One of our go to local BBQ places. Burgers are excellent, flavorful and cooked to order. My last dinner there , I got the chicken black and blue with a side order of beans. Delicious. Great local barbecue place! The service is always great in the restaurant is very clean. Large parking lot with plenty of places to park for easy access. All the restaurant is small and might not accommodate large parties, this is always a fan, favorite to go. The Brunswick stew is my favorite. It's chalk full of shredded meat and tons of veggies. It's got a rich stew flavor and I get it every time. The cornbread with butter is outstanding. Very sweet never dry. Their barbecue sauce is very good and not overly sweet. The chicken and ribs are always a classic favorite. I highly recommend the sweet potato chips called the Mississippi suites. They're thin slices of sweet potato fried like potato chips. We usually eat a bag on the way home! A good barbecue in a good spot, we stopped by last night for dinner and ended up seated outside because indoor seating was full. Just one little problem. Last night there was only one server working and handling 25 tables. We sat down immediately at a table outside, but with only one server, it took about 20 minutes before we were able to order drinks and our food. I have to admit she was pleasant and pretty good at her job. I ordered a pork sandwich, and my wife ordered the Tupelo chicken sandwich. We ordered a side of Mississippi sweets, which are sweet potato chips that come in a basket. It probably took about 15 minutes for food to come out and everything looked perfect including the chips and our server was very good at making sure we had what we needed. The menu was very reasonable there were a lot of sandwiches, platters, sides & drinks to choose from. We started off by sharing a basket of Mississippi sweets which are warm sweet potato chips, just awesome. I had a basket of baby back ribs and wings that came out steamy hot and perfect. Went for lunch today. Restaurant was clean and appealing. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The food was good not great. The meats tasted store bought not from a BBQ Pit. I got the rib chicken combo. Sadly it had no smoke or other BBQ tastes except for the sauce. My wife got the pulled pork platter and had the same opinion. We used to come here all the time years ago. It was one of my mom's favorite places. She loved their Mississippi sweets which are thinly sliced sweet potato chips/fries that can be addictive. My husband was craving ribs so we thought we'd try this restaurant again. They were fairly busy, but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. Service wasn't anything to write home about -- the gals were talking amongst themselves most of the time, but we were okay with it. You do have to wait a bit for your food, but be patient. The 4 stars here are for their ribs. My husband got a half slab of ribs which comes with two sides. He opted for tractor treads (waffle fries) and baked beans. The beans are okay -- they could use a bit of doctoring or a squeeze of bbq sauce to jazz then up. I like their waffle fries -- and they are still good. We forgot to ask for them well done -- they are better hot and cooked more. The ribs are delicious -- fall off the bone and finger licking good. And yes, you will use those napkins and wet naps afterwards. I got my "usual"order -- it's under starters. A basket of ribs and wings. You get 5 wings done to your hotness choice. I asked for medium and they had no kick at all. Maybe they only did them mild? Not sure. But my 6 baby ribs were great. You also get a couple each of the carrot sticks and celery sticks with a small cup of blue cheese dressing for dipping. Next time, I think I'll skip the plain wings and only order the ribs. I don't know what it is about south Florida, but finding good bbq is a really hard task when you have a crazy hankering for really bbq. Sadly it was a swing and a miss for me here. Ordered a pulled pork sand which with Mac and cheese. Personally I felt that the sandwich was rushed, the bbq sauce was very tangy, Almost to the post where you could overly taste the molasses. but what really did it for my was when my Mac and cheese was served in a tiny plastic sample cup. Like really? Mac and cheese is Pennies on the dollar to make, and if a restaurant is being stingy with such a simple side dish, I can't stand behind that business. If you are at the point where you are stiffing customers of their side orders, the business is already doomed. I had this experience somewhere else , and they went out of business. Start serving portion sizes, The worst part about all of it, was even after my meal I was still hungry. I ended up having to go to whole foods for some proper Mac and cheese. Wife visied Wellington outlet today... happy to patronize... brought home a takeout order that clearly included BBQ ribs smoked a day but two into last week. a few things in life standout like a blister on one's skin: bbq that isn't freshLy prepared . We suspect the counter person knew the meat wasn't freshly prepared as he responded to my wife's request for no sauce or sauce on the side in this manner.. Response... "the meat could seem dry.". I'll say! The ribs weren't even the common color of freshly prepared meat and in parts the meat was crunchy , yet unburned. In response to a complaint phone call the seller stated the meat was prepared "this morning". Actually not the case according to my well seasoned taste for ribs developed throughout the course my life in the bbq belt of Missouri (Kansas City and St. Louis) as well as west Tennesse. Resolution? bring the order back today or tomorrow".". No! We simply dumped the order while committing to never spending our hard earned money at Mississippi Sweets.
