This place was pretty crowded on a Sunday night. It looked cozy so we thought we'd give it a shot. It took a few minutes to be seated since they were hosting a large party. The lady who sat us seemed really sweet, I think she was one of the owners. I had an order of fried springs rolls and tom yum soup. My spring rolls were greasy and mostly tasteless, lacking spices and salt that I long for in my favorites Asian appetizer. Also, they werden't served with lettuce, or cilantro or even fish sauce. Not sure if they forgot or that's just how it is at Miss Saigon. The tom yum soup okay. The broth was more tart than I liked so I asked for some coconut milk to be added and that was a few dollars extra. My waitress was pretty cold the whole time, at one point she rudely asked me to speak up when she couldn't hear me. But she kept our water glasses filled so that's a plus, I guess. read more

My experience in Miss Saigon was great, and I would definitely recommend to my friends. I ordered pho with rare beef and meat balls, beef is ok, but the meat balls are delicious! My friends and I also tried some appetizers, vegetable spring roll, chicken spring rolls, and steamed shrimp dumpling. Won't recommend the shrimp dumplings. Overall, The food is good, their pho tastes like what I've tried in Vietnam. Furthermore, the price is great. The service is quick, our server was attentive. She kept checking on our table and refilled water many times. She also brought out all our the food correctly and really fast. However, it takes longer than I expected for our checks. Environment in Miss Saigon is the reason I gave four stars. The restaurant is really small and crowded. The front door is extreme heavy, which is very inconvenient for petite people. We have been here many times and will keep coming back! The service is amazing - fast, polite, attentive. And I don't think I have had a bad meal here. My favorite is the Miss Saigon Special, a seafood/rice dish with a light, delicious flavor. I also really like their appetizers that I've tried. All the dishes are well presented. Depending on what you order is how you will walk away. I have had better vermicelli dishes but the hot and sour soup along with one of their sandwiches is a hit out of the ball park on any given day. I don't know what happened to this place...it used to be so good. First off, there was no warning that there were no bean sprouts (which is a staple to Pho all over!) There was no active replacement or suggestions. We ordered our soups, received them with just a little bit a basil and jalapenos on the side. Where's the bean sprouts? "We don't have any" - now you tell us? Then, there was actual weird things in the chicken broth which they identified as Tripe. Tripe in the chicken soup? Not to mention a couple months ago we found PLASTIC in our soup! This does not bode well with our confidence in Miss Saigon. In fact there are recipes online that can help you guarantee you have your Pho the way you like it. So, nothing was offered for our issues. My experience in Miss Saigon was good! I tried some appetizers like the vegetable eggrolls, chicken springrolls and the steamed shrimp dumplings. Overall, they were good but the steamed shrimp dumplings were more sticky than normal. As my entree, I ordered the chicken fried rice and I thought that it was great! I believe that this restaurant is a great option if you want to grab some vietnamese food. Honestly, the servicescape of the restaurant is not that pretty and does not really makes you feel that yoy are in a vietnamese restaurant. Since the portions are big, I believe that the price that you pay for them is perfect. The service was not very good, it was very slow and they took too long to bring the check to the table. I don't visit Miss Saigon on a daily basis but I have been there with friends for a fair amount of times (a few times per month at least). The food there is GREAT! My friend always orders #37 pho, and #38/#33(this is vegetarian) or the fried rice for me usually. But we have also tried many other items like the fried wanton, beef stick, durian sweet rice (must try if you like durian), and most of the dessert. FOOD: Food is great! Recommendation: Miss Saigon pho #33 vegetarian pho; #37 & 38 beef pho; Fried Rice Smoothies and ALL Dessert (some consist of peanuts) Fried wanton, rice roll, beef stick for appetiser ;) SERVICES: Service is awesome! But be advised to expect longer waits during peak hours. When they get busy, you will tell. But as far as I know, they are also trying to hire more waiters/waitresses. First time here. Very fast service. Clean and nicely furnished. And friendly. But I believe they got my Pho order wrong. I ordered Beef (peanut) Satay and got rare beef Pho. I only know this because my friend got the Satay Chicken Pho and it had a peanutty and thicker broth to it than mine with it's transparent broth. It was still good anyway, but still . . . I have been Miss Saigon several times, because of the location. My favorite dishes are Miss Saigon pho and chicken wings, and favorite beverage is avocado smoothie (a-must-try!!). This time I went with my classmates and Professor. We ordered steamed shrimp dumplings, veg egg roll, chicken spring roll for appetizer. The shrimp dumplings seems like over-steamed and it is very soft and sticky. I would much prefer a chewy texture. For entree, I ordered miss Saigon pho as usual. It is really good and don't forget to ask for extra lime and chili oil, you will back to thank me for this. As for service part, the waiter is so confident that thought she can remember all we requested instead of writing it down. I was not that hungry at that day and asked for less noodles. If i could give this place zero stars I would. Slowest service ever, there is no reason pho should take that long to make. There service was horrible and so slow. We got there and had a 5 minute wait to get seated. We were left sitting there for a while before the waitress came for drinks. At that point, we were ready to order, and the waitress didn't even ask if we were ready. She then came back 30 minutes later to give us water and said "the food will be out in just a minute, we have a lot of takeout orders." We were fine waiting. But then it was like 20 minutes before I asked the hostess what was going on. The waitress came back and was like "I already told you we are doing take out orders and we only have one person on the stir fry." Her attitude was abysmal. This restaurant is so delicious. It's one of the common places I go for food in Amherst. The staff is very knowledgable and kind. I have tried their vegetarian pho and it was very filling and yummy. I am especially fond of their vegetables with brown sauce and tofu. I know that their meat options are very good too because I have heard my friends and family being impressed. Had really terrible service during prime dinner hour (6:30pm) on a Friday night. We decided to stop for food on a short trip past Amherst and were seated surprisingly fast for how busy it was (only 10 min wait for party of 4). It took 10 minutes to put our order in and after 20 minutes, the waitress apologized for the wait (said the take out orders were crazy and they were swamped) and said our food would be out shortly. Meanwhile, the table of 2 next to us was seated and had food come out in the time we had been there. 20 minutes later, we were pretty unhappy but 2 of the orders came out (2 bowls of pho). It took another 5 minutes to get the 3rd order (chow fun) and another 5 to get the last order (pad thai). We expressed our dissatisfaction with the waitress and she replied bluntly that we were previously told that the take out orders were backed up and there was only one stirfry cook. Needless to say, we were pretty taken aback and tried talking to another staff member but we were told the manager was busy in the back cooking. Our waitress entered the conversation seeing what the issue was and I reiterated that we weren't happy with how long it took to get the food out and that there wasn't any sort of service in between or communication about the situation. We were seated customers but it seemed like we were taking a back seat to the take out customers. Our waitress apologized but was pretty blunt again about the situation. We started eating and the food was good, but not enough to remedy the poor service. The waitress came by to offer free soda or thai tea during the meal but it was too little too late and we declined. We were even waiting at the counter to pay while the waitresses juggled take out orders. I feel bad that they had to be the messengers for a disorganized kitchen, but there should have been better service- a free appetizer and some more empathetic apologies while we waited would have made all the difference. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with bbq pork and prawns and egg roll which was delicious and a good portion, but the noodles were cold! disappointing. Also the prices are high for pho, but I guess this is one of the few Vietnamese (if not the only one that serves pho in the Amherst area) so they can get away with the prices.... I grew up in the the heart of the bay area in California, where you find pho places EVERYWHERE, which are all delicious!.... And I gotta say $8.75 for a bowl of pho is a rip-off. I'm going to base this review on my two experiences there. The first time we went to Miss Saigon, the wait staff was so friendly, the food was so good, and the overall time was just a treat. Based on that experience alone, I would have given Miss Saigon a solid four stars. Unfortunately, the second time around was so unpleasant, and so so much worse, that Miss Saigon merits one star in my eyes. I almost wish we hadn't gone back, and had just left Miss Saigon a pleasant memory. Much like Jack on LOST, though, we had to go back. The second time, things were much, much worse. Our new waiter, super-flighty, acted extremely exhausted with us when we didn't know what we wanted to drink within two minutes of being seated. This wasn't the end of the world, though. My girlfriend and I have both worked as wait staff in the past, and try to bend over backwards to give our servers the benefit of the doubt. So this was a little frustrating, but wouldn't have affected the score. Then, the waiter brought our drinks past us, to the front of the restaurant, and then back to the server stand. Bizarre. A moment later he brought them to us, no mention of the weirdness. Okay, a little weird--but not the end of the world, either. The crucial point came in the evening when we received our entrees, and my Pho was lacking the rare beef it came with. I mentioned this to the server, and he was curt and wasn't even a little apologetic. Okay, different strokes on what the waiter-customer dynamic should be. A little unpleasant, but still not terrible, I guess. Anyway--he said he'd ask the kitchen. What proceeded was bizarre and deeply unpleasant. Our booth was the last one back before the kitchen, but the kitchen entrance was still a solid few yards away. Nevertheless, we heard our server make his request for the missing food, and the chef started yelling at him in response, and then we heard a few solid minutes of yelling back and forth. Eventually the beef came out, and was curtly provided by the server, who once again didn't apologize. On top of all of this, the food was significantly worse than it had been a week beforehand. The soup was more watery and less flavorful. The summer rolls had significantly less avocado. On the whole, the experience was not fun. read more

I have been in miss saigon more than i can count and i can say that the food is pretty decent and sometimes really confusing... Confusing because one daythe taste is good and another day the taste is totally different like off. But still eatable. The staff is nice. That young franco-asian waitress is really a sweetheart. My orders are alwaysbased on her recommendation! Sometimes her English mightbe confusing to understand but she is really a truthful waitress!! I'm really not surprised with Sherry's comment about her attitude. I have seen her quite a couple of time acting quite rude to Asian customers. Maybe she has a bad experience with some Korean or Chinese customer and now she just hold a grudge on them! Or that also can be any white people? Who knows?
