I ordered a 3 Meat Sampler with Brisket (moist), Cheddar Jalapeno Sausage and Turkey, very quickly re-ordered a 5 Bone Spare Ribs (St. Louis Style) after I tasted the brisket, usually I wait until 2nd or 3rd visit to try the ribs at most places only if the initial experience warrants it! The selection of different sauces only accentuated the beautifully smoked, juicy, well seasoned meats and sides! The clean, well lit dining area and the overall atmosphere (collection of pictures, memorabilia to honor first responders and armed forces decked the walls throughout) was refreshing for a barbecue restaurant! Really good sides but just okay meat. I made the mistake of getting the chopped brisket which was drowning in sauce (and I usually enjoy wet BBQ but this was just too much). The smoked turkey and brisket were dry. Nice variety of sauces. Mac and cheese, potato salad and fries were great and the banana pudding was just okay...need more banana flavor. This was a great atmosphere and the food was amazing! I had the salmon and put some of the Memphis belle barbecue sauce on it and it was to die for. My sides were the fries which were great and the cold slaw which I added their NC vinegar on it and it was awesome! While we were there they recognized a world war 2 veteran. Love it! Tried the Smoked Meatloaf with baked cheesy potatoes and cornbread ..very well seasoned potatoes with just the right amount of cheese, melted in your mouth. The cornbread has the perfect hint of sweet and the texture is cornbread not cake like at all. AND the Smoked Meatloaf was smoked to perfection..slightly pinked all the way through with a side of ketchup that had a little bite at the end. We had their BBQ catered in for us today at work. I must say this was by far the best I have had in quite some time. The jalapeno and cheese sausage was my favorite. I have been to many BBQ restaurants in many states and locations. This is head and shoulders better than any other BBQ place I've ever been in. The decor is perfect. Everything on the menu is a la carte. The fact that they offer a sampler is absolutely wonderful in a world where you never know how they do their BBQ vs everyone else. Tonight I had to venture out alone for a bite to eat, my wife is usually with me but had to work so I decided on some BBQ at Mission BBQ. The building is very roomy and the restaurant was packed at 7:15 on a Monday night which I found impressive. I ordered the 5 bone baby back ribs without sides, I usually indulge in sides on the weekends and stay to the keto diet throughout the week. Well, I was very surprised at the huge slab I received, it looked like half a rack, I actually got worried it might be to much, but I ate it all. When you hear the word the phrase fall off the bone, well their ribs could be the picture in the dictionary. Literally once I dug a knife in to separate the ribs, the meat just fell right off. The flavor was excellent. What pushed this place to the top was the interaction the employees had with the customers from the beginning to when you leave. It was almost, let me repeat almost as good as Chick Fila customer service and interaction. So it means they really make an effort to ensure you are satisfied with your meal and happy when you leave. All the meats are delicious. They rotate specials each month and they are all different from the regular menu. They also have different side specials each month. Admittedly I'm not a huge bbq fan but we were celebrating a family birthday and we've heard good things about this place so we were excited to give it a try. Since it was our first time we ordered the meat sampler and chose lean brisket, pulled pork, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage. The brisket was good, the pork was better (not dry at all), and the sausage was my favorite of the meats. It was fun having so many different sauces to try and my favorite ended up being a mixture of the Bay-B-Que and Tupelo Honey Heat. The cornbread was ok, slightly sweet (which I like) but it was dry. We tried the mac & cheese and baked beans as well. The mac wasn't anything special and the beans had an over powering flavor that we didn't care for. We're usually big baked bean fans but nobody even wanted a second bite. If another celebration should bring us back to this place I'll get the sausage and try a different side dish. Overall I was disappointed since I had read a lot of reviews about how amazing everything is but maybe we our expectations were just set too high. read more
