Yesterday's adventure here at Sardi's of Bowie. The food was good but ... My daughter ordered one thing with two sides. They didn't give her what she ordered. They said she didn't get her two sides because the wrong entree they rang was the same price as what she really ordered with the sides. Sardi's ring up wrong order. My daughter got the entree she wanted but no sides. She told the staff that what she got didn't come with sides though sides are on the receipt. What happened to making things right once you know you screwed up? Lousy customer service. Still three stars because food was good. Sardis needs to get their act together. read more

I stopped after smelling the delicious fumes from coming from the restaurant, and ended up getting a half chicken meal (consisting of a half chicken, 2 sides of your choice, and a handful of sauces). I got plantain and yuca fries with my chicken (which was incredibly moist and flavorful), and salsa verde sauces. The meal was tasty and very filling (enough that I had leftovers). 3.5 I'll be honest. I've never been a huge fan of food up this way, BUT Sardi's delivers flavor each time. You can find other good options, however, you really have to sift through the places because you will be disappointed more times than not in my experience. Protein was needed after a long day of traveling and lots of walking. My order consisted of lamb chops, carne asada, brasa chicken (dark) with chaufa + black beans, a house salad, chicken and rice soup, queso pupusa and a drink. Yes, I ate it all. The picture doesn't necessarily make you want to order immediately, but I promise the flavor is there and the meat was not overcooked or dry. The presentation of my chaufa and black beans was questionable... thank God it didn't taste like what it looked like. I didn't need the sauces I bought, but they are delicious so I used them anyway. The jalapeño habanero sauce is my favorite with the aji amarillo following after. read more

I hate to do this to this company because it's one of my favorite restaurants. But they literally served burnt lamb chops. They in good conscience burnt the lamb chops and then put them in a platter to go for somebody that somebody was me. It was so black it had to be carcinogenic. They've gone downhill. Of course they always had good customer service so they're going to fix it but this is like my third order and now I can't hide what they're doing. Only thing I can guess is that there food preparers do not have good judgment or have not been properly trained on what is edible. Not really sure why carrots were included in them, but nonetheless they got ate. Sardis is a staple for my family. We have been coming here for years. I ordered my usual whole chicken, all dark, with sides Plantains and Arroz Chaufa. I also ordered two empanadas. The food was great as usual. My only complaint was the the sauce. It was very watery. I always order a bunch of sauces and they are. Normally much thicker than these. It has been a decade and some since I've had good Peruvian. I remember Sardi's as being good, but dang the heavy-handed seasoning the day of my visit was too much for me. The chicken itself was good only after I peeled the skin. It's rotisserie, not fried. My initial bite of the chicken with the skin punched me in my throat it was so salty. Using some of the aji white sauce helped, but even that was heavy. The chaufa was also too salty. The yucca was perfectly crisp, dipped in the aji, and it was thumbs up. The cafeteria line style service was lacking as such you got the look of "hurry pick your order because there's people behind you!" At least the lady at the register smiled and took her time. Another win at Sardis - Bowie. I enjoy finding new items to love at trusted local establishments. The steak empanadas were not very large but were packed with meat and very well seasoned. It came with a side of red onions and tomatoes, very slightly pickled... a good compliment. The gyro and chicken sandwich were good as well. We decided to dine in. They took our order at the counter and brought our food to the table. The tables are large and comfortable. Music was too loud for my preference, but at least the selection was to my liking. This is a restaurant with a good location, and if you are on foot, the aroma will bring you in. That's what happened to us. The dining room is sort of a bare bones in wood and not the cleanest, with trash overflowing from the bin. The chicken is the big draw. You can see it revolving on spits, very effective advertising. We had to have some, so we got a whole one, and that comes with 2 sides. The fried rice is what we decided on for both. And it comes with chunks of chicken in it. The chicken was super moist and full of flavor. Since it was raining out, we ate in. Expect plastic ware with a single solitary napkin. They have a variety of sauces but were not too familiar with them. we found the bbq to be the best. If you buy a fountain drink, you can get free refills. The service was very good, friendly enough. The people behind the counter were super efficient. For background music, there is Peruvian (I am assuming) just loud enough. It was pleasant and upbeat. In the same building at the end of the dining room is Brewsters ice cream if you need a treat in lots of flavors. Our dinner was just over $30. read more

I visit this location quite often because I live at the town center. The food is always hot and fresh. The portions are always great too and as well as the service. I've been a frequent customer at the Laurel and Bowie locations for about seven years and have always enjoyed the food--so much so that in my house, Saturdays became Sardis Saturdays. However, I have to address an issue that has been bothering me: the shrimp. On multiple, seemingly random occasions, the shrimp has had a distinctly off smell, raising concerns about its freshness. The stench was so pungent. This isn't just an isolated incident; this is the third time. It's impacted me enough that I no longer want to eat (Bowie) Sardi's food. You may ask why I continued to order it. As I mentioned, it is random, but it has happened now three times this year. And I always just labeled it as a fluke. But three times? You're out. If you know the shrimp smells off, why would you plate it? Do you not care about the health of your customers? Do you really not smell the stench? Why am I paying $20 for a health code violation? It's a glaring issue. Does anyone check the food before it goes out? Is this the culture of the Bowie Sardis? I can't pick just one explanation, but you can form an opinion for yourself. I sincerely hope the management takes action to ensure the quality and freshness of all their seafood. Until then, I'll steer clear of the shrimp (and any seafood) dish in Bowie 2 stars for packaging everything correctly and the chicken and sides that I ordered for being on point. Love their chicken and meals. It's so so so so good the sides and all. The chicken is mouth watering. The sauces they have with the meal give it that extra YUM!! This location has indoor seating, the seats aren't the most comfortable but you can eat inside. The line to get your food can be a long wait sometimes. read more

How I loved showing friends food they've never tried before. And it makes it even sweeter when the food is just as good as you tell them it is. I have never been to this Sardi's location but they have the same quality food as the others. I guess that's a great thing about a chain restaurant. I usually order the salmon with plantains and a vegetable! I use the balsamic vinaigrette sauce or the red sauce with this meal! Adds an extra kick but doesn't need it! The shrimp don't need any sauce. They give you two skewers! I get the same sides from above. I used to get the salad but they don't sell it anymore. I miss it so much! Continue to enjoy the food! I placed an online order for my boyfriend to pick up on his way home. We did not order anything special, but ordered items that were already cooked and available from the buffet. The order was scheduled to be ready at 4:19 PM EST, however, he was unable to pick up the order until 4:45 PM EST. Upon arrival, the cashier who attended to him seemed disinterested and unfriendly. There was another customer in line who was having issues with his mode of payment and the cashier was visibly annoyed, however, once it was his turn in line there was no attempt to make amends for the wait. Also, the cashier would not accept the order name but demanded an order number, which he provided, but then claimed he could not find the order (we presented the email receipt). He subsequently received our order and left, however, as the restaurant we frequent often, the lack of customer service will likely be the reason we no longer frequent this establishment. The cashier did not offer any apologies or gestures of goodwill, which was disappointing. We understand the previous customer might have caused a bit of frustration, however, the unfriendly attitude, slow service, and the absence of any effort to rectify the situation left us with an extremely unsatisfactory dining experience.
