Miss Katie's has the classic look and taste of a 50s diner, no doubt about that! From the authentic period tables, colors, light greasy-diner smell and a jukebox, you really experience that charm. Miss Katie's has a surprising amount of tables, booths and a bar for a lot of seating. Very large menu with the breakfast-all-day bonus, plus they label what famous politicians have ordered (ex: Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama, Donald Trump) with the date they visited as a fun extra. Everyone at our table had burgers, apart from myself, who had breakfast and a 50s chocolate shake (I had to, I swear!). The breakfast wasnt particularly flavorful, but amazing and large shake! Everyone seemed to enjoy the burgers. Unfortunately there isn't a children's menu, which was a bummer. We brought our 2yo so we ended up getting her a $13 plate of chicken...wow, definitely 5× more than a toddler could eat but we took it home. No changing table in the restroom, kind of inconvenient. Miss Katie's definitely deserves an update. This place is consistent in that every meal I have ever had is exactly what is promised and is of high quality. I love the atmosphere here. Its got that old-school feel with both tables and naugahyde leather booths. Its also got a large bar area with a lot of seating. When the tables are busy during lunch, I'll sit at the bar and eat there. The food is what I would call "American Comfort." Dinner and lunch specials, typically, and also some of the things that their sister restaurant, Pitch's, serves including but not limited to their onion ring loaf, stuffed chicken breast, meatloaf, Sicilian filet, Pitch's ribs, etc. The servers here are extremely efficient and no-nonsense. Parking is a breeze with street parking always abundant. Great food at a fair price. What more could you ask for? read more

Miss Katie's Diner is a Milwaukee institution and shares ownership with another Milwaukee institution, Pitch's. In fact, Mr. "Pitch" (it's actually short for a longer, Italian name that escapes me). I haven't dined here in many years, but I had plans to go to the public museum and wanted to get breakfast first, so I picked Miss Katie's. I walked in and noticed a fairly busy dining room, so I went to the dining counter, which was pretty much empty, aside from four other customers. I was given a glass of water and a menu right away and asked if I wanted to drink anything else besides water. I placed my order and quickly received a cup of fresh fruit with bite-sized pieces of fresh bakery, which is also made in-house. I ordered the housemade corned beef hash with eggs over easy and white toast. My eggs were over-done by a lot, but there was still a little yolk in them for me to dip my toast in, so I stuck with them. The corned beef was tender and had nice flavor, and the hashbrowns were also tasty. I didn't have to add salt or pepper to my dish, so that is a big plus. Richard, the man behind the counter, checked on me and when he was caught up and a few customers left, he engaged in light and friendly conversation with me. I had a nice experience, overall. Have I had better meals in town? Sure, but supporting places like this makes me happy, and my food tasted good, despite the eggs being overcooked. Will I drive a million miles out of my way for an Oostburger? Yes! It's just so perfect. A split and deliciously fried brat on a burger, add American cheese and a homemade bun and you have heaven. I love the cozy friendly atmosphere of this place. So many cute Dutch items like Delft and wooden shoes decorate this cozy little cafe. Consistently good food, service and atmosphere. I stopped for lunch at 11:40 am on a Monday and I would say there were about 15 people in the restaurant. This is a large place, and the wait staff was right on top of it. No waiting around here. I ordered an open-faced hot turkey sandwich, and it was served on toasted Italian bread. It was also served with a small cup of cranberries. You could tell this was all homemade. The turkey was moist and meaty, the mashed potatoes were very good, they had a few lumps in it, but they were creamy and very buttery. Overall, this was a fantastic meal. Really up there as far as quality and taste. I will definitely be back; this was worth every penny. read more

This place is hellla cute, retro, old, historic it's giving Hilary duff Cinderella story diner and I am here for the aesthetics. This diner really takes you back in time and gives such warm and cozy energy. The food options are amazing. My friends ordered a sundae and they were sizable and looked and tasted amazing. There are some specials and is very diner food options with thrown in a meatloaf or Skellet that's good. My friend loved the meatloaf and I loved the skellet. This place is bustling when I was there so make sure to arrive early. There was a large party of 15 ppl here so they def look like they can accommodate large groups. The staff here are amazing, they make sure everyone is taken care of and make sure you're aware that they will take care of you. I've known of Miss Katie's Diner for a bit and glad to finally have tried it out! The menu is totally classic diner through and through for breakfast. Was pleasantly surprised that they brought out a small bowl of fruits with two pieces of soft coffee cake - seemed like a standard item they brought out to all tables (at least that morning). The decor has 1950's diner vibes. Luckily, I walked in and there was an open table available, the people after me were given a 20 minutes wait (not bad - but they were definitely busy on a Sunday). For those waiting, there is an adjoined bar. In the moment of browsing their breakfast menu - I forgot all about their milkshakes that they're supposed to be known for as well - unsure if they are available in the morning (perhaps that's why I didn't see them on the menu or if I could have asked). Located on the edge of the Marquette University campus, Miss Katie's has become a must first stop for Democrat Presidential candidates campaigning in Wisconsin. After one visit, I can see why. In my many, many decades on this planet, and having eaten in over 60 countries, I don't think I've had a more pleasant server than Denise (?). Hopefully I remembered her name correctly. In a terrific mood, helpful with the menu, quick with drink refills and with no shortage of wisecracks on demand, it was a pleasure to be served by her. I went for the cheeseburger, the same one Michelle Obama ordered, and fresh cut fries. The bun was a superb substantial roll from one of the local Italian bakeries, and the oversized meat patty had great flavor, all beef, nothing else. Condiments were of your choice, and my basket came with tomato, lettuce and ample raw onion. Fresh cut fries were hot and crispy with a light dusting of some variety of seasoned salt. About 1/3 of the building is a dining room and the rest a bar with stools to belly up to. I loved this entire experience. I hope I get back. And I never, ever give five stars! First off as we entered we were seated and the young waitress came over with attitude asked if we want coffee.. then the 2nd waitress came and took our order. I ordered the mushroom swiss spinach omelette with toast and hash. My bf ordered the skillet with sunny side up eggs. Let me say how disgusted we were. Eggs were RAW. My entire omelette literally sopping of raw eggs like how ridiculous is that! My bf eggs were raw as well. Both waitresses came by several times we never got a refill on coffee either. We went approximately 30 minutes before they closed and got seated, served and finished eating before they closed! The food was amazing and I love the retro vibe of the diner. I have been there twice: once for breakfast (sausage omelette) and for dinner (ordered the cheeseburger and shake). The price was very reasonable for how big our portions were. Our waitresses that we had were all very attentive and I never ran out of water, they were constantly filling it up. Would recommend to everybody who comes to Milwaukee. Solid diner stop. Miss Katie's is one of those places that's been around a long time and people either love it or they don't. Kind of like Conejitos or Real Chili. I hadn't been in since my MU days so you know it's been a long time! Things weren't super busy on our Sunday AM visit but students weren't back from break yet. The interior is definitely classic - many tables have plaques telling you what famous people are there. Mostly politicians - for whatever reason, it's a popular stop on the campaign trail. Anyway, they start you with a small dish of fruit and some coffee cake - nice touch! The Mister had one of the scrambles and I had an omelette. Both were served with nice hash browns. All around solid diner breakfast fare. Here's where Miss Katie's shines - little Italian details. My toast was Italian bread and it was unexpectedly (to me at least) delicious. The misters sausage was Italian links - again, unexpected but great. No service issues at all during our visit. Big, big plates and pretty reasonable prices too. read more

A cute, old fashioned diner right on Marquette's campus. Came here with a big group of students and they accommodated our party size right away. They even gave us fruit bowls for the table which was so thoughtful! I love the history all around the diner and the fun facts on the menus about different presidents dining here. The food is basic but still delicious and hits the spot like typical diner food does. And not overpriced like other breakfast spots. Would recommend if you're in the area! read more

I am embarrassed that as a long time Milwaukee resident I have NEVER been to this iconic place. A few famous celebs and politicians have graced their booths so you know they have great taste. It is a classic looking 50's diner with a similar menu. They serve breakfast all day which is a huge plus. I had the cajun chicken salad and I swear I got half a chicken on the salad. I like that they put all of the toppings separate so you can portion out what you like. They make almost all of their salad dressings (only two they don't make) from scratch so YES I can have the ranch dressing! Our server was definitely tenured and reminded me of a nicer Flo from Al's Diner. She noticed the bountiful salad and quickly gave me a side plate for the overflowing deliciousness. Beverages were refilled quick so all was a great service experience. I won't wait decades to visit here again and will definitely try the breakfast menu next time. I ordered the hash skillet and it was a straight forward no fuss menu which I appreciate from old diners. My booth seat I could feel the spring was broken but honestly didn't mind because that's the vibe. Super cool to see the pictures on the wall and see Michelle Obama ate here! I must have been living under a rock because I cant believe I haven't heard of this place before. The atmosphere was amazing, I felt like I was in Pleasentville. I don't give out 4 and 5's easily. Here's the caveat, this is a diner and they excel at diner food. Today I had a meatloaf dinner and the entire time I kept thinking how honey and comforting the meal was. Delicious too! It reminded me of a meal that my mom or my auntie would make. And then they'd send you home with leftovers for another meal tomorrow in plastic containers that originally held butter and sour cream. The food was good hunty! Good. I ordered my meal today via a meal delivery service. My only compliant was that pie or cake slices weren't available to order for delivery. Prices and portions here are very fair. The ambiance of the diner itself is pretty cool. A lot of presidents have come here to dine, Oprah too, I think. She's like an honorary president essentially, right? Probably. The diner feels very unchanged over time, very metallic and shiny. Some seats are marked where famous people sat so you too can sit in the same squeaky chair. This is the well renowned Diner that celebrities and politicians alike visit anytime they come to Milwaukee. I just hope they bring their own meal. Let me preface by saying I have not given any place I have ate at less than 3 stars. It goes without saying I'm not that picky. However, Miss Katie's Diner may be among the worst places I have ever dined in. I have eaten in many places in Milwaukee over the last four years, but Miss Katie's is the only spot that has to display a Health Department Grade of B. You'll see why. Upon arrival we were seated in a booth. As we were being seated we noticed a large spider crawling on the table, inching towards food debris leftover from the last patrons. Already this set off a red flag. Once we were seated in the our cramped booth we were rushed to order by a not so friendly waitress who you will get to know. One person from my party ordered a Sicilian Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries and bread. Our waitress quickly remarked that the bread was unnecessary and assumed we had never had a Sicilian chicken sandwich. After explaining why he wanted the bread on the side she begrudgingly agreed and rudely dismissed his explanation. That spider from earlier returns to the scene with company. Now we have two spiders leering our food. We quickly ate and wanted to leave as we also had an unpleasant smell of ammonia and cheap cleaner coming for the table, likely from a haphazard wipe of the table prior to being seated. Upon the first few bites, another member in my party noticed that he had an odd taste in his food. He discovered that the cooks had cooked the plastic from the cheese wrapper onto his burger! Unbelievable. My burger was well done--yum. Meanwhile my friend earring plastic wrap had a burger as rare as a redneck with all his teeth. If I were you visiting Milwaukee and this is a place you have to stop at, take photos from the outside and go eat anywhere else. Let this relic go, management has only let it wither while customary visits keep it on life support. read more

We stayed because we'd been walking and just wanted to eat. The staff was friendly enough. I ordered a steak sandwich medium rare and it was brown all the way through.
