One of our go to local BBQ places. Burgers are excellent, flavorful and cooked to order. My last dinner there , I got the chicken black and blue with a side order of beans. Delicious. I'm not usually a sweet potato guy, my wife ordered them and they were addictive. It was a cool night and we sat at a outside table. We have had the ribs in the past, always have been very good. Great place for lunch also with reasonable prices.

A good barbecue in a good spot, we stopped by last night for dinner and ended up seated outside because indoor seating was full. Just one little problem. Last night there was only one server working and handling 25 tables. We sat down immediately at a table outside, but with only one server, it took about 20 minutes before we were able to order drinks and our food. I have to admit she was pleasant and pretty good at her job. I ordered a pork sandwich, and my wife ordered the Tupelo chicken sandwich. We ordered a side of Mississippi sweets, which are sweet potato chips that come in a basket. It probably took about 15 minutes for food to come out and everything looked perfect including the chips and our server was very good at making sure we had what we needed. Both of the sandwiches were delicious and overall I'd come back and eat here again.

Reasonable clean barbecue in a strip mall. Lots of indoor & outdoor tables with parking too. Dara was a fabulous waitress, Friendly personable attentive.... The menu was very reasonable there were a lot of sandwiches, platters, sides & drinks to choose from. We started off by sharing a basket of Mississippi sweets which are warm sweet potato chips, just awesome. I had a basket of baby back ribs and wings that came out steamy hot and perfect. Friends enjoyed their sandwiches and platters as well, we had nothing left over. There was a nice selection of barbecue sauces In mild, medium, Spicy and even a hot mustard.

Went for lunch today. Restaurant was clean and appealing. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The food was good not great. The meats tasted store bought not from a BBQ Pit. I got the rib chicken combo. Sadly it had no smoke or other BBQ tastes except for the sauce. My wife got the pulled pork platter and had the same opinion. Our sides were very good which included Sweet Potato chips, Corn Bread, Mac and Cheese, and Coleslaw. My Sweet Tea was very good as well.

There were a couple trucks parked when we entered the shopping center on the SE corner of Congress and Lantana. My husband knew they were not the right ones. We drove around to find the Family Dollar store. Yes! Right where they said they'd be. There was even a picnic table right out front where we could dine. You order and pay at the window. Your food is packed to go which worked out as we brought a few things home. They do a lot of takeout, obviously. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich. I got the rib sandwich. We shared a small order of baked beans. And he also got some banana pudding. His pulled pork was tender. He added some of their sweet sauce to taste. Ate every bit. My rib sandwich was also very good. I had it open faced. Didn't even need to add sauce. And brought a couple ribs home. The baked beans were fantastic. Nice bits of meat and great flavor. The pudding was my least favorite -- I only had a taste, but too many cookies for me. We even got to meet Howard. He came out to check all was good. And later he said hi to a few of his regular customers. He told us everything is "house" made. What a nice touch to meet the chef/founder! I now know where we will come when we have a bbq craving. And I need to try their rib tips and brisket as well.

It took a few minutes to get a grasp on the menu. The staff was friendly and helped explain everything. I ultimately went with the lean brisket, a side of coleslaw, a side of collard greens and they also added in a piece of cornbread. My wife got the same, except she got the regular brisket which was much more fatty. I absolutely loved my food. Even though the brisket was lean, it was still very tender and of course the flavor was sensational. The sides were also solid. I liked that the coleslaw was chopped on the finer side and it wasn't too saucy. The collard greens also had great seasoning. I didn't try the cornbread but it looked pretty good. The only complaint we had was the texture of my wife's brisket which was a little on the mushy side. The flavor was good, it's just texture wise, most of it was like a big blob of meat and fat, rather than brisket slices. She wound up throwing more than half away. I've actually passed this place a million times and eaten at restaurants all over the area. But somehow I never stopped in at Mission BBQ. Glad I did! Four stars, I am looking forward to trying more items off their menu.

I wanted to try all of them, but I stopped myself from doing so. The Exchange Student was ahhhh-mmazing! It was topped with garlic mayo, pineapple, and potato chips. The bun was perfectly toasted with butter and I enjoyed each bite more than the last. My husband got the Principal Ron and it was topped with bacon, BBQ sauce, and goat cheese. I took a bite of his and it was good, but I wanted mine more ;) Kudos to the guy that was doing the orders that night since he was the only one on the truck doing all the work. Even though it was the longest line out of all of the other food trucks that were there, he quickly handled each order smoothly and didn't stressed about the crowd waiting for those delicious dogs. The schedule is online, so you can check out when and where you can get one or four of these delicious hot dogs. The $5 price is fairly reasonable for each one of them. I definitely will try a different one the next time I visit the truck.

But it's been 9 hours, and I still can't stop thinking about the Australian Wagyu Filet Katsu Sando I had for lunch. It was tiny, but packed a huge flavor, and it was the first time I ate a steak that melted like butter with every bite. It is amazing how a filet sandwich can be so soft, so tender, so flavorful - it's an experience that I won't soon forget. Because the sandwich was pretty small, I also enjoyed the Frito pie. The saltiness of the Fritos (that reminded me of being a child) juxtaposed with the tanginess of the pickled red onions, cream, cilantro and savory chopped wagyu meat was such a fun, but elevated nacho dish. There were so many drinks to choose from, but I really wanted to focus on the food this time. The staff (I think her name is Tuesday) was so kind and knowledgeable - she's the one who led me to the epic sandwich experience I had. The vibe was pretty chill despite being extremely busy. I'm typically not very cognizant of what people around me are eating, but the father and son at the table next to me had a burger, burrito, pb&j sando and more, and I have to admit, I was kind of jealous, because I wanted to try it all! I got a box of 6 pastries for the family. When I tell you everything is made from scratch and your taste buds can tell, I mean it. Here's the lineup: passion fruit kouign-amann - give her the 10s. This was hands down the best pastry we got. It has a nice caramelized crust (like a croissant) that balances the passion fruit filling's slight tartness. Seriously, try it. orange olive oil cake (loaf) - ok, the candied orange on top is DELISH. The loaf is moist, not too sweet, and the orange zest really gives it a flavor close to a loaf I had in Santorini! Vanilla bean custard: tastes like a pastel de nata- an excellent one at that. This filling is silky, creamy, and dreamy custard. Carrot cake croissant: this is like taking a bite into the fall season. Great croissant, and the filling is literal carrot cake with cream cheese icing. The spice profile is so warm and cozy. Raspberry hibiscus vegan bundt - I loved that you could really taste the floral note with the raspberry. I can't believe it's vegan! It is just as soft as the olive oil cake. Raspberry cheesecake danish: It's good. The raspberry jam is clearly made fresh (peep the seeds in it), cream cheese layer pairs well with the jam. But it falls short relative to the other pastries in the box.
