I've been taking my Focus to Mitch for the past 6 years. He is by far the best mechanic I've ever been to. Such a great, honest guy. He's been working on my car since I was a broke ass student who had to prioritize fixing the several problems that (of course) happened all at once when I could least afford it. He worked with me and helped me come up with a loose schedule of how to get it all done. Hands down, Mitch is the best mechanic I've ever dealt with. And having had 2 older cars with many problems, I know how shady mechanics can be. Been going to Mitch for 2-3 years now with my 2000 Honda civic. He has always been courteous, given me a great deal and gets the work done fast. He is also incredibly honest and will never charge you for unnecessary things. For example, my transmission is leaking and the repair would be $1,000; Mitch straight up told me it's not worth it on my car and wouldn't feel right taking my money. He then offered to periodically check my transmission fluids and top it off so I can keep driving the car until I can afford a new one. Already brought it in once to top it off and they took me right away, took no time at all and no charge!! Even though it's not a big job, what other mechanic would take the time and effort to help out a customer like that? He could have easily told me to replace the transmission. I've had so many other great experiences there, from my radiator to brakes to oil changes to starter I've always been thrilled with the work they do here. Mitch's mechanics are very good. They took the time to do the diagnostics on my 1992 vw cabby and only charged me for the hour of work done on it. Most shops try to charge for the diagnostic and then hit you for any other labor. I had mitch take care of my civic a long time ago and he is always on target. Very honest people. I went for a headlight pricing they charged close to zero for the installation. I was very pleased with their honesty and timely work. After Mitch called me to tell me they were done. I asked him to check because the service light was coming on. I had recently taken my car for an oil change elsewhere; this was a 2nd opportunity to be told that they found something wrong. Rather, Mitch informed me that everything seems good and he reset it to where the service should not come on unless service is needed. Next time I mine as well get my oil change done there. This 2nd good experience and confirms that I finally found an honest mechanic for my future regular needs. Luckily they are only walking distance from my work location. My first experience for Mitch's was a couple years ago when my daughter's 1999 Lexus needed some work. If you are looking for an honest and efficient auto body shop this is your place. I had a small rattle in my engine. I booked an appointment, dropped off my car and walked to work. Later that day I went back and they said they did a full diagnostic and told me everything was totally fine. Shocking since every time I had taken my car to the dealership there was a "significant" issue. After insisting to pay he said it was on them and to bring it back should I hear the rattle again. Okay so I took my car to the dealer and they of course wanted to charge me some outrageous fees for service, parts, etc. It was my day off and i was trying to get all my errands complete but I was not willing to be bent over for those prices! I used the yelp app to find someone locally and called Mitch's for a quote. I spoke with Mitch directly (how often does that happen, these days!) and he gave me a more reasonable quote, was totally professional (major points for this stickler) and was not patronizing since I am a woman!. I took my car there and not only was the price right, the car was done on time, as promised and everyone there was friendly and accomodating. Subsequently I recommended Mitch's to my boyfriend and when we took the car Mitch remembered us and again provided honest, equitable and reliable service. Reader's Digest version of my review: First time here but Mitch and his team were excellent and gave me such a deal on installing a new battery in my 2007 Saturn. They have definitely made a new loyal customer out of me and will definitely recommend to my friends and family. Full story of my review: My car broke down literally 50 feet away from the shop in the middle of the night. The roadside assistance I called took over an hour and nobody showed up! Had to Uber it back home to Long Beach at almost midnight and Uber it back the following morning. Needless to say, I was not in the greatest of moods following all this. I approached someone at the shop (who turned out to be Mitch himself) and he had one of his guys come check out my starter and battery. At first they thought it might be the starter, and when I received a quote I was pleasantly surprised to see what a deal I was going to be getting (turned out to be the battery, but still got an incredible deal). Considering my horrid experience the night before, this starving student was truly grateful that they didn't try to screw me over. Mitch and his guys pushed the car into the garage and a couple of hours later my car was good as new! I felt so gracious to them I felt compelled to buy them lunch, such wonderful guys. If I could give zero stars I would. I had been going to Mitch for 15 years because I thought he was trustworthy and a good person. Boy was I wrong. I drove all the way from Las Vegas to have him fix my check engine light on my car so that I could get a smog check and after I picked the car back up and drove all the way back to Vegas my check engine light came back on. When I called him to let him know this I got a vague response and he did not take any responsibility or say he was sorry for the inconvenience. He told me to drive it back out because he must of gotten a faulty part from the dealership, ( cause it couldn't have been his fault). I drove my car all the way out to CA again to get this so called faulty part replaced and sure enough once I drove it all the way back to Vegas the light came on again. When I called him about this the second time he again was not apologetic and did not take ownership on the fact that he simply did not know what was wrong with my car, how to fix it, and charged me $1200 for a car that I still did not have fixed. Instead of instantly offering me my money back he said I needed to bring it out again to have a friend of his check it out. He thought now it was a computer problem. Did I mention that when he first fixed it he said it was an evap canister that cost $600 + tax just for the part itself. Quite an expensive experiment out of my pocket. After all of this back and forth, gas for me to drive out ,and two days of rental car costs, not to mention me giving up my time off work to deal with this he still did not take ownership, say he was sorry and offer my money back. I finally decided to take it to someone in Vegas and within 5 minutes of them hooking up a piece of equipment they were able to tell me what the real problem with my car was, and it had nothing to do with what Mitch charged me for. When I called Mitch to tell him this he again tried to squirm to make excuses in why he did the work he did. He still said I needed the expensive part, which did not get my check engine light off, and the other mechanic assured me I did not and that Mitch was being shady. Now after all of my time and trouble and now the recognition that Mitch didn't know what he was doing and the fact that I had known him for 15 years you would think he would have done the right thing and offered me my money back and a major apology, but he did not and still just tried to limit the cost to him and wanted to just get my car fixed by someone else that he would contribute to paying for. After 2 months of dealing with this, paying for a part I did not need, and gas and rental cars, and finding a place to stay while in CA and still having a car not fixed I needed my money back. When I told him that I expected $700 back off the $1200 faulty job, not to mention the $60 I spent on a second opinion, the $200 driving back and forth twice, the $85 for rental cars for 2 days he was not willing to give it. Can you believe that? If I had messed up that bad on someones job and they went through all that trouble not only once, but twice would you really insult them by not giving a fair amount of their money back? I just want to warn any of you thinking of going to him for repair work that he is not a good person or business man. He knows he screwed up and even told me that he had the equipment the other guy had who diagnosed the real issue with my car. I said to him, well then why didn't you hook it up to double check your work after you put the new expensive part in and before I drove all the way back to Vegas not only once but twice, and he had no answer. He is incompetent, does not do good work, and is not honest when he messes up. Please avoid any hassle you may have in the future because he will not do the right thing. If he could do this to someone he has known for 15 years imagine how he would treat you in the same situation. read more

Had a good visit. They took me in right away. Found out my TPS was bad and making my transmission jump. Also had a lean condition that I suspected was from oil getting onto MFC sensor from my K&N. Price was reasonable to fix those up. They also suggested a serpentine belt replacement. I agreed thinking they were probably right, but then I looked at my records and it was changed about 30k miles ago. I know these belts can last longer so I think that was premature. I saw the belt and it did have cracks, but they were small. But he charged about $90 for parts and labor and i got piece of mind. I later called a few week later about the key being stuck. I thought I needed to buy a new lock. But on the phone, he just told me to put some graphite on it and if it was still a problem, to let them know. He could have done like other dealers and have me come in and order me a new lock for $100. But he didn't. read more

THE SEARCH HAS ENDED. Having dealt with Longo Toyota for the past 13 years, what a breath of fresh air to find Mitch's Auto. During my last visit to Longo they quoted me a price of $342 to repair a fog light clamp on my 2016 Rav-4. The lamp still worked but was popped inside the bumper. I took it to Mitch's and he quoted me $28! I honestly started to laugh thinking it was a sardonic joke, only to realize he was serious. He repaired it in 10 minutes. Today, I had him put some new brake pads on for a very fair price. I was having issues with my transmission and I called Mitch to get a price estimate. I left a message, and he called me right back within 15 minutes. He gave me a very honest answer, and the lowest price estimate around. However, he indicated that my particular problem was one of the few things that should get done at a dealership.
