The BBQ was by far everyone's favorite. We recommend the beef bulgogi, beef short ribs, and pork belly--these were the best for BBQ. Since it was all you can eat, we had a few servings of them. There was also a counter for different types of sauce one could get and a dessert section. The hot pot was great as well. We recommend the bone broth and the fish/shrimp/meatballs with it as well as udon noodles. The service was great overall. Our server was busy, but she managed to be attentive with us. This was only my second time at a Korean bbq spot, we really enjoyed it. Our group opted to just do the bbq and not the hot pot. We ordered the bulgogi, steak cubes, pork belly, spicy pork belly, beef tongue, rib meat, shrimp, creamy corn, fried buns, and a few other smaller items. The meat was all good quality! Our tables' favorite meat was the bulgogi for sure. We also loved the creamy corn and fried buns. However, beef tongue was so tough though I couldn't even bite into it (but honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it!). The sauce bar was a fun touch to get exactly what we each liked. It was a little tricky being in a booth and getting people out to make their sauce combos though but we made it work. There is also a dessert bar but nothing was super intriguing to us and we were pretty full from the meal. The only downside was the service. Other servers seemed awesome but our waitress was totally aloof. She missed multiple orders of ours and we had to reorder those, and she acted super confused each time we had to tell her. She didn't give any direction on the process, and each time we wanted to add to the order we had to wave her down. I don't think she proactively checked on us once. A table nearby had the hotpot and that looked really good. We were intrigued and want to come back and try it. I feel like people don't know what the Korean BBQ tastes like, they don't have the Korean chili paste, or Korean side dishes and the dessert looks like Chinese buffet-style jelly dessert. I have ordered squid, but the dish ended up feeling more like a hotpot squid and no flavor, It was also a different kind of squid than I expected. We also order the brown rice cake, but had an dirty oily taste, like it may have been cooked in the same oil as fries, bubble tea inside is jello, I prefer boba. We got the hotpot and they had the standard appetizers which tasted decent and quite a few options of meat and vegetables to choose from. The staff were friendly, attentive, and did a great job explaining everything to my friend, who had never tried Korean BBQ or hotpot before. We decided to do both for AYCE, which was a fun experience. They offer a good variety of meat options. The pork belly fell a little short for me compared to other places I've tried, but the other cuts were solid and flavorful. I also really enjoyed the hotpot! This is my go-to spot on the Eastside for kbbq! I appreciate their veggie and meat selection, I'm always leaving so full after coming here. I like the charts they have to help you make dipping sauces at the bar they have. There are other condiments too available which is really nice like lemon wedges, butter, salt, pepper. This place has AYCE with a discounted lunch special on the week days. The menu is smaller but still good. My friend and I were obsessed with the honey barbecue beef. We also got garlic shrimp, but nothing beat the beef. I had a mojito that was pretty strong and delicious. I tried these cute brown sugar rice cakes, and they were so chewy like mochi and sweet because of the brown sugar. The sauce I made was soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, scallions, and sugar. It's so sour and garlicky. I loved that they had all the ingrediants to make it seriously. Our server was amazing at switching our grill when it was too burnt, so that was great! Sunday night dinner with my sisters brought us to Back Street (I don't think it was named after one of the greatest boy bands). We were able to get a table with no wait around 6:30 p.m.. The entry way was nicely decorated with cute items from the 80s and 90s, a cherry blossom tree, and cute street table. The tables had fake grass and fog coming out of the top. The staff was attentive and very friendly. There isn't a limit to how many items can be ordered at one time. The price for both the BBQ and hot pot was not bad. I had the hot and spicy soup base which was flavorful and served in a cute pot. The meat option was the usual choices but a little bit different from other places where the pork was more of bacon style than the bone in strip. The interior design is very thoughtful and you're taken into a transformed space. The flames that line the seating area look so real. Their main entrance has a few corners you can pop off into to get that good selfie. There's music playing in the background but it's not overwhelmingly loud. On the day I came, the music was on point. SERVICE: My server for the day was Jacky. He made a gal feel special for her birthday. Our water cups were NEVER empty. He checked on our table so many times. We kept adding food and he didn't leave a single item off. He went over the menu for us and even stopped in and helped turn some of our meats over. Also, he was great about changing the grill before it got too smoky. FOOD: For the meats, everything is top notch. The meats aren't too fatty and the cuts are good. My personal favorite was the beef bulgogi. The only thing that has small portions is the seafood. Specifically, the mussels. If you like mussels, you should start with 2 orders because one order only has 3 mussels in it. The squid actually had pretty decent portions. The only thing my table didn't get a chance to try was the octopus For a price of $32/person for the Korean BBQ, you get a pretty sweet deal. Rice is included in that price!! I was really furious at the owner or staff today. I walked in with my family paying only what I could afford for them and I left no tip because why would I tip if I am cooking my own foods? The waiters barely did much for us and I was asked why I didn't tip? The staff walked up to me and stopped me from leaving and asked why I didn't tip. First of all it's my choice, and second, if you are worry for your staff then YOU should raise their PAY WAGES and not solely rely on others who worked hard to just come in and have a decent meal. Came for Korean BBQ for dinner on a Saturday night around 8 pm and was seated immediately with no wait. I was really impressed with the service we received all night. Our waitress checked in frequently and was so patient with us, and she proactively offered grill changes a few times throughout the night. Our waitress also mentioned we would not be charged for any extra leftover food which surprised me, but it was nice not having to worry about that. I liked the ambiance as well and the place seemed very clean which I appreciated. It was not smokey or difficult to breathe at all. While the menu has all the Korean BBQ basics and many options, I found myself wishing the place were a bit more authentic. The bulgogi was our favorite that we ordered, and while the quality the meat was good, I feel like it could have been thinner with more marinade. There were also few authentic banchan options (only kimchi you had to order off the menu) and the sides bar only had fruit, seaweed salad, and some desserts. Overall, I enjoyed the experience that we had and this would be a great place to introduce someone to KBBQ for the first time, but I hope over time that they upgrade their Korean BBQ menu offerings. The service and ambiance were great though so I hope Back Street keeps that up. They had a great selection of items you could get for both the BBQ option and The Hot Pot option. We went with the BBQ and loved everything. Our waiter was truly on too of things and made sure we had what we needed. She checked in on us every so often when she noticed our food would go low and ask if we wanted to order any more. Was searching for a hotpot place in Milwaukee for a small graduation get together. This came up as a newer but put together place, so we gave it a try! First glance at the menu, it's easy to get discouraged. However the server thoroughly explained how the all-you-can-eat BBQ & Hotpot works, and we got the hang of it pretty quickly. The place overall is very sleek design wise, and does a good job of making each table feel secure and private. The selection of the menu was great. My dad, normally discouraged by restaurants because of his intolerances to dairy and gluten, was very happy to find a place that had practically an entire menu that he could eat. It's safe to say that this menu is very gluten and dairy friendly. As for the price, it's $30 something dollars per person for all-you-can-eat hotpot & BBQ. Depending on how large your group is, this is not a cheap endeavor. It does depend on your liking for hotpot & BBQ. I do want to come back to this place for my birthday dinner. Milwaukee needed a hot pot / Korean BBQ place and Back Street delivered!! We did the all you can eat hot pot and the food was delicious. Love the individual pots so we could pick our own broth. Food was fresh, large variety of options and delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and kept checking in on us and asking if we wanted to put more food orders in. Bus-boys were constantly clearing plates to make sure we had enough room on the table. Love the ambiance! The entryway is super cool with the statue and we absolutely loved the simulated flames, the karaoke decor, and the beautiful designs on the hot pots themselves!! We will be back! read more
