be overwhelming but I can appreciate lots of good options. My breakfast buddy and I recently tried HomeGrown for the first time, and we were both SUPER impressed! We popped in on a random, early-holidays Friday morning around 7:45. We were promptly assisted and shown straight to a table! The menu has most of what you'd expect at a breakfast joint! Some of items have a little twist! For instance, I opted for the "Baked Oatmeal", which came out as an oatmeal cake, of sorts, with a small side of milk to pour over the dish, which had berries and nuts on top! It was DELICIOUS! My friend got B&G's, and I also had a side biscuit. The biscuits are NOT to be missed - I highly recommend you attach one to any meal you choose! My side biscuit came with very soft and salty butter, and also a serving of jam. I only used the butter, and devoured the biscuit by about the time it landed on the table! My friend's biscuits and gravy dish was fantastic as well (I know because I stole a bite!!)! Lastly, concerning the food and drink, the coffee here is among the absolute best, if not THE best, in all of KC's breakfast establishments! I've always found it curious when a breakfast joint has lackluster coffee; that is NOT the case here! I had....COPIOUS...amounts! Service was incredible, which is becoming more and more difficult to come by. Our waitress was attentive, very helpful, and frequently checked in. The dining room is cute, clean and modern!
