As far as airport food goes, Miss Shirley's is a good option. If I'm ever near their Concourse A location preparing for a flight, I'll usually stop by because I know the quality for the price will be fair and their menu is clearly marked for gluten free options, among other dietary restrictions. They even have gluten free pancakes! I ordered the garden omelette with bacon grits on the side and it was delicious. Plenty of spinach and cheese to liven up the eggs and the grits were good too. It usually comes with a cheese biscuit but I ordered it without any bread, although they do offer a GF bread option for an additional charge. My only complaint is the omelette also came with red peppers but they were concentrated in one end of the eggs and not fully mixed in. Other than that, service at the bar was friendly and prompt. Finding myself on a very early morning flight to Vegas from Baltimore had me hungry and needing fuel for the almost 6-hour flight. A table was available and Joshua B provided excellent service even while hustling to wait on several tables and having to explain that the kitchen was way behind. He wasn't kidding. I ordered what I thought would take minutes to make yet it took over half an hour to get to me. The Caprese Avocado Toast was good, but the kitchen disregarded the "toast" in the toast title. The bread was cold and dry, not toasted, a bit stale. It did have a tasty balsamic drizzle that I enjoyed, along with mozz balls and tomatoes. A cup of coffee (also lukewarm) or two had me on my way to Vegas with at least a snack of a breakfast to tie me over. read more

Of course you don't before heading to the airport for a super early morning flight. I was not feeling the fast food options after TSA. As I approached my gate, the sign caught my eye. A take out order for a flight "scheduled" to board in 20ish minutes would work. The incoming flight was late but too close to start eating. I ordered the CY Young Omelet (Egg Whites with Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Spinach & White Cheddar) and Plain Grits. There's seating at the bar and in the restaurant. Irving took my order when I walked up to the counter. He was fast and my order was ready before boarding started. By the time I found an aisle seat, I dug into breakfast. Though my meal had gotten cold (and I didn't think to get sugar for the grits. Yes, I said sugar lol) that chef can throw down. The omelet and grits were both delicious! I even enjoyed the biscuit. I was pleasantly surprised and ready to sleep. My niece knows where there is a location in Baltimore. You know what's on my list whenever I'm in town. This was a great find in BWI. Saw several other plates of different breakfast food which looks delicious. My caprese chicken sandwich what's delicious period spinach, tomatoes, pesto and freshly grilled chicken which was so juicy and delicious. They do a side of grits with other options. Got mine without bacon and added syrup which was fantastic. Great service and was able to hang out at the table for a while charging and doing some work. I had a long afternoon layover so I went to Miss Shirley's for a late lunch/early dinner. I was seated right away and greeted by the waitress almost immediately. I ordered and iced tea and poppy's fried chicken classic with sweet potato fries. It was served super quickly and piping hot. The ranch to Buffalo sauce ratio was perfect (I don't like a lot of spice). There were plenty of outlets available to charge my phone and I really enjoyed my meal. If you have time to do a sit down restaurant this one is worth stopping by especially if you are in the A terminal, but you need to have about an hour of time to spare. I really liked my salad that I got. I did dressing on the side but I think that was a mistake and I should have just gotten the sauces as is. The salad and other veggies were very fresh. The chicken was perfectly crispy! My husband got one of their chicken sandwiches. I had a bite and it was delicious! I had to take a star off though because it took them a while to seat us even though there were open tables and when they finally did they sat us at a table that hadn't been wiped down yet. Overall though visiting their airport location made me want to visit the real location especially for brunch. read more

While waiting for my flight home to Indy from BWI, I decided to get dinner, and Miss Shirley's Cafe was opened, and looked good. Plus, the Indiana Pacers game was playing and I wanted to watch it, and I had a TV all by myself, so that was another reason. I waited about five minutes at the hostess stand before someone greeted me and sat me, and the place was not busy at all. The server who greeted me and sat me, and took my order,was a little passive aggressive with me, and kind of rude, but I let it go. It was near closing time, so I understood that she wanted her shift to end and go home. I ordered the Chicken Caprese sandwich with a side mixed greens salad, and a Dogfish IPA beer. The Dogfish IPA beer was a regular pint and it was $11, which is overpriced for a pint. I was thinking it would be a 20 oz beer for $11, but that was not the case. Keep this in mind if you order a beer here. The sandwich and salad was very good and fresh, but it did not blow me away. The sandwich did lack some flavor and taste, but it was fresh. The mixed greens salad was delicious though. The service was Ok and decent from the server, but she still had that attitude and passive aggressiveness towards me. I would not come back here for dinner or lunch personally if I fly through BWI again just because of the experience. The food was Ok, but it did not impress me to be honest. The ambiance is nice and has large screen TVs all over the place, but it is just not attractive enough for me to come back and dine here again. This was definitely a miss for me. Coffee could have been hotter to my liking but caffeine is caffeine, and I needed some stat. Definitely would eat here again and grab a drink.
