    Brisket, greens beans, corn bread

Passing thru Richmond, tried another outlet of this up-and-coming BBQ chain. Was NOT disappointed. It's fast-food style - order at the counter, you bring to the table. Brisket is my favorite and this is OUTSTANDING brisket. Smoky, lean, moist, flavorful, fork-tender with a nice crunchy bark. Choice of 6 sauces on each table; the sweet is my favorite. Side of green beans also fantastic - slow simmered all day with onions and pork. Savory, salty, tender - good ole' fashioned green beans. Plus a square of corn bread. Moist, slightly sweet and perfect for a quick dip in the bbq sauce and then a dunk in the juice from the beans. Recommended!

I've enjoyed this Mission BBQ and the one on Broad Street. The service is always polite. My latest visit I had the brisket and the pulled chicken. Both were very good. Brisket was nice and juicy. I ordered the one with a little more fat to it. Very good! The staff walking around always checks in. Enjoy it every time I go.

I wrote a review for the Mission BBQ on West Broad back in 2014 and my thoughts are pretty much the same today. The service here is phenomenal. If they give you the wrong side, they just GIVE you the one you ordered. If you're a Veteran, Law Enforcement, or serve in some way they got you covered. Food wise I have my favorite things. The brisket is nice, I like the sausage, the mac and cheese is fire, and the corn bread is darn decent. Did I mention the service? Have I had better sides and brisket? Well sure. I've been to TEXAS bit**. The food is just a little shy of stellar levels but for my money this is the best BBQ within a 10 mile radius. It's a great place to get that BBQ fix.

I liked the bbq here friendly staff and actually I had more like 3.5 ribs I like the assortment of different sauces from all over. I think my fave sauce is the smoky mountain. The meat was very tender and fall-off-the-bone...nice. Establishment is clean and the location is easily accessible

Nutritional info on lean and moist... that has always been an option at Mission why not this location

My friends would probably be shocked that I am giving Mission a 1 since I raved about it before this location opened... but until it changes, the Mission BBQ that I love will not get a higher rating at this location. My husband went to get brisket and came home with the driest piece of meat I have ever had. I work across the Mission BBQ on Glenside and Broad and have never had a problem. In fact they almost always have a line out the door every time I am there. I understand that the Mission BBQ on this side of town is new and probably still working out kinks, but telling your customers they don't have a choice for the cut of brisket is ridiculous. There are those that like it super lean and there are those that like it moist... I fall in the latter group. My husband brought the brisket home and I was completely sad and unsatisfied because I got the dryest piece of brisket I have ever had. I am not even a BBQ fan but have been such a great fan of Mission! Come to find out my husband said that they don't do requests for lean or moist anymore. According to my husband they said you get what they cut. I've read other reviews of this location and some indicated they don't like moist but received it ordering. I am boycotting this location until I hear that they let you have a choice of the cut of brisket you want. It is on the nutritional menu on the main website so it makes no sense why the restaurant doesn't allow their customers to select it. Other than the main part of the meal I do have to say the sides are amazing... I got the collard greens... probably the most flavorful collards you've had... green beans are just as tasty. Love the potatoes and Mac and cheese. I would have to say the cornbread is perfect here! The one on Glenside and Broad tends to be super dry. My husband did get the turkey and unfortunately that was also super dry. I'd love to go back, and may even write corporate to discuss this meat situation! I'm definitely bummed about this...

Food is good but nothing special. The one thing I really liked was the Mac and cheese.

We live an easy walk to the new location on the corner of John Rolfe and Ridgefield Parkway. Today we wanted to pick up lunch for our family since we all are home and working from home. I ordered a medium family meal which comes with 2lbs of meat, four pints of sides and either cornbread or potato rolls for sandwiches. We ended up getting 1 pound of pulled chicken, 1 pound of pulled pork, two pints of Mac and cheese because it's that good, potato salad and the southwest Cole slaw. We also got the rolls for sandwiches, Swayze sauce and the house sauce. For kicks we added a pound of rope sausage. So much food and so tasty! I've had all of their meats now and enjoy them all. The sides are also exceptional. My husband and I said we want to come and just have a meal there soon. I want to try their tacos. Anyway, we're lucky to have such good food right in our neighborhood. They have vegan options too so it's not just meat. I personally love portobello mushrooms so look forward to having a meatless Monday soon. Welcome to the neighborhood Deep Run Roadhouse and crew! We look forward to seeing you often.

Thanks to them as well for opening up their back room to fit all the girls. Great staff - very friendly. It's a smaller place. But that doesn't detract at all. Now the food. Insanely good. I had the brisket sandwich and it was full of meat and had onions and Cole slaw. Added on the sweet bbq and it was so good. People raved about the Cuban. The hush puppies were a fan favorite. The peanut butter pie and key lime pie were to die for. The Mac and cheese was excellent, as was the cowboy beans and potato salad. If I lived here it would be one of my favorite places to go. Go on in and hit this place if you are in the area!!

As many have also said in their reviews, it's a unique little spot with only outdoor seating.. can imagine it gets crazy busy in the warmer months. Luckily there's a park right across the street, so you could probably take your food to go and do a little impromptu picnic if need be. You order from a window and they call you when your order is ready - the food was excellent. I had the bbq and my boyfriend ordered the portabello option, both of which were great. I'm personally not a huge fan of collard greens (not sure why I ordered them, tbh) - wish green beans were an option instead. However, the jalapeño mac and cheese (while no gluten friendly) was excellent - not too spicy, just enough flavor, and a good portion size without being too overwhelming. We also each had a beer / cider (they DO have alcoholic beverages available for purchase, despite that not being listed on their menu - choices are just limited). Parking is also limited - we were able to grab a spot on the street right next to the venue, but can imagine that finding a spot during busier summer months might be more difficult. TLDR - Definitely an easy spot to stop for a few minutes and grab a beer and a bite to eat, especially if you're traveling through Richmond with a dog.
