The food is ok, but you really don't get much for the price. I also wasn't impressed with the flavor, as the taste was carried by the sauces. For me, BBQ should taste great on its own and be complimented by the sauce. Here, I found that I needed the sauce because the meat was not very Smokey or nuanced. Maybe it was an off night ? Not sure, but I just wasn't impressed. I had the two meat combo which came with a piece of cornbread. If not for the free sample of cobbler I would have left more hungry. The pulled pork was such a small scoop, and the sausage was one link split in quarters. I expected the portions to be more like Famous Dave's. Other than the food issue, the service was quick, staff were very friendly and the place was clean. It's not a bad place to eat, but it'll add up pretty fast if you want a full meal with sides and a drink. I think, for me, this is better suited as a lunch spot. read more

Used to love mission but the manager and lady who called us at the one in West Allis WI are disgusting ppl with attitudes! Awful customer service!!! We were told last time we were there if we wanted to make sure we get 3 burgers order at least an hour a head of time! So we did. We were on our way, 7 minutes before our pick up time they call us and say they only had two. Plenty of time to put another one in (45 mins they told us to make). We had to substitute our order when we didn't want to. My husband asked for the gentleman's name when he picked up our food, which he wouldn't of but he made a smart remark when he went and picked the food up: the gentleman all condescending goes "I'm the manager" proceeds to laugh like he is untouchable..Then made a comment you could have just got a refund, when my husband wasn't even going to say anything even after being mad about the order. What type of customer service is that and why would you not try to remedy it? My guess is that they gave one of our burgers away and had to now lie to us. We did what this store told us to do to make sure we got burgers when we ordered. This isn't the first time this location has done this before we picked up after we called and didn't have all 3 burgers we ordered. How rude can you be when this was something you told us to do! I will never ever go here again and that sucks because we support veterans and loves this place! But the customer service supersedes all, I won't be treated disrespectfully especially after you told us to order ahead of time but 1 hour. Clean restaurant, delicious food, and extremely polite and helpful staff. We always love coming to Mission BBQ and opted to try this location. Plenty of parking and we were immediately greeted. The food can be a bit pricey but they have consistent quality every time. Our food was ready quickly and we were able to get a box and sauce to go for leftovers. For once I didn't get my usual smoke meat's because I saw the black plate special was a smoked Hawaiian seasoned ribeye with a Hawaiian teriyaki glaze, OMG what the a great sounding dish that comes with corn bread and side of the glaze for dipping. The corn bread is always excellent, moist with real corn in it. The ribeye was super tender melt in your mouth to my surprise with a nice seasoned smokey flavor. I was skeptical about the glaze dipping sauce so I tasted it on its own and it moves from sweet and finishes with a mellow heat which was surprisingly good that takes a few seconds to transform on your palate. Overall the black plate smoked ribeye special was surprisingly good for a chain restaurant with fresh quality and taste. On a side note the staff and service was super friendly and a total opposite of the restaurant I walked out of before I came here. read more

Found there is a store in the Milwaukee area and we've ordered here at home. A bit pricy for a small order but the food is delicious. I went in on my lunch break today. 1. the cashier did not greet me when I walked up to the register. 2. i had the salmon and Mac and cheese and both were flavorless. 3. there were a group of white men that left out after eating and were told bye by the cashiers and were thanked for their time. For chain BBQ, it's really good! This is a fairly new Mission location and it's close to home for us so we've stopped a few times. I'm a fan of their turkey which is a large portion (I usually need the Misters help to finish it) - they do a good job keeping it moist even though it's a lean meat. You can choose how many sides you want (if any) based on how hungry you are. I generally get their green beans which are cooked with bacon and onions. Sauce wise, they have 6-7 choices ranging from classic KC (too sweet IMO) to Carolina Vinegar. Don't miss out on Baja Bold if you like spicy - it's not in the caddy, but up near the other condiments. Staff is super friendly and prices are really reasonable for what you get. I could do with a little less performance patriotism but that's kind of their thing. read more

I love mission bbq. A high quality fast food bbq is hard to find and mission hits. It's not the same as a traditional bbq joint but hits the mark! I went here for lunch on Veterans Day with my wife because they offered all vets a free sandwich. I was expecting the place to be crowded, and it was. Despite the crowd, the wait was relatively short and the staff could not have been more welcoming. I ordered the brisket sandwich with cole slaw, and my wife ordered the pulled chicken. My brisket was moist and warm and was a pleasure to bite into. Even though there were sauces available at the table, I didn't use any. The meat was so good that it needed no assistance. The cole slaw was creamy and crunchy and had a nice flavor to it. Even though orders are placed at the counter, a member of the staff stopped by our table twice to make sure everything was good. Decided to stop in for the first time for lunch. I wanted to try something different from my normal BBQ choice of brisket or pulled pork. The building location I feel like doesn't have that great of service, but however I do like the American memorials and pictures in the location. We went to Mission Barbecue after my uncles funeral, we decided to meet there for the Repass meal. It's a interesting place, sort of a cafeteria feel, not as cozy as Famous Dave's. It's got a fast food feel selling comfort food. I ordered a 10 bone Sparerib dinner with cornbread, collard greens and coleslaw. The meat here is smoked as opposed to grilled. My ribs were quite tender and tasty, they provided 6 sauces similar to Famous Dave's. I ate 3 bones and shared 2 bones with my wife. I took the rest home. My wife ordered the smoked 1/2 chicken, I forgot the sides she had, she said the chicken breast was dry, but the leg quarter was very good. We likely would come back. I still like Famous Dave's, but I now have an alternative place to go that has a slightly different vibe on barbecue. read more

First time coming here for a catering order for work. The first customer service rep was really rude, but the second rep I spoke to was helpful. He explained how their catering would work for our order and the ordering process was seamless. I was able to email our order and pick it up the following day. Everything was in the bag and box, including all of our sauces and silverware. Some of the catering food was greasy and leaked a bit, but nothing a napkin couldn't take care of. We are from Missouri so we love our BBQ. We compare everything to KC BBQ and this place didn't disappoint. The brisket was so tender and juicy. I'm not a big brisket fan but this was some of the best I have ever had. It's even better than my husband's (don't tell!). We also got the pulled pork and the sausage. They were both excellent! Our sides were the baked cheesy potatoes and Mac n cheese. The cheesy potatoes was so good!! I could have ate a whole bowl by myself. The people we very friendly and helpful, too. The decor is dedicated to different branches of the military and fire/olive departments. They support these brave individuals by donating to charities in their areas. Mission BBQ now has two locations in the greater Milwaukee area (West Allis and Brookfield) and 81 throughout the U.S. BBQ is big time in the U.S. and if a person doesn't know the different styles from places like Kansas City, Austin, Charleston, Memphis, etc. they can assume it's just some form of grilled meat with or without a sauce. Mission claims it's traveled the country to find and then imitate the best Q, but there really is no such thing. Theirs is a hybrid form that caters to the tastes of many. They unfortunately advertise "fall off the bone" ribs which is an immediate no-no in Texas rib competition! The brisket is sliced thick, it's firm and has a great smoke flavor. We chose the dry version with no sauce (Texas style) and the price at $12.69 for 8 oz. is less than some of the private operations in the Milwaukee area.
