This is seriously good BBQ. The building is simple and suited well to a casual lunch or dinner, but…read morethe food is outstanding. Every aspect of the Smoked Cue'ban was clearly made with care and arranged intentionally, which is way beyond what I'd expect from a quick sandwich for lunch. The bread was perfectly toasted, the pulled pork was stacked high and piled on neatly, the pickles maintained some crunch and weren't soggy, the Swiss was melty and cheese-pull ready, the fries were fresh... I was even approached to check on how the meal was. I don't think you'll find a better BBQ restaurant anywhere around here. Fantastic meal and very high quality, I'd order this for catering sometime too.

Food: They have a really large selection of items. It's all posted on the wall next to the counter. You can get sandwiches, sides, or meats by the lb to go. Lot of excellent options. They offer a selection of beverages, including cans of beer, from a cooler. We decided on a couple of sandwiches. I got the Pork Belly with a side of Bourbon Mashed Potatoes, and she got the Chopped Brisket with the Dill Pickle Potato Salad. I had them toast my bun. Didn't take long before it all came out. Good temperatures, excellent flavors, and good size portions. They have 4 different sauces at the tables, and there are even more at their sauce bar. My food was awesome! The pork belly had nice slick slices, good ribbons of fat, and melt in your mouth tender. The mashed potatoes were sweet, and creamy, with a little chunkiness. Bun was toasted nicely, but a grilled option would make it even better. Tried most of the sauces, and found a couple that I really liked, the Gold Tang and Alabama White. My wife's experience was not as good mine was. Her's was the chopped brisket. Some of the meat was excellent, but there was enough dry pieces that you really needed to have sauce. A bit disappointing. The potato salad was very good. Very fresh, with good picklet flavor. Service: The folks that took care of us were all super friendly and helpful. Got some needed help with ordering, and advice on the sauces to try. Even stopped by during the meal to check on us. Atmosphere: The place is small, but they have comfortable seating for different size groups. It' has a casual barbecue feel to it. There were several other small groups there, and the noise level was good, easy to have comfortable conversations. The selection of sauces on the table, and the sauce bar are easy to figure out and use. Might be helpful to have small plastic cups by the bar for self service. Enjoyed most of the meal. Not sure if it was an off-day for the chopped brisket. I would definitely stop again and get the same meal. Lots to like about this place.

Saw that they were opened on Saturdays and decided to drive by in my way to the store and they were opened (Wednesdays and Saturdays 11-7). Proceeded to the store and upon walking out, you could smell the smoker from there! Upon pulling up and walking in, you are welcomed by the smell of smoked meats but not too over bearing, just right. The place is clean and well organized and I was greeted by the owner with a friendly smile. After a little conversation, I decided to go with 'the deuce' (2 meats and sides). I chose the tri-tip and pulled pork, greens and potato salad. Also the banana pudding! None of this disappointed in any way. stud Tri-tip was smokey and moist, the pulled pork just right, very little sauce needed. I tried some out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised how well it complimented the meat. The sides were fresh and seasoned quite well. Lastly, the banana pudding was delicious. Nothing about this meal disappointed. If you like brisket, go with the tri-tip! Easy transition and it is the best of both worlds for brisket (mostly lean with some marbling). Definitely will be coming back to try everything else on the menu! This is a must if you like good BBQ!

This being a restaurant- I weight the food heaving in the rating as that is why you go to a restaurant. Where do I begin?! I ordered the Lord something or other - where you get brisket, chicken, and ribs. The brisket was absolutely awful. Gray, sliced thin, flavorless, very tough. Severely overcooked with zero fat content, dry as a bone. More like rawhide. Drenched in sauce - and if you have to ad sauce to try to make brisket edible - it's no good. Just bad. The ribs- oddly - had a bark like outer covering but I can't speak to flavor because they were drenched in sauce. I sincerely cannot understand how anyone could think this is barbecue. The chicken- over cooked, tough, and again, drenched in sauce. Asparagus- overcooked and slimy - even though it was supposed to be grilled. It wasn't. For the price of the meal, the quality was extremely low. One of my worst meals this year. If I was a chef - I'd be embarrassed this left my kitchen. Lastly, ordered a prickly pear cocktail. Tasted like watermelon. I've had prickly pear juice and drinks before- this had no discernible flavor that resembled prickly pear. All in all- I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. Please- go somewhere else. Anywhere. This food was just flat out bad and very poor quality.

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

When is a "Traditional Bratwurst" served with deep fried potatoes. It's all show, expensive show. They push the beer and drinks, sure, it's German themed. What apparently is not understand by the owners is that in order to consume alcoholic beverages one needs a good meal in them. Like a broth soup! Does this place even know how to make soup without cheese? What sauerkraut? Is sauerkraut German? Apparently not in Germantown. And the multiple plug--in air fresheners in the bathroom oozing out the fake covering odor onto the people on the bar stools and sitting at the tables, covering whatever real scent of food is left. The kitchen is in the building next door - Relish Supper club. In a time when Germantown really needs a place for quality German food, the owners (who also own Stillery in Richfield and some other place) give us a supper club. RIP German heritage in Germantown. The best place for German food in all of Milwaukee is still at 59th & National, not in Germantown.
