It turns out that I did want a knife, I asked the staff, they rooted around a bit, but couldn't find any at first. I keep a small supply of plasticware, napkins, etc in my car so I got a knife from there. In the meantime, the staff did turn up a couple of individually-wrapped plastic knives. I used mine instead and put the knives with the other plasticware for others to use. I ate half of the pizza at the restaurant and I got a takeaway box for the other half of the pizza for dinner.
