We ended up getting 1 pound of pulled chicken, 1 pound of pulled pork, two pints of Mac and cheese because it's that good, potato salad and the southwest Cole slaw. We also got the rolls for sandwiches, Swayze sauce and the house sauce. For kicks we added a pound of rope sausage. So much food and so tasty! I've had all of their meats now and enjoy them all. The sides are also exceptional. My husband and I said we want to come and just have a meal there soon. I want to try their tacos. Anyway, we're lucky to have such good food right in our neighborhood. The peanut butter pie and key lime pie were to die for. The Mac and cheese was excellent, as was the cowboy beans and potato salad. If I lived here it would be one of my favorite places to go. I must start by saying that this place serves the best brisket in Virginia--no doubt about it! The smoked turkey is cooked just right, and the green beans are consistently delicious. However, we must discuss the mac and cheese and baked beans. The mac and cheese had no flavor at all, which was disappointing. As for the baked beans, I expected them to have brisket mixed in, which they usually do, but this time there was just one small piece of brisket. It was a pile of red mush, with lots of brown goop, possibly bbq sauce that had been in a crock pot way too long and was stuck to the sides, scraped off an added to my meal. Maybe pulled pork BBQ isn't there specialty. If that is the case, they should change their name. There was one customer present when I entered. The worker or owner was on the phone and did not extend a greeting. Once my food was ready, he indicated that it was ready. I asked if I should take the soda that was included with my meal from the case, and he said yes. Although a sign says otherwise, my food was prepared very quickly. Probably because the pulled pork bbq had been sitting in a crock pot or similar cooking vessel forever.

I know everything is expensive right now and places are doing their best but $2.50 per side when being given that amount seemed a little off. The Mac and cheese was good, very creamy and cheesy. The fries were hot and crispy. Could have used some extra seasoning. The hot dog was good. I added extra BBQ sauce but the bbq on the dog (NC style) was nice with a good vinegary bite. The slaw was ok. I prefer a smaller chop on the cabbage just for ease of eating. The sauces were all really good with the Wildwood hot being my favorite.

Bathrooms available and ample places to park since it is a part of a shopping center. The staff gave me an overview of the different types of BBQ: NC is more vinegar based, Red is Virginia's take with a tomato base, and Just BBQ is your classic sweet BBQ sauce. I of course had to go with the Red since we were visiting Virginia for the first time! I'm so glad I did. The food came out exceptionally fast and everything was fresh and hot! I seriously can't express how good the BBQ was. It was juicy, flavorful, and everything you'd want from BBQ. I'll be searching for a sauce like that for years to come since I'm not local! The potato salad was also excellent and the mac n cheese, despite being a bit mushy, had a good flavor. I absolutely loved the corn muffins - no notes!
