Mission Pools has a genuine initial-contact problem. We reached out for a quote via the website because they were recommended by River Flow swim systems to us. We indicated we were serious buyers and ready to purchase. Found an email on their site and reached out to that also. We received a call from Tony on June 15 (sales guy on commission) and scheduled for June 22. Tony called the morning of June 22 to say he forgot he had to take his car in for service and could come the next day. Tony showed up on June 23, 2020. Quickly surveyed our property within 30 minutes, wasn't very creative or innovative with design questions, said he worked on commission and had to jet to another appmt, said he would get to our design eventually bc he could only work on the design at night due to not having childcare during the day. That was the last time we heard from Tony or anyone from Mission Pools. It's August 15, 2020 and we never got a quote, a design, a callback. Nothing. It's like Tony and Mission Pools was never here. No one from Mission Pools followed up to see how our initial meeting went, Tony disappeared. Funny enough when he came out we asked him why he wasn't one of the old men shown on the Mission Pools sales page. He said he'd been with the company a few years already and didn't know why he wasn't featured. Mission Pools says it's all about tradition and customer experience on the page but this is far from the truth. First impression, lasting impression. read more

I'm writing this in my swimming suit, having just finished a refreshing swim in my new pool! If you are going to get a new construction, like we did, I would whole-heartedly recommend Mission Pools. Each phase of construction proceeded on time with the only delay being the one day it rained. Other pool companies may give you a lower price but what you get in return are delays and headaches. This is a large investment, go with a company that has been around and has a solid reputation. Dawn Ridgeway is awesome awesome awesome. She is a very patient and caring person. It took us over a year from when we first contacted Mission Pools until we signed the papers - this is because after she drew up plans for us, we decided to move to a new house. I hate typing, so this will be short and sweet. I have dealt with M.P.'s a few times, unfortunantely. I forgot that I did not have a good experience the last time, for it was years ago. I needed a new heater, the bid from M.P's was 3,767.62. when I went on the internet thru amazon, I found that most charged around 2,750.00 for the exact same thing. (these prices include installation.) then I found a small pool co. less than a mile away from where I lived. he charged me 2, 748.00 for the exact same heater and installation that mission pools wanted for 1,000.00 more. and like many have said their c.s. is not good. they act like they really don't want your business. they make great pools. but for repairs and c.s. they fail miserably. p.s. they charged me 125.00 to come out and look at the heater for 10 minutes. the company that did do the work waived the fee. but said if I did not choose them the consultation fee would have only been 65.00 compared to the 125.00 M.P.'s charged me. read more

When I called and spoke to Diana in service, who was our sales rep in the beginning stages, she remembered me and we chatted briefly about our lives. We had Mission pools install our spa, decorative rocks and patio only to find out that the contractor that did the hardscape was not an employee of mission pools and was not licensed at all. Just recently we had them come out because our heater had stop working. The service call was $125 and the technician left a note that said "Your heater is rusted you need a new one". He left the equipment in service mode, the door open and didn't check any of the other equipment--what a complete waste of time! Go with a different company that values their clients! read more

Mission pools work is quality work for repairs and it's nice that I need not be home since they access everything from a side yard. They have repaired 3 valves or switches and each time was great work. They are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. read more

We contracted with Mission Pools in July of 2020 to put a pool in our back yard at the recommendation of our general contractor. There were a couple of missteps at the beginning and the project took longer than expected. But our salesperson Chris and the construction project manager Dave did everything in their power to get the project back on track and finished. As we approached the Thanksgiving holiday they pulled out all the stops and worked on Saturday and Sunday to finish up so that we could use the pool during the holiday weekend. I am a current customer, but I want to put a review out so that others are aware of just how long it takes to install a pool and what they may be getting themselves into. We signed a contact with Mission Pools late June 2020, the contract stated that it would take 12-16 weeks to finish once excavation had started. Mission did not start our project until Nov 2020.....it is now April 2021 and our pool has yet to be completed, currently we are at 23 weeks. Everything is blamed on COVID, however I don't see that as the issue, its poor communication all the way. The project manager has been on site maybe 3 times in the last 23 weeks. We communicate by text only, repeated requests for face to face meetings, even a return phone calls go un answered. Request to the office only get pushed back to the project manager, and nothing is accomplished. Mission Pools subcontracts everything out. The majority of the subcontractors shown up on time, do their work and clean up when done (steel, shotcrete, and plumbing). Yet they also have subpar contractors that feel their opinions are better than the customer and slow work down to prove a point, store garbage and equipment on your property for months on end, and never seem too actually finish work that is started. I'd like to say I see the end in sight but I don't, there are multiple odd and ends that need to be completed, damage to the house no one wants to take responsibility for and an overall lack of care for the customers concerns. read more

We highly recommend Mission Pools! From start to finish our project went smoothly. The final product is beautiful! We have done construction projects in the past and pulled our hair out in frustration working with contractors who don't show up regularly or don't communicate well. Our experience with Mission Pools was the opposite. They showed up every day, on time, with no excuses. The communication was excellent and the job was completed with no shortcuts. They deliver 100% of what they promise. They were professional and worked hard every day. We had A+ service from all of the workers at Mission, especially Joe, the designer, John, the construction supervisor, and Ryan, the rock specialist. We were nervous about using concrete rocks instead of real rock but we can't tell the difference between our boulder retaining wall and the concrete retaining wall Ryan built. He drew inspiration from the boulders around our property (it had been in a wildfire years ago so many of the natural rocks on the property have a reddish hue). John has given us superior service and was available for any questions we had along the way, no matter how small. We have recommended Mission to several of our friends already. Mission expects superior work from all their employees and they deliver a superior product. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive bid we received but we chose them initially because of the follow-up we received from Joe. He was the only pool designer we met with who followed up regularly; he was available to answer any questions we had and redesign the project until we had exactly what we wanted. We are so happy we decided to build a pool with Mission. Building a pool is a big and usually expensive project so you want to choose a company who will do it right without having to worry. My wife and I have been talking about having a pool installed in our backyard for years. Well, we finally pulled the trigger and went with Mission Pools. What finally got us to make the leap was becoming grandparents. Obviously we were worried about the cost, but also about the hassle and the nightmare stories we've heard about the whole process. I'm in the construction industry so I really did my homework ahead of time. I only called reputable companies to bid on the project and got some real competitive bids. Mission Pools wasn't the least expensive but they weren't the most expensive either. I was very impressed with Dennis M the sales guy. He answered all our questions and was super helpful with the design. The pool is now done and it looks awesome. The job went great and the only reason it took a little longer to finish than expected was because I held them up installing a fence. How to begin. Well originally I was dealing with Dawn, as I have only heard great things about her work. Once she came to my property and we started to develop the most rough draft of a plan, she punted the job to some subcontractor, josh. As if it wasn't hard enough to get prompt answers and good customer service, this person was so much worse. I started the process of looking for contractors to get a bid on having a pool done about a month ago. I was able to get about 3 bids with drafts since then. For some reason Mission Pools has yet to get back to me, it's been over a month. I don't understand how they can meet with you and give you all the talk of what, when and how's, then just disappear. We contacted a few places. I expected them to be the most expensive but they were actually the most reasonable. They did a custom design which we liked. We worked with Chance and he was very helpful and responsive. The process took longer than expected (but don't all construction jobs?) but in the end we were very happy. We had Johnny as our foreman and the communication was pretty good. I don't mind if there are minor setbacks, I just want to know what to expect before it happens instead of way down the road. They had a few dings to our property but repaired them at their expense. The only snafu was in the hooking up the solar and in the end they made everything right so I was happy. Bob, our sales account manager, was very professional, knowledgeable, and a delight to work with. He was the one who helped us decide which pool design would work best in our backyard. His extensive career with Mission Pools was another factor that played an important role in choosing Mission Pools, too. I must point out one individual, Johnny. He was assigned to be our pool construction supervisor and project manager. If I were to recommend to anyone who they should have assigned to their Mission Pools' project, it would be Johnny. Some 15 - 16 years ago Mission Pools built our pool. We were very happy with it and called on Mission Pools for service as needed over the years. About 6 years ago our pump went out. It was a single speed pump that the law required be replaced with a variable speed pump. We called on Mission Pools and they replace the old pump with a variable speed pump. However, they did not install the controller add on that would allow the pump to operated as a variable speed pump and they did not properly wire the pump. We learned these facts recently when we called again on Mission Pools to determine why our hot tub was not working. The MP technician told us that the pump was not properly wired (he actually showed me that the wire plugged into the pump was not connected to anything) and the pump had to be replaced. I had another company come out and have a look and they confirmed that the pump was not properly wired and had never been set up to work as a variable speed pump. They found a faulty relay the prevented the pump from working as a single speed pump as it had for 6 years and swapped the relay so now the hot tub works again. Did not need a new pump. I phoned MP to let them know that they had not properly installed the pump 6 years ago and that their tech had failed to identify the immediate problem. At MP's request on April 22, 2020, I emailed the notes from the other company along with the $1,200 bid to install the new hardware necessary for the pump to operate properly. I have asked MP how they intend to fix the problem in light of my paying them over $2,300 6 years ago and their failure to properly install the pump and the controller add on necessary to make it work. I have followed up with phone calls sense and have heard nothing in response. I understand that MP may have employees from time to time who do not measure up. I do not understand why they are ignoring a long time customer and not correcting a problem they created. read more

Dealing with Mike and his team at Mission Pools was such a great experience, it's making me consider getting an indoor pool, too. It couldn't have gone smoother, and it was all money well spent. Upon reading some of the negative reviews on here, I had to doubt a few of them. For example, one bad review on here is the ONLY review this person has ever written. And they go to great lengths to tell us how bad this company is. It makes me wonder...was this written by a competitor? It's really the only conclusion I could come to, because Mike and his crew was always prompt with returning phone calls or quoting us various prices. One person claims they didn't call back or some such thing. First, sometimes calls slip thru the cracks. Second, why would a business NOT call somebody back? Third, why if you didn't get a call back (and heard crickets or whatever it was), do you spend 5 minutes writing such a diatribe on the company? I'd just move on, and instead write a good review on the company that did the work. Which also makes me wonder....why is their only one review written by said person? Shouldn't they have written at least two -- with the other being praise for the company they went with? Anyway, thanks again guys. You did a terrific job on our pool. We had a dinner party the other day and got loads of compliments from the folks we had over. read more

Not a good experience. Rust continues to weep through the plaster wall from the rebar. This and other issues were taken to the California Contractor State License Board (CSLB) for remedy. The CSLB ruled that Mission Pools was not at fault, even though they constructed the pool. Additional costs were encountered after Mission Pools finished the work. read more

I still have a few odds and ends that are not finalized but thank goodness that they realized they had a problem and rectified it. Mission Pools completed our pool and spa about two weeks ago. Our site supervisor, Jim McCreevy was outstanding! He was here every step of the process, always kept us updated on the process/schedule and answered every question we had. The crews were very professional and always cleaned up at the end of the day - that was huge to us! Our pool tech, Chris is great as well. We're very happy with the end product! On a side note - while we loved Mission Pools, the hardscape contractor they use and recommended to us was very frustrating to work with and their work was subpar to say the least. We met with a number of different pool contractors, before deciding on Mission Pools. When we met with Mike at our home, we provided him with a conceptual drawing of a free-form pool that we envisioned. Within a week, he developed a computer generated illustration of our pool, and added some water features that he thought we would like. We were immediately impressed. The final design was beautiful. He then presented us with a booklet that included the all-inclusive costs of constructing the pool, and we signed the contract the following week (end of May 2015,) with excavation scheduled for the week following the 4th of July. The entire construction process was impressive, mainly due to the professionalism and knowledge of our Pool Construction Superintendent, Jim McGreevy, who visited the worksite constantly to ensure the high quality of work. Each time he visited the site, he met with us to ensure that we were pleased with the work, and to ask if we had any questions. He always went the extra step for us. Although we were extremely impressed with all the workers from Mission Pools, who were all very nice and professional in their various trades (excavation, plumbing, electrical, etc,) Jim could definitely be the "Poster Child" for Service with a Smile for Mission Pools. He was always friendly, and when he said something was going to be done, it was done. There were never any excuses, because he always got things done. The only hiccup that we had during the construction was waiting for the pool coping to be manufactured. Because we had a free-formed pool, the coping could not be ordered until after the gunite was completed, and a template drawn of the pool sides. This resulted in a 7 1/2 week delay in the project. Once the coping was received, work began again without delay. The entire project was completed almost four months to the day after excavation was begun, and the final product is AWESOME. We just had the pool start-up completed by Troy last Friday, and he was great as well. He explained the system to us, and ensured that everything was running properly. It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to get a contract with Mission Pools. Mission Pools was my first go-to company because I wanted to give local companies my business and because I love their pools. I contacted Mike in September of 2016 for a bid he never contacted me so I stopped by their office to get an appointment since they are so close. Mike was the only one in the office and he promised to come out for a bid. He came out promptly and took pictures and measurements. I never heard back so I texted him a month later for an update on and he said he's just finishing up. It's April 2017 and crickets. I'm extremely disappointed and the dishonesty of this company. Im so glad I didn't go with them because if it's this difficult to get a hold of them I can only imagine when something goes wrong. I went with California Pools and could not be more impressed and extremely satisfied, they made me feel like family and they kept me in the loop even when I didn't need them to. Literally took 3 weeks not months from when they first came out to the planning and then the start. My suggestion is to get multiple bids to get a feel on how you're treated and the response of the company. read more
