If you think airport food has to be rushed or forgettable, Miss Shirley's at BWI will happily prove you wrong. From the moment you walk in, the space feels welcoming and well-run--clean, lively, and full of energy without being chaotic. The décor is modern with warm, Maryland-inspired touches, and even during busy travel hours, the staff keeps things moving smoothly while staying friendly and attentive. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits--because they absolutely deserve the spotlight. The dish arrived beautifully plated and packed with flavor. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, with a nice sear and just the right amount of spice. The grits were creamy and rich without being heavy, and the sauce tied everything together with a savory, slightly smoky depth that made every bite better than the last. You can tell real care went into this dish--it's hearty, comforting, and elevated all at once. What really stands out is that this doesn't feel like "good for an airport" food. It feels like legit brunch comfort food that just happens to be inside a terminal. Portions are generous, quality is consistent, and the experience is calm enough to actually enjoy your meal before boarding. Whether you're starting your trip or killing time on a layover, Miss Shirley's Café at BWI is 100% worth the stop. I'd happily order the shrimp and grits again--and that's saying a lot when menus are this tempting.

This is my first visit. Right after halloween. This is why all the waiters were dressed up.. The dishes was ok for breakfast. It's always busy. We waited 30 minutes. We took breakfast plates. The waites was nice. I took a photo with them.

Finding myself on a very early morning flight to Vegas from Baltimore had me hungry and needing fuel for the almost 6-hour flight. A table was available and Joshua B provided excellent service even while hustling to wait on several tables and having to explain that the kitchen was way behind. He wasn't kidding. I ordered what I thought would take minutes to make yet it took over half an hour to get to me. The Caprese Avocado Toast was good, but the kitchen disregarded the "toast" in the toast title. The bread was cold and dry, not toasted, a bit stale. It did have a tasty balsamic drizzle that I enjoyed, along with mozz balls and tomatoes. A cup of coffee (also lukewarm) or two had me on my way to Vegas with at least a snack of a breakfast to tie me over.

I had a layover at BWI on my way to the Dominican Republic and need a bite. My incoming & outgoing flight were both in terminal A, so I decided to have Miss Shirley's for breakfast! Alana was at the bar and I found a seat right away. I ordered a side of grits that come with bacon in them, and a sausage patty. It came pretty quickly, but the grits were cold, so Alana brought me a fresh bowl, which was warmer. The grits had no taste and the sausage was basic, but I needed something to eat to help me sleep on my next flight. The service was good. It was pretty steady while I was there. There's plenty of seating in the dining area as well as at the bar.

Shrimp and grits was not what I expected but didn't taste bad. My fiancé had fried chicken sandwich and it was dry on the inside. Overall it was ok for airport food. Bartender very courteous and helpful and prompt.

Of course you don't before heading to the airport for a super early morning flight. I was not feeling the fast food options after TSA. As I approached my gate, the sign caught my eye. A take out order for a flight "scheduled" to board in 20ish minutes would work. The incoming flight was late but too close to start eating. I ordered the CY Young Omelet (Egg Whites with Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Spinach & White Cheddar) and Plain Grits. There's seating at the bar and in the restaurant. Irving took my order when I walked up to the counter. He was fast and my order was ready before boarding started. By the time I found an aisle seat, I dug into breakfast. Though my meal had gotten cold (and I didn't think to get sugar for the grits. Yes, I said sugar lol) that chef can throw down. The omelet and grits were both delicious! I even enjoyed the biscuit. I was pleasantly surprised and ready to sleep. My niece knows where there is a location in Baltimore. You know what's on my list whenever I'm in town. I'm certainly keeping Miss Shirley's Cafe in mind for my travels out of BWI.

This was a great find in BWI. Saw several other plates of different breakfast food which looks delicious. My caprese chicken sandwich what's delicious period spinach, tomatoes, pesto and freshly grilled chicken which was so juicy and delicious. They do a side of grits with other options. Got mine without bacon and added syrup which was fantastic. Great service and was able to hang out at the table for a while charging and doing some work. Highly recommended and definitely will be back the next time I'm through BWI.

Loved that the first question the waitress asked was "does anyone have food allergies" that was music to my ears. I knew that they would make sure I did not get sick. The food was plenty and tasty.

We had a long wait between flights so thought this place sounded good for some lunch. We both had the Caprese Avocado Toast. I was a bit surprised when there was just one small piece of toast. It was very tasty though. Staff seemed a bit discombobulated, and there was a grumpy customer two tables down from us. Kinda rude and of course his meal was messed up - he asked for no powdered sugar on his French toast and it had powdered sugar. They apologized of course and brought more out fairly quickly.

The food was very good and the service was great as well. The shrimp on the salad was seasoned to perfection.

I had a long afternoon layover so I went to Miss Shirley's for a late lunch/early dinner. I was seated right away and greeted by the waitress almost immediately. I ordered and iced tea and poppy's fried chicken classic with sweet potato fries. It was served super quickly and piping hot. The ranch to Buffalo sauce ratio was perfect (I don't like a lot of spice). There were plenty of outlets available to charge my phone and I really enjoyed my meal. This is also a great spot for airport people watching.

This place shocked me! I have never heard of it until I was in BWI Airport. This was some of the best food I ever had in any airport. It taste like my grandma was back there cooking. Service was good no complaints. I must visit this restaurant outside of the airport. Worth every penny.

He was a sweetie pie, too. Man, I miss the East Coast! Nothing but cool peeps like me just living their lives. After learning that I had a 4 hour layover, I was STOKED. Saw my girl, Khadijah for my returning flight to LA!! I was ECSTATIC! YOU HAVE NO IDEA. It's not the drink but the great vibes and company at Martini's. In fact, I noticed that when she's working, she's always got a full bar. It's her excellent attitude and vibe! I showed up and she had everyone up at the bar so I sat to the right of the bar so I can charge my phone! Even better, she remembered me! She told me that you can grab a drink if you have family, and sit across the way, if need be because those under 21 cannot sit at the bar. 2025.11-05/WED_1400: Just finished a long flight from LAX and had a two hour layover at BWI. I found the only bar between Concourse A and B. Originally, I was trying to stay close to gate A8. Had no idea my gates had changed to gate B. Martini is located at the top of the escalator on the way to Concourse B and the food court. The airport is under construction but you'll see it when you look for the escalator. There was a good amount of customers that looked like they were also on a layover having a great time. The bartender was a gorgeous lady by the name of Khadijah. It's so wonderful to see her beautiful smile and wonderful attitude. I don't know how she does it dealing with some grumpy and idiotic people! She's incredible just knocking everyone out with her wonderful customer service, attitude and SMILE. This changed her from beautiful to gorgeous or gorgeous to stunning. Whichever is top notch! Hospitality is 200%! Some customers feel so entitled and she handled everyone like a champ. No fuss, just a lovely attitude and she let stuff roll off her like waterproof wood stain. She also made me a drink called a Sexy Mule which had muttled blueberries, a flower of some sort (can't remember which flower liquor she told me) and extra ginger (it looked like pink lemonade garnished with blueberries). It hit the spot! Great suggestion! It was nothing like those bland Moscow Mules. If you are wondering where to go after a long flight and you're stuck at BWI for a long layover, I would suggest you see Khadijah at Martini because you won't receive stellar hospitality at any other bar at BWI like this! I'll be returning to BWI next week so I hope I see her again for my insane layover! #hospitality #martini #bar #baratBWI #BWI #mortimerthebear # travellingbear #everywherebear #ConcourseA

We started with Potato Cakes with crème fraiche, they had a nice crunch, a tender interior with subtle flavor. I'd never had them with crème fraiche, it was a nice change and the mild tanginess with the creamy texture complimented the Cakes well. I ordered the Main Street with Weisswurst, a Pretzel and plain Spätzle. It was my first, the veal's flavor is understated in comparison to Bratwurst or Knackwurst (not on the menu) and was a pleasant changeup. The Pretzel was little disappointing while it was a decent pretzel, it lacked the crisp crust and distinctive flavor I expected. As evident by the rating while worthy of note, it's not a game changer. I'd ordered a large plain Spätzle, which was two regular portions, but was served Spätzle with cheese I tasted it and it wasn't my thing, which is not to say it was bad, I just don't care for cheese in dishes like that. Our server swapped one cheese for plain (my wife had happily stolen the other) and enjoyed the replacement. I found that the grilled onions gave it a nice homey flavor. Mistakes happen and it turned out to be a win in the end. We shared a couple of desserts and by far, my favorite was the Black Forest Cupcake. It's on the large side, they might be able to cut on the weighty crème icing, the chocolate cake and soaked cherries were a delight. The cherries are a significant improvement over the Marchinos I had before, if only there were more. Rathskeller can get a little loud, as it is a relatively small space with hard surfaces so voices reflect, it wasn't packed this afternoon, so it wasn't an issue. Waitstaff dresses very casually, it pleasant and fairly attentive.

Sidelines Bar & Grille - Great Cheesesteaks, Burger Didn't Hit…read more I've had the cheesesteak here twice on happy hour and it was great -- especially at the discounted price. That's what brought me back. Turns out Thursdays are burger special day instead, $3 off. The space is wide open with plenty of seating. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, which is a nice touch. This place can get rowdy during home games and late nights, but I've always had a good time here. Today I went with the All-Star burger -- cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle spear on a brioche bun. Asked for medium with mayo. It came open-face, and instead of spreading the mayo on the bun, it was squirted unevenly over the lettuce and tomato. That kind of set the tone. The burger itself? Dry. Bland. The brioche bun felt about a day away from stale. Nothing offensive, just completely forgettable. It was inexpensive on special, but it didn't move the needle for me. I'll still vouch for the cheesesteak. Return for the cheesesteak. Skip the burger.

They live very close to a location there, and we got pizza to go when I was visiting them one time maybe in 2022. The pizza was very good as I recall. Then, I saw there was a location of Primanti Bros. opening in Linthicum Heights near BWI Airport, the first location in the Baltimore-DC area. They were having a grand opening on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, where the 1st 100 customers were going to get free sandwiches for year. I live about 13 miles from here, and I toyed with the idea of trying to be one of the first 100. But I opted against as even if I got there at 6 AM for the 10 or 10:30, whatever grand opening time, and there's still no guarantee I'd be the 1st 100. And I'd be pissed that I drove all the way there and stood there for hours to get nothing in the end. Not to mention, I had work too (although on average probably slower due to also Juneteenth holiday), which I could do from out there to a certain extent. Ultimately, I had emailed them, and they said the 100th customer got there at approximately 4 AM that morning! That's insane. This place really has a cult following! A friend, who knew I lived in AA County, loves this place and mentioned the idea of meeting up with me one Sunday to watch a Ravens game, and him and his fiancée (wife as of March 2025) went up there a few times to watch game or other reasons they went that way. On Thursday, October 3, 2024, like Juneteenth the holiday Primanti Bros. opened, it was Rosh Hosannah, and that friend who had off (as he works in a school & they get the Jewish holiday) off invited me to lunch with another friend of ours. My work was slow that day, and I needed to eat lunch somewhere anyway. I probably would've eaten lunch at home or close to home if they hadn't thought to invite me. So, I drove the 13 miles from home to meet up with them. Those two friends were kind of high. Well sure, it was a holiday they were off work. And they were hungry too! I was hungry too because well it was lunchtime. Service was prompt & friendly answering our questions. However, server was a bit of a klutz as she accidentally spelled some water got a bit on one friend. Geez, was she the one who was high?!...just kidding, it's just one of those accidents that can happen being a server. She was apologetic. My friend took it with stride having a positive attitude. I believe I got a pastrami sandwich, but could've been corned beef. Their sandwiches are big, pilled high with lots of meat & delicious too. I can really see why the following for this place with the quantity but also the high quality. Fries were plentiful too, which were also delicious. I ate well that day for lunch and was quite full. I went to an event that evening, and I think I just ate something small/snack for dinner that night after I got home around 9 PM. This was a great service with excellent plentiful sandwiches & fries and nice service.
