Our AC unit completely stopped working. I had two referrals from friends. The first came out and diagnosed the issue and gave me a price of $800 to fix it plus the service charge. He didn't have the part, so he scheduled to come back the next day for the repair. I decided to call my second referral, Mitchell Heating & Air, for a second bid. I am so glad I did! $550 including the service call and the issue was solved. The technician Steven called ahead, was on-time, professional and explained everything he was doing. They installed our HVAC unit in our new construction home 20 months ago. We moved in December, so it took 2-3 months to realize that when they installed the unit, they never actually connected it. ‍. Once we figured it out, they came out and connected it for us in a timely manner. A few weeks ago, we realized the upstairs was not cooling as well as it had been. They came out again and said we were no longer under a service warranty, only parts. They said the Freon was low. I know Freon shouldn't be low unless there is a leak, but they said it just had evaporated. ‍ Three weeks later, same issue. Brought out a different company who I trust, and was told that because it sat disconnected for those couple of months, it was likely the system was damaged and will continue to worsen over time. read more

Just had one of the units replaced in our house and am extremely happy that we went with Mitchell. We had another company come out and quote us (I won't name them, but they're really big in the metro area and have a Jesus fish in their logo), were given a fancy sales pitch by a slick salesman with all the right things to say, and were made to feel like we had to make a decision before he left. Within 24 hours we cancelled that job, called Mitchell, and never looked back. The guy who did the quote is the same guy who installed our unit, he never once tried to up-sell us on stuff we didn't need, and was extremely professional. Everyone we worked with with Mitchell, from the woman who scheduled our appointment to the technician, was professional and reminded me why I love working with local, small businesses. This Review is a bit conflicted.... I have to be completely honest: I was very pleased with the quick response, on-time arrival, and quality of the work. The tech was a nice guy, efficient, and he explained everything. My downstairs unit had gone on the fritz and my living room was 80 degrees when I got home Friday night. I called, a tech called me back within 20 minutes and arrived about 45 minutes later. By now it was after 6:00pm and After Hours rates would apply. OK, that's life. I needed cold air and I needed it ASAP, so the premium for after hours was expected. Somehow A/C units never break during regular hours. The tech immediately identified a bad capacitor and said it would be about $200.00. I was a bit surprised since the last time this happened to my other unit it was about $90.00. OK, Inflation, perhaps. No big deal. After he replaced the capacitor he found that the blower motor had died and a new one would be $600.00. Whoa! It is a pretty small motor and I guessed it would be less than $200.00. But wait! If I buy the Maintenance Plan for $149.95 (I think) all the prices are reduced. The motor would only be $300.00. It still seemed a bit high, but I was desperate and the plan saved me more than it cost. Long story short...sort of... I was pleased with the response and service but felt a bit bludgeoned by the quoted high prices that would be reduced by the Maintenance Plan. Later I went on line and found the "$600.00" Waqner fan motor retails for under $150.00 (with shipping...) and the capacitor was under $30.00. (I love the Internet) I feel that they wildly inflate the cost of the parts to induce you to buy the Maintenance Plan, which brings the prices down to almost reasonable. My total price was $650.00 including the maintenance plan. I suppose that they feel if they quote reasonable prices you won't feel the need to buy the Maintenance Plan. They are probably right. Anyway, I was pleased and will be using them again...since I now have a Maintenance Plan. read more

Go to the back of the line, your NOT a valued customer, wait in line like everyone else, wait 10 days in 90 degree weather to get your AC fixed - under warranty.
