    a plate of desserts

Came here on a whim since we just noticed it! I didn't go in, my bf did since we had the dog in the car. I stayed with the dog. He said everything is prepacked and you just point to what you want and then pay. The sweets were really really good and taste just how I remember them from india. The only thing is that I wish they came in smaller quantities. We got 3 containers and it is just a tonnnn of sweets. Otherwise, it's a great spot for Indian sweets!

    Pista barfi, raabri and malpua

Stopped by the place after dinner for dessert. Did not disappoint. I tried the kaju sandesh which was good. BUT THEIR KAJU AND PISTA BARFI. That's ecstacy. The Pista being the clear winner. The happiness my taste buds feel . So obviously try the pista barfi, so the store is vegan so they don't use Ghee in their sweets which a key element for my Indian palate, it adds the oomph factor. It's not bad but the pista barfi does have the oomph factor (yes I'm strongly advocating for it). I did try the raabri and the maalpova, that was good too. Pour some raabri on top of the maalpova, ask for the maalpova to be heated if you are planning to eat at the store. The store is small with 3 tables from what I recollect. I did have an interesting conversation with the owner which was entertaining. GO PISTA BARFI!! - inserting cheerleading -

This is a small Indian sweets store and I went in upon finding about it on Yelp. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how good the desserts were. I hadn't preordered so I was going to buy boxes on display for Diwali. With one vegan in our group, they had an assorted vegan box which included : Boondi laddoo, mothichoor laddoo and kaju kathli. They were really good, especially the mothichoor laddoo. Will definitely be back and get some the next time I'm in Cary side. I also tasted a sampling of their burfis before ordering a box of the pistachio ones and those were heavenly. A good amount of salty pistachios and fudge sweetness. This was wonderful to indulge in. Note : this was not vegan. The pricing was also reasonable. Not terrible, given the quality- about $10 per box I'd ordered. Overall : will definitely go back for indulgent sweets.

Plus their drinks are incredible and the employees are efficient and friendly. Usually at a cafe I prefer either the drinks or the food. Here I can't decide which I like more and they have so many options to pick from. From divine baklava to decadent chocolate tarts and towering cakes paired with flowering teas and matcha lattes. Most recently I had my favorite chocolate tart with a pistachio saffron matcha latte. The latte was definitely the star and the saffron came through even when competing with the other strong flavors. Overall, highly recommend Asali and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Prices were quite high in my opinion and the mousse tarts whole gorgeous, were difficult to eat the tart part. Very hard to cut into. As for the coffee, I was underwhelmed. It was only lukewarm. And, while latte art isn't super important, it was not impressive. The flavor was ok, but with it not being hot it wasn't excellent. I'd give the coffee another try and maybe a different dessert. When I go back I will give an update, but for now, I have to give 3 stars.

I might have to taste their cakes next time like the crepe cakes. The lady who was there is not pushy and knew exactly when she needs to head to the cash to take orders. Great, lofty space...and nicely decorated throughout. Now comes all the disappointments. First of all, I was the one customer when I stopped in around 2:30 pm...and while the place itself was nice, it felt kind of stale. Total silence...no music. I also noticed that they changed things...for the worse. They no longer had on the menu this trio sampler that I had my heart set on. Also, I didn't find their drink menu that appetizing. Also, everything was now served in paper cartons...not actual plates and cups. This is a running pet peeve of mine. Since Covid, many cafes and bakeries have downscaled on cups, plates and utensils...to serve everything in cheap to-go wares. I expect that type of vibe at fast foods, like McDonald's and Taco Bell...not nice cafes and bakeries. I ordered this soupy dessert (forgot the name), along with this Crepe Cake, and this Mango Fruity drink. Truly, each and every item was forgettable. Just not that good. Then the service... dead-pan. The lady at the counter had this rude-cold demeanor, and did not flick even a slight smile even once. So yeah...NOT great all around. Aside from the place being so attractive, the foods, the presentation and the service was far below what you'd expect from a nice cafe-bakery. A huge disappointment.

Living in NC,…read morethere really isn't an abundant amount of boba places to venture to, but it seems like this place is highly recommended by college students and local boba enthusiasts. Being so used to many boba options back in CA, it kind of makes it feel weird to struggle to find a boba place nearby. The location is pretty convenient for college kids or adults to chill with friends. Lots of tables and even a shelf with some board games you could play if you had an hour or two to pass in the area. I can't remember the name of the drink, but I remember it having butterfly pea and lemon... or yuzu. Drink is aesthetically pleasing, but I'm not sure if I tasted what the drink mentioned. Still, nice attempt at being trendy with the boba menu. Maybe they're known for their milk teas here? It was quite busy when we can on a Saturday evening before closing. :) Drinks took around 10 ish minutes to make, but staff were quick to take orders and make drinks. Both drinks are delicious, and bonus points for also offering lactose-free/plant milk! But be warned, they do not offer the plant milk for certain drinks, since some are pre-mixed. The puff pastry is a large portion, and heavier, so you can definitely share. The mochi donut is nice and light, so these are better to get more than one flavor to try.
