I went to LuLu Cafe with my mom and our waiter, Joel, was outstanding! He was very friendly, accommodating, and provided exceptional customer service. For lunch we shared the homemade chips with blue cheese dip (our favorite!) and we split the Roasted Vegetable Salad with chicken. We love coming to Lulu Cafe and we've been coming here for years. The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable. They also have a nice bar and a large dining space. We enjoy sitting at a table by the outside window, when it's available.

Never a bad meal here! I usually get one of the pita sandwiches but I tried something different and had the Moroccan Chicken sandwich. It was grilled and so flavorful! The Asian slaw is the best side!

It's hard to believe I've lived here my whole life and somehow managed to not eat at Lulu's once during my many ventures to Bay View they opened in 2001. I was pretty excited to finally check out what I've heard so many talk about. Ample outdoor seating is available during the summer months but we opted for a window seat for two to watch everything go by outside and take in the cool decor & painting inside. We were seated right away and promptly greeted by our friendly waitress. The menu had so many great options it was hard to choose but I opted for the chipotle chicken pita. Food arrived pretty quickly and looked good. The Asian salad was delicious! I'm not usually a fan of peanuts in any salad but everything worked together & I loved every bite of that salad. The chips looked so delicious but weren't seasoned at all. A sprinkling of salt and possibly pepper would've made those chips perfect. The chipotle chicken pita was okay. I didn't pick up much chipotle, although I appreciate spicier foods. The chicken tasted more blackened, which I also like, but was just expecting more chipotle than grill. Overall, I'm happy I finally made it to Lulus. I'll be back to try something else on the menu!

Looking for a convenient place to eat before heading to Summerfest, we decided to return to Lulu Cafe after many years away. As always, the atmosphere was on point. Starting with the mid century mod logo, walking in you feel the eclectic vibe that's been a mainstay of this restaurant for years. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the food came out in a reasonable time. The food is where I was left wanting more. The Smokehouse Chicken was bland. It needed some type of additional sauce or aioli to elevate the sandwich. The chips, while homemade were under seasoned. They do offer blue cheese dip with the chips but I didn't get that. I feel the chips should be able to stand on their own. The asian slaw, maybe the most flavorful thing on the plate, was so wet that the bun of the sandwich soaked up all the juices, making it taste like the asian slaw. I'll go back but probably stick to one of the numerous salads next time.

We greatly enjoyed our time at Lulu Cafe for dinner! The server was kind, attentive, and we had good service. We decided to check this place out for MKE Vegan week since I'm vegetarian, the Big Dipper was good but nothing special. My bf mentioned his sandwich was solid but also wasn't wow'd. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a Bayview Lunch Spot that's chill with great service!

Lulu Cafe is overhyped. I'd been recommended this place by quite a few people and I couldn't hep but feel a bit disappointed by it all. For starters, it is really dim in the restaurant. After about 10 minutes, they dropped the lighting even further, which made it difficult to see. A small votive at each table would really help the situation. Secondly, my chair's armrest was broken and on one side was no longer attached to the chair itself. Someone with the party behind us came and swapped out his chair for one at the empty table next to us, remarking there was a loose spring that was poking him. As for the food, everything was pretty bland. I went with the K.K. Philly, which was tough, dry, and under seasoned. It wasn't inedible, in fact, I ate most of it. But it wasn't good. My dining companion went with the Chipotle Chicken Pita, which he said was just okay and suffered from the same issues as the K.K. Philly. For sides, we went with a little bit of Asian slaw and a little bit of chips. It's great that they've got that option for people who like to try some of everything, which I do. However, the chips (which I've heard plenty of people rave about) were in desperate need of a healthy dose of salt. The size and crunch were fantastic, but it tasted like cardboard without seasoning the heck out of it yourself. The Asian slaw was the best thing I tasted during our trip to Lulu Cafe, but even that was only pretty good. Service wasn't exceptional, either. Our server was pleasant enough, albeit a little quiet. But it took an absurdly long amount of time for us to pay the bill. They process credit cards with a small handheld device and a tablet, but our server said there's only one of them for the whole restaurant. So it took roughly 20 minutes for it to come around to us. Our server was nice about it though, and he took off the credit card processing fee since it took so long. I don't plan on visiting Cafe Lulu again. The poor lighting, uncomfortable seating, bland food, and inefficient payment system is enough for me to forgo another visit. There are a dozen other Bay View area restaurants I'd recommend before I'd get to this place.

Great food! Server was very nice and informative about the menu and their options. We got a seat right by the front window, server said it was the "favorite" seat in the restaurant. Got a blueberry tea that was amazing as well. Highly recommend.

Came in for lunch on Friday. They have a great selection of sandwiches - I settled on the special, a seared tuna advertised as marinated in dill & Dijon. I opted to sub pita because their pitas looked amazing. Went for the 50/50 slaw and chips - totally the way to go. Highlight was the sides for sure. Tuna was cooked perfectly but any flavor of dill, Dijon, seasoning in general was totally lacking. My husband said is faux bahn mi was also a bit sad. Service was fab and the dining room was spacious and bright. I'd come back for drinks and perhaps to try another pita. Solid lunch option for sure.

What's not to love about Lulu Cafe (Cafe Lulu)? Funky fresh vibe, art on the walls, good service and something on the menu for everyone. I don't come here often enough. Had a great salmon salad on special, recently. the Waldorf Salad is a perennial favorite, as is a flatbread, the Faux Banh Mi. The craft beer menu is great, featuring the best of the craft Midwest! This place is good for a friend meetup because volume levels are okay for a conversation.

Lulu Cafe and Bar is a fantastic spot that I'd gladly visit again. I had the Mexi-Cali Burger with a side of chicken and vegetable soup. The burger was delicious--juicy and flavorful--but could use a bit more toppings to really elevate it. The soup was excellent, hearty, and comforting. Their drink selection is impressive; I tried the Blooming Butterfly, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful--I'd happily have it again and again! Overall, great food, drinks, and atmosphere.

I was in need of something small to sustain me briefly, so I ordered a London Fog and the special scone (rhymes with "gone"), that day a delectable-looking chocolate chip with chocolate drizzle. The Fog was most interesting in that it was topped with nutmeg, which I adore. To be honest, for some reason the combination of the regular London fog and nutmeg reminded me of some medicine or unloved candy from my childhood, but it wasn't so offputting that I didn't finish every last drop. The scone was hands-down the best I've had outside of Scotland. That sounds like hyperbole, but it's not; it's honest. The texture was impeccable for my personal taste as I prefer a moister, cakier scone. This one was that, a perfect scone with a perfect number of chocolate chips and a perfect chocolate drizzle. This pastry alone (and whatever other flavors the bakers produce) will get me going back again and again. The establishment was very clean, I found some of the chairs to be uncomfortable, I thought the mix of lighting fixtures was interesting, and I enjoyed the sunshine pouring in through the garage doors. It was surprisingly quiet because everyone there was on a laptop. It does make me worry a bit about coming in with children or with a friend to have conversation, but we can all get along. :)

We just wanted a drink and a quick bite to eat and being during a baseball game, lots of places in the area were busy. There was a good crowd there watching the game as well. It's an interesting setup, reminds me almost of a living room (with dining tables) and then the small bar area is to the side. To order food, you do it through two wall kiosks which I like because you can look at options and not feel rushed unless there's a line. Outside they have tables and a tv as well. I choose a veggie sandwich which had a good kick to it! The smaller size was good enough for me. It was a bit confusing how to get your food, from what we understood, you have to go through a door to get to the kitchen window (bathrooms are that way too) but no one calls your order number or anything. I'd suggest an improvement on that way you know your food is ready or maybe we missed something. Overall, I would return and would like to try other items on the menu!

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.
