I was so in the mood for some awesome BBQ so we decided to stop in at Mission BBQ. I was SO hungry so I may have over ordered a bit, but there's always room in the fridge for leftovers, right? Tonight we went for the pulled pork sandwich, and the triple combo with the pulled BBQ chicken, beef brisket and the prime rib (they got me with the sign on the doors). I also got a side of Mac n Cheese and baked beans and it came with 2 pieces of cornbread. Picking up the food at the counter took a bit so we just took a booth table and took a gander at all the memorabilia on the walls. We took note that the restaurant seemed to be kinda cold inside...and that translates to the temperature of the food as well, unfortunately. All of the food was lukewarm, unfortunately except for the Mac and Cheese, which I think I enjoyed the most! Next best was the pulled BBQ chicken with the NV vinegar sauce (it comes out fast). Very tender and juicy! But unfortunately the prime rib and beef brisket was a bit dry for my taste...and yet somehow it came out very lukewarm. Not sure what happened there, but I wouldn't order those items next time unless things could come out much hotter. read more

The baby back ribs, the brisket, the mac and cheese, the jalapeno cheese sausage, the cornbread - all with a side of lemonade ice tea half and half - is finger lickin' good. It comes out quick and hot too, sometimes before you even get a chance to sit down. As a Sauce Person (yes, popular noun), I am absolutely hooked on the house options available to us. Incredible experience on Veterans Day. We ordered lunch for our team at Chesaco RV as a thank you and I went to pick up the food on Friday Veterans Day. It just so happened I was there at noon when everything stops in the restaurant and the National anthem was live sung by a veteran! I don't know if the anthem is played daily at noon but yesterday was especially memorable. The rendition was powerful and moving and I had no idea Mission offers a free sandwich to Veterans on Veterans Day. My wife and I love Mission BBQ. Especially this location, the staff is always very nice and even when the place is extremely busy they get the orders out quickly. I always get the pulled brisket sandwich and my wife gets the turkey sandwich which you can't go wrong with any of their menu items honestly. Their meat is always tender, moist and flavorful! I've always been a huge fan of Mission BBQ and this location lived up to every expectation. We tried the smoked chicken, pulled pork, brisket, and jalepeno & cheese sausage and everything was outstanding. The brisket was definitely our favorite. Jessica made our whole family feel super welcome and made every effort to make sure everything was perfect and we were happy. She deserves great credit for making Mission BBQ so great. Oh. My. BBQ. This place is the best. It's friendly, fast, flavorful, and I love all of the support for military, fire, police, and the like. The pulled chicken and brisket are typically my go-to, loving that the dinner option comes with cornbread. The Mac and cheese is always delicious, along with the green beans or baked beans (with brisket in them). Additionally, we've used them to cater parties before and that's always a great idea. They would give a free sandwich or some bonus item coupon with each order. Really appreciated that. And they were very polite when delivering curbside. I love their Mac and cheese, but was once disappointed when I ordered it in bulk and it was very watery/runny. Very unlike them. If you do order large Mac and cheese, I would say to check it before you leave. They are kind enough to replace it if it is runny I'm sure. This location is pretty standard. I arrived at about 5:30pm. The dining area was fairly full but there weren't a lot of people in line. I was giving my order and picking up my food within 10 minutes. I ordered 5 bones spareribs with collard greens and banana pudding. The meat was very tender and extra tasty with the Tupelo Honey Heat sauce. The collard greens were full of garlic and salt but were disgusting. They would have done much better if they had cans of Glory greens back there. The banana pudding was all love. It had chunks of banana, Nilla wafers and whipped cream. It was delicious! I never liked their corn bread. It's dry and tastes like it was previously frozen. I cannot say how happy we were when we found out there was a Mission BBQ opening up in Waugh Chapel. That's about a stone's throw from our house, and we are already huge Mission fans. I'm very happy to say that the quality, flavor, service, and experience are not diminished here over their previous locations. Here's why we love Mission so much: * Flavorful - The meats and sides are full of flavor, great smokey balance, and fresh ingredients. I've never had better BBQ/smoked turkey, and it's still my favorite. The fresh smoked salmon, when they have it, is a must-order item. * Friendly - The staff is always polite and outgoing, friendly and smiling. It would be easy to get lost in a bad day, but they somehow manage to avoid negative experiences like that. * Authentic - As the story goes, they started this venture by traveling the country to try BBQ styles from all over. Having done a bit of traveling myself, I can attest to the authenticity. I'd say they've even made improvements over the minor faults I may have found in, say, a Texas brisket. They have wet and dry versions, and both are equally delicious. Their sauces are reflective of the regions they are named for, and the Maryland BAY-be-cue (both sauce and ribs) are indeed Old Bay inspired creations, which, if you're a Marylander, you probably douse on everything already. * Fast - Because they smoke for many hours, the food is already prepped and ready, so there is rarely more than a few minutes wait for your entrée. Sometimes, it's ready before you fill your drink and find a seat! We have also catered a party with Mission, and that experience was beyond wonderful. The staff was on time (maybe even a few minutes early), with hot and fresh food, and a friendly team member who delivered the 'goods.' I know there are less expensive options available, but for the quality and value you receive, it's totally worth it. I would absolutely order catering from them again. They have also catered some company functions of ours, and the same quality and experience showed up. I cannot say enough about wonderful this experience turns out. Sure, we have brand loyalty to Mission, but it's not given lightly. They have earned our patronage and praise thanks to their dedication to service, quality, and the overall experience. It doesn't hurt that they also give back a bit to the community, primarily through the Wounded Warriors Project. First time coming here. The ambiance reminds me of a country buffet/ cafeteria with a sports and veterans theme. It's self serve here and the employees check in to see how your doing by walking by each table and calling out your order. There are variety of bbq sauces and meats. It's best to ask for meats moist because it's broiled and smoked. It's good. I wouldn't mind going again for something else. read more

The best Mission BBQ experience ever. This location was packed during Father's Day but every single cashier was friendly and patient which isn't always the case. Ordered our food and received it within a minute or two. Big shout out to Kaitlin at the Crofton location. I really love and support their concept and mission so I was looking forward to it. The restaurant itself was very nice. It still looks like brand new and it was very clean. The staff was friendly and courteous! However, I was not as impressed with my meal. Everything is priced fairly high. I was surprised for what I was being charged that my sandwich only came with one side. You could order with two sides but it was even more expensive. Now, I realize this was my first time and maybe I should have paid more attention, but I assumed my sandwich would come with some sort of condiments on it. That was not the case. It was very heavy on the bread but not as generous with the pulled chicken that I ordered. The side order of baked beans was not very large either. OMG! Two days in a row I went to Mission BBQ and thinking to make it a third. The Atlantic salmon is THE BOMB! Soft, moist and seasoned perfectly, I didn't need any extra anything, just my folk and my mouth. Das' it! The menu is really for the meat eaters but for those of us who don't eat meat, the salmon is a welcome alternative. That they recognize ALL veterans with a "thank you for your service" was humbling. I was so touched there's a parking space for veterans right up front, this vet has parked there the two times in a row I've been. Proudly too. Turkey, brisket and sausage with beans and cornbread. Turkey very dry and not much flavor, tasted like lunch meat. Brisket was tender but tasted more like roast beef than Texas brisket. BBQ in the summer...why not?!? This was my Husband's first time trying Mission BBQ and my second. Unfortunately he did not like his pulled pork sandwich. He said the bread was too big and he wished they would have toasted it. I ordered the full rack of ribs. 10 bones with two sides and a drink for about $21. The ribs were good. They fell right off the bone. I also enjoyed the beans. I ordered the kids pulled pork for my daughter and it was a good size for the price. A small sandwich, one side and a beverage for $4.99. The decor and atmosphere were cute and the restaurant was clean. The staff was friendly and made sure the tables were clean. I will try to convince my husband to give it another shot.
