I love this food so much; everything I order is always excellent, and I am always so excited to come here. My favorite order is #40, which includes 6 dumplings in the kimchi noodle soup! It is amazing taste wise and is very satisfying. I always feel full but never stuffed which is perfect, and I think the ratio of everything is perfect as well. The pho is amazing of course, and the appetizers such as the spring rolls and the chicken wings are REALLY good too. When I lived in Amherst, I went here more than twice a week and would've gone more if I had the money. The pho was good. Their version of larb wasn't as expected and had to send back. Ground chicken tasted very odd. Almost like it was bad or just needed A LOT more seasoning. I have had MANY versions of larb and make it myself. However, theirs was just off. Asked for rice to accompany the larb and papaya salad but never got it... was charged. The best restaurant in Western Mass hands down. The menu is deep, the soups are a go to for me, the Tom Yum is a great appetizer soup, if you are getting a stir fry or noodle dish it will be great to pair it with. Chicken Shrimp Mango Fried Rice one of my go to picks, a strong 11/10. Other recommendations: Crispy Chicken Basil, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Red Curry, Shrimp Lemongrass Vermicelli, Truly everything on this menu that I have tried I have been more than happy with. I literally have no words. This is my favorite restaurant in the pioneer valley. Whenever I think of eating out, this is the place. Whenever I need a break from life or anything, I come to this place. The pho here is so phenomenal and it is absolutely my comfort everything. I highly recommend the beef pho. The broth is a little on the sweeter side but still savory and delicious. The only downside is that the jalapeños aren't always fresh, but the pho is so good that it can survive without jalapeños. One thing though, if you ask for extra jalapeños they charge extra for like $3 - be careful, I walked so you can run. I've also had the bun bo hue (middle vietnam), which had a slightly more seafood-y broth and was so comforting. They were both delicious and I recommend either of these. The thai tea is also perfect - not sure how they get it so right! It's the perfect amount of sweetness that doesn't overpower the tea flavor. Always a good option to pair with your noodle dish! I recommend Miss Saigon to everyone. Will be anticipating another trip here soon! read more

I bookmarked Miss Saigon on yelp a month or so before eventual travel to western Massachusetts. It's always great to find authentic Vietnamese cuisine restaurants in small cities / towns across the USA. Here in Amherst, MA is no exception. I arrived here famished on a random Tuesday afternoon around 2:30pm on a recent mid October trip 2016. Sightseeing is a must for this college town, so I stopped by Miss Saigon Vietnamese restaurant for a bowl of pho. Amherst, Massachusetts is the latest stop for my 50 states Pho challenge, where I am attempting to have Pho in all of the 50 US states. The location was perfect, since it was in the town center and didn't not have a problem finding it (Google maps, heheh). The area is a college town dedicated to the students of the university of Massachusetts - Amherst, so it had that urban flavor to it but in a suburban setting. There is a large parking lot in back of the building, but it was $.50 per hour during the day. The meter accepts credit cards, so that's always a good deal to have. I must have spent 45 minutes here from ordering to leaving. The overall experience here at Miss Saigon Vietnamese restaurant in Amherst, MA was as good as it can be. The service was good and friendly. The quickness of the Pho came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Miss Saigon is located at 95 Mount Pleasant Street here in Amherst, MA. Quite the busy area for the center of town, but it was nice. The town of Amherst is a little hard to get to, since it away from any interstate, but the closest one is I-495, then you'd eventually get to MA 202 highway to get to Amherst. They accept major credit cards, which is always a great thing. As mentioned before, they have a parking lot that's pretty big. They share spaces with other merchants in the area too. Best bet would be to get here early and avoid waiting for parking to open up. Or find street parking in your own, if you can not find anything. Prices here for Miss Saigon Vietnamese restaurant is as visually stimulating and competitive at the same time. The large bowl of Pho here is about $9 with tax. I may have asked for extra noodles and that was excellent. I also ordered fresh spring rolls (not deep fried ones) for about $4. I've always thought Pho can cure just about any minor flu cold symptoms you may have. It's a pretty good elixir solution for the common cold. If it's not for you, it's great to eat regardless. The Pho itself was good. The broth itself was good and quite deep with flavor. I did enjoy the extra noodle aspect of it and it made the afternoon in Amherst quite nice thereafter. Something about having Pho makes the day better, but don't quote me on this. Maybe it's because I am on vacation at the time. The spring rolls were tasty, served with peanut sauce and a clear vinaigrette sauce. I think they made it fresh, since you can taste the difference if it was made previously and frozen before someone orders it. I prefer mines made when I order it, since it does taste a lot better that way. The meal is as good as it can be here in Amherst, MA. The restaurant is clean and the ambiance can be categorized as casual and quiet. I do like the quietness of Vietnamese restaurants during the day, since it provides that serenity while enjoying the meal. For what it's worth, dining here at Miss Saigon Vietnamese restaurant had been a pleasure. While the experience can be the same across the spectrum of Vietnamese restaurants I've been to across the USA, this visit to Miss Saigon can be more or less the same. Nothing eventful here, just good Pho at a reasonable price. Miss Saigon is always where I come to get a big bowl of pho. I find it to be the perfect size and have all the ingredients I look for in a dish. That being said they also have many other things to choose from, from soups to stir fry to noodle dishes. In addition they have a large selection of appetizers - I like the spring rolls and shrimp and pork dumplings. In addition, the environment is nice and the staff is friendly. They don't sell liquor but you can bring your own and they'll serve it to you, which is a nice touch. I'm also always excited to grab a free fortune cookie on my way out. There's nothing negative I really have to say. It's overall a good place to stop for lunch or dinner, or to even pick up food and eat at home - the food is usually ready in ten to fifteen minutes if you choose that option. read more

If the food was great I wouldn't mind spending over half my time in the restaurant waiting to get a server's attention, but this was not the case. This little Vietnamese restaurant really impressed me. Prices and portions were reasonable. It was clean. And the menu was jammed packed with so many items that deciding what to order was a really tough decision. I must admit that in the past I was never a big fan of pho, but my recent visit to Miss Siagon made me an instant pho convert with their #29: pho bo sate. The menu describes it as "For the peanut lover. Pho noodles with rare beef and spicy sate sauce." Now nobody asked to see my peanut ID but I am a certified card carry peanut lover: I'm a true lover of peanuts. So this type of pho was right up my alley. I absolutely loved it. The broth was blended with satay spices so it wasn't the regular bland pho that I am accustomed to having. I slurped up every drop of it. My companion liked her choices as well; egg rolls and dumpling soup (the restaurant offers some Chinese and Thai items in addition to Vietnamese items). For dessert the sweet rice with durian in coconut was terrific. We had never had it before and it received both of our "thumbs up." Our waiter was great and rattled off a bunch of information regarding the durian fruit. Apparently it is considered by some in Southeast Asia to be an offensive "stinky fruit" so it sometimes is banned from hotels and public transportation in that part of the world. Now that's my kind of fruit! I want to try some more of it when it's not mixed with rice and when it's a little more stinky. Lastly, it's great to hear some people have had better pho in Boston. Big whoop de doo. Seriously folks. Personally I've had better pho in Vietnam! So take that, you snot nosed fancy pants Bostonians. Get off your high horse and take a look around. When you do you'll see that Miss Saigon is located in a small town 100 miles away from Boston. Truth be told I've never stepped foot inside the country of Vietnam, but I like to think I did for the sake of my point. My point is that bragging looks silly and just when you think your experience is unmatched, there is usually somebody with a bigger head who can top it. I love pho, to me its the best kind of winter-y comfort food and in my opinion Miss Saigon does it the best for this area. I've been to another Vietnamese restaurant and gotten some pho there but to me there is no contest Miss Saigon does it how I like it. I haven't had to wait a long time for my food to come out, maybe its because I come during a busier time?,but I've yet to be disappointed. The broth is excellent, its not to greasy and its not to salty and there are condiments on each table in case you need some hoision sauce in there ( I've got a friend who does it, but its not to my liking). That's the only thing I've ordered here so far, I'm a creature of habit if I like something then I tend to stick with it until I get bored or sick of it. Stopped in for a spontaneous lunch with the fam after discovering that our intended destination (Mom's Noodles & Dumplings) doesn't have high chairs. What a strangely weird feeling to just drop into a restaurant I've never heard of, never googled, etc...but it was cold outside and the sign said open. Highchairs, check. The bbq beef banh mi for $3.95 was great, and I was happy with my beef pho. It had a rich but delicate broth and wasn't too salty, but was lacking cilantro. It did, however, come with an entire hedge row of basil. Fresh spring rolls were meh and I'm not sure I would get them again; not baaad, but too chewy and hard to bite through, and the sauce was lacking some wow. Service was pleasant and present right up until we finished eating and were ready for a check. That's an awkward time with a baby...once the food and chopsticks are cleared, the high chair suddenly becomes like a hot potato that the baby can't get out of fast enough and we really need things to tick along or else one of us is going to have to exit before the fidgeting and boredom spirals downward into tantrum. That's how it went down at Miss Saigon. Waited 10 minutes for the check then daddy and baby made the 'oh god it's getting fussy' dash for the door, and I stayed behind and waited ANOTHER ten minutes for the server to take my boba-to-go order, ten more to get it and then the check. The Chicken Pho is tasteless. My review is for this dish only. I had the chicken pho on two separate occasions. I had hoped the first bowl was a fluke and I wanted to give it another try. It was worse the second time around. Im not commenting on the quality of the meat or vegetables, I think they were fine, my issue is with the broth. It tastes like nothing. Its just chicken in a bowl of hot water. It didnt matter how much sauce and salt and pepper I dumped in it to help because it had no flavor to begin with. I dont know how they can serve that and call it chicken broth. Ive never written such a low scored review but to charge $9 for a bowl of warm water with some chicken in it is unacceptable. I believe the taste of pho is pretty similar amongst pho restaurants as long as they have decent to good broth and Miss Saigon is one of those restaurants that DO have good broth so they're good. I also really enjoy their fried calamari appetizer which is somewhat different made than other restaurants but it's delicious. The restaurant is busy most of the time which might cause a slight wait but the waiters/waitresses are seemingly efficient and attentive which is always sought after. Miss Saigon is a reliable dealer supporting my addiction to noodles covered in Vietnamese fish sauce. They have an ample menu of US favorites like pho and bahn mi, alongside tons of authentic (so I'm told) options like bun bo hue, and com suon. It's really hard to go wrong with anything you pick. Portions are quite generous and I would recommend eating family style with plenty of shared plates. The only downside to Miss Saigon is its popularity and the resulting wait. I have yet to see a dinner-time without a line out their door, and often lunch service can be slow. Not necessarily a knock against their cooks/servers, just a fact about the results of being so busy all the time. In short, definitely try it out just be prepared for a wait. read more

They weren't ready for the back to school crowd, and they made all their takeout orders wait. I ordered food (for 4 ppl) at 6:15pm, and left the restaurant with my order at 7:50pm. They were serving people that were seated pretty quickly (it seemed from watching), and I had to wait almost 2 hours. I should have asked for a refund and left, but they kept saying "yours is next, just 2min" etc., so I never did. I recommend the food, but don't get takeout from here. I avoided this place-- $9 for a bowl of pho, forreals?! Well, I finally gave in and came for dinner. Sunday; 530pm. Got seated right away. My friend and I both ordered the #25 which is the special pho. There are no sizes... ?! The bowl is a lil bigger than my hand, but it's deep, so there's a lot of soup. Got some water.. fresh limes..mm The soup was a bit salty, but it did have flavor, as well as probably a lot of MSG, haha though i do hope that wasn't true. When I was still in Amherst for school, I would go here almost every week. Growing up, I thought no Vietnamese restaurant could top my parents cooking, but Miss Saigon comes pretty close! It's such a great place for comfort food, I loved taking the bus when it was a snow day and getting a bowl of Hu Tieu Nam Vang (#35 Rice Noodle Soup). A little lime and chili oil.... IM DROOLING!! I made a visit a few weeks ago since Covid hit, and nothing has changed since then. The atmosphere, the pricing, the flavor, ugh!! Although they were closed for a while during the pandemic, it was totally worth the wait. PS, their pork and shrimp spring rolls are such good appetizers. Miss Saigon hit the spot this rainy Saturday when the bf and I were looking for a place to eat. Huge servings of pho with tons of fresh, crunchy beansprouts, a huge stalk of basil, and lime? Yes, please. I actually ordered the bun thit ($8.95) which was packed full of noodles, veggies and delicious bbq pork. Granted, I don't know all that much about Vietnamese food and yeah, prices could be cheaper but this place left the bf and me full and happy. The food was flavorful, fresh and there was plenty of it.
