Greeted and seated immediately. Loved the looks of the place, made me think of being back in Greece. Bakery display case looked amazing. I had the BLT which came with soup, slaw and fries for only $10!! The homemade chicken noodle soup was fantastic! The BLT had a healthy portion of bacon and the fries were crispy and seasoned nicely. Our waitress, Tammy, was a pure delight. Came around often enough to keep our waters filled and anticipated our needs nicely. As the names imply, this is a Greek Family Restaurant. So if you've been to one of the many other Greek Family Restaurant in the Milwaukee area, you would get the sense of what they serve here. Foods ranging from your standard American and Greek Fare, to Italian, Mexican, and a few Chinese dishes. Went in around 6-7ish and the hostess greeted us right away and we were seating right away as well. We sat at the booth and one of the things i will say is that El Greco could probably use a booth update. While still quite comfy, certain parts of the booth, one could tell its had a long life, so i ended up sinking on one end, while my friend was fine on the other end. Food here is quite alright, nothing to write home about and nothing to complain about. They did their job and they did their job right, delivered a decent filling meal. I got the t-bone steak, my friend order the steak and shrimp combo, and my other friend just ordered the NY Strip Steak. Me and my friend who ordered the combo, both our steak came out at the temp we ordered at, my other friend who ordered it well done, got it medium. I know what you're gonna say about well-done steaks, but my friend likes it that way. He didn't wanna cause a fuss so he kept it as is. I wish there was a negative option for providing stars. I've never been to an establishment where the staff is so rude and disrespectful. I had a discrepancy with my order, the waitress was kind enough to explain everything and I was satisfied. HOWEVER, the manager/owner lady intervenes and the entire situation went left. This woman begins to raise her voice and tell me it's my fault and she doesn't know I expect. I tried to tell her the situation was resolved but she continued, that's when I lost my cool. I frequent this business a lot mainly in the evening . My last two visits were in the morning. Each time I encountered the same waitress (Tracy). Her language was foul and her breath and body had an ordor on my last visit. I could not eat my food. I spoke directly to the owner about her language and he basically spoke as if he was familar with her behavior. Food is good not great...service in the morning for me has been horrific. Whenever my father comes up from Racine and helps me out with maintenance on my house he always loves to go here and grab late lunch early dinner after we're done. We both really enjoy this place, they have a lot of options to choose from. They always have amazing homemade soups and great lunch and dinner specials. It's a very large restaurant with lots of seating. The restaurant is always very clean and has a lot of awesome light fixtures that I love. It's kind of everything you would expect when going into a Greek restaurant. We had a really great server named Juan Pablo! He was really great highly recommend asking for him! My father decided to order the leg of lamb dinner special and I decided to get the Cajun catfish pasta dinner special. My father really enjoyed the Leg of lamb although it did not come on the leg the meet was tender and delicious and he really enjoyed it. I loved my Cajun catfish pasta, the flavor was absolutely fantastic and there was so much of it I could barely eat half of it. The dinners come with soup or salad and a dessert option. My father got the side salad with blue cheese dressing and I decided to get the baked French onion soup. Absolutely loved the soup it was amazing and my dad said the blue cheese dressing was excellent. For dessert we both opted for the puddings, I decided to try the rice putting and my father got the tapioca. Overall we were thrilled with our meals and the service was fantastic. As a late night go-to spot after the club, this place gets the job done. There was nothing spectacular about the food and it kind of reminded me of Denny's. There was only a few tables full of people the night I was there. Still, service was extremely slow. We had to call the waitress over several times before we got all the condiments, drinks, and napkins needed. Let me start off by saying the waitress was amazing. I can't remember her name but she was an older caucasian lady with a pleasant demeanor & fantastic work ethic. She ran her tail off the entire time. I got the fajitas, flavor was , fresh crisp peppers and onions with good quality chicken came out sizzling & plenty of it. My only complaint was the tiny plastic cup of half filled sour cream & salsa sent out. It was gone on the first fajita and of course they charge for extra. My fiancé got breakfast. He enjoyed the sausage links & forcefed me the french toast noting it was light & delicious. We were stuffed but the dessert case looked bomb so he got oreo cake to take home and I got the fresh strawberry topped cheesecake. The cheesecake is what I like to call "worth being fat for". Literally, SO good. If nothing else, give them a try just for it. We enjoyed our visit. I will note that the area didn't seem to be the greatest & a few of the patrons had bad attitudes & attempted to make a scene about their food and/or takeout order not being up to par. I find this to be a person problem more than a restaurant problem. Who would walk up in a restaurant yelling at staff & demand to see a manager over lack of plastic silverware & stale bread? Like I love Ma Fischer's, but I order strictly breakfast there, their dinners can have some duds, their breakfasts are fantastic. This place has for one thing a massive menu, you need a high school study hall to read it. Their breakfast and lunch/dinners are on point. My wife being the more adventurous patron loves ordering different items on a menu. I don't, I should, but I'm too afraid I'll get a dud. I tend to settle on a good meal and I don't sway away. Anyway, my wife likes the salmon salad at El Greco's, she said it's pretty good. She also likes the whole Catfish, for some reason Ma Fischer's does have Catfish, so we come here if she wants that meal. I love 2 menu items here, the Farmer's Breakfast, which is a great deal and it's delicious. You get 3 eggs, 2 meats,hash browns and pancakes or French toast, for roughly $14 bucks, waffles for some reason is 2 dollars extra. I also love the gyro with extra onions, look never, and do mean never ask for extra onions on a gyro here or any Greek restaurant not unless you truly like onions, they will swamp you with so many onions that I almost regretted asking for extra onions, Sheesh, you have been warned! Love this place, it's a bit far from our house, but it's worth the trip. Go during the weekday, it's less crowded. read more

Just about everywhere you go in the United States you can find restaurants run by Greek families that offer every breakfast dish that one can possibly imagine. El Greco is one such place. Eating breakfast at a place like El Greco is purely utilitarian. It's all about a pile of food at a decent price and keeping your coffee cup full. If they don't screw up your order or serve rotten food, if the service is is fast and efficient, and if they do in fact keep your coffee cup full while you wrap up your conversation or business, you have received exactly what is expected. I started a new job in Milwaukee, and I'm trying to learn more local places to eat. One of my coworkers LOVES this place, and another one hates it. The one that loves it took me here. It's huge, and it looks like a family restaurant from the 80s. I appreciate that, nostalgia is big for me, and while it might be dated, it's clean and well maintained. I had absolutely no idea what to try. People recommended the gyros, the Alfredo, the lasagna, the fried chicken, the fajitas, etc etc. Multiple people suggested the lasagna so eventually I settled on that, with a Greek salad (so I could try something Greek). First of all, the bread they bring to the table before you eat is dry and unimpressive, and the coffee was a tad burnt. The Greek salad was good and all fresh ingredients. Huge chunks of feta cheese and olives. Not unlike the Parkway restaurant that I reviewed recently, the lasagna was good, huge, and tasted homemade. Not authentic, but like something your non-Italian mother or grandmother would have made. For dessert we got cheesecake, which was kind of fluffy (I'm used to cheesecake being heavy) and light on the cheese flavor, but not bad. Prices were very reasonable, service was friendly and attentive. I wouldnt specifically go back for the food, but might go back for the overall experience. read more

Never again will I eat here and spend a penny in this place after my bitchy service today. As usual I walk in and get a table but today no server for 15 minuets while the woman at the register looked at me the whole time. This same woman had the nerve to ask me how everything was when I paid my bill and I said no server or getting acknowledged for 15 minuets, her response was did you wait to be seated and I say that there is no sign as you walk in stating that, she points to the sign a good 6 feet into the restaurant against the wall on the left which you would never see as you walk in, basically telling me why my service sucked because I didn't wait to be seated seriously who does that. I called her back and told her your bitchy service games cost my server her tip so how did that work out for you and she hung up on me. This was the second time I have not tipped well, it's 7 am and the place is empty and they want to play games seriously, enjoy the lousy tip and thanks for nothing. They take a lot of crap from angry and demanding customers (let's be honest, my aunt can be this way), yet the wait staff remains very patient and takes care of you all the same. The Hawaiian omelette is a good option if you enjoy pineapple in pizza or other random dishes. Huge portions and tasty ($7.95). Coffee is always so-so but I'm used to more high end coffee anyway. However after the Rude and unprofessional treatment received from management, I will never go back there again. Waited over 40 minutes for my food which never came out. While Greek restaurants may be easily found in Milwaukee, none do it better than El Greco in terms of combining fast service, excellent prices, and a large selection of items to choose from. Breakfast is solid and has something for everyone; dinner is not as good, but the pumpkin challa bread is outstanding. Whenever my mother-in-law comes to town, I already know that I have to carve out a stop at Greco! My only complaint is that the service can be spotty, not in terms of responsiveness, but in care and concern. The waitress' opening line should never be, "Do ya know what you want?" Pretend to care and say "Good morning," or "How are you?" You'll see that reflected in your tip! read more

Can't cook a steak to save their life. Asked for med rare and 3times came well done 4th time came rare. I said just box it I'll finish it at home. 2nd visit came with 3 adults & 7 hungry children. Only to be told our party was too big Not for lack of room but they did not have enough servers to accommodate us. As we were turned away I seen a party of 6 adult men walking out I think I'm done with El Greco. Not upset that they were understaffed however this is something they should put on their website that large parties cannot be accommodated then we will not make the trip there. As Joe G. mentioned earlier, Greek family restaurants are plentiful in Milwaukee. You are guaranteed a large variety of food in generous amounts, served round-the-clock on a consistent basis from year to year; from the first time visiting, to the last time there, with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. My friend and I split the beer battered mushrooms as an appetizer and we each had the cheeseburger and fries. The burger was big enough to bring half of it home and came with lettuce, tomato, a dill pickle spear, coleslaw, mayo on the side, and with sliced raw red onions on request. You can add a bowl of hot french fries for only a dollar. My only complaint was that the beer battered mushroom appetizer was kinda skimpy for the cost which consisted of 8 mushrooms for around $4.99. It came with Ranch dressing and Marinara sauce on the side, but as my friend mentioned, "Well hey, it comes on a bed of lettuce!" Aside from the mushrooms, I'm very sure I'll be back because you know it's a, "no lose situation" if you ever take a chance on any of the Greek family restaurants. Next time... While Greek family restaurants are plentiful in Milwaukee, I feel this one has the biggest and best menu, and somehow the majority of the food still tastes fantastic. They have great soups, great bakery, great specials. And on top of all that, it's also one of the few quality restaurants that's open 24 hours. For breakfast, they have awesome omelettes and huge waffles. For lunch and dinner, they have some good burgers, gyros, and great lamb chops. You really can't go wrong with this place.
