3/24/24 Checking it out! Getting lunch! It's a buffet, but you can get what you want, have it weighed and take home. Greeted upon entering. Music playing. Asked for a to-go and a food holder was given. Then you go in and they have a large variety of options to pick. Some didn't look real fresh, but thankfully a lot of it did. Plus, o just didn't get what didn't look fresh. I got a lot of different tasty items to split for lunch. That included a fresh sushi bar area. Lots of options! Even got mini donuts for dinner. Checked out, the worker weighed it, and I paid for it. Good price for all you get! It's clean & safe inside. Music playing. Lunchtime! I set it up to make it easy to split. Try a little bit of everything. My half was really good! Luckily, I got to pick to get the fresh & tasty options. Mother felt the same! Good service & good lunch! Recommended!

Mitsui offers great value for your money, making it one of the most affordable buffets around. The staff is attentive and friendly--once, they forgot my drink but made up for it by giving me an extra one on the house. The place is also family-friendly, especially with its charming little pond. Atmosphere The vibe is dark and dim but in a calm, relaxing way, with soft lighting that highlights the food. Multiple channels are available to watch as you dine, adding to the laid-back experience. Food The seafood selection is solid, especially during the summer when they offer crab legs. The raw oysters are good, and the cooked seafood options--like cheese mussels, seafood boil, scallop noodles, and seafood medley--are satisfying. However, the sushi bar is a bit disappointing, with dry nigiri and mostly California rolls. The noodle bar used to be great with a savory broth, but it's more hit-or-miss now. On the other hand, the pastries are moist and delicious, though the chocolate fountain doesn't harden properly on the fruit. The fruit bar mainly consists of canned options, but it's still decent. Overall Mitsui is a great place to get your money's worth, offering a wide variety of options that make it a good choice for affordable dining.

There's literally four sushi chefs making it constantly so as soon as the plates are empty, they can be refilled. That's basically the same strategy for all of the stations here. As soon as anything started to run out, the staff was refiling it. My kids loved it with my son trying his first raw oyster... he's not a fan, LOL. I'm giving you a four because of Sebastian and his great customer service. We did also speak to the chef on duty to give some feedback on how our experience was. Now to the honest criticism I've been here a few times and each time had some issues. This time around my dad says let's support the business. I'm not sure if business is a little rough right now or not but we definitely do like to support local as much as we can. We started off with 2 appetizers steak bites and mac and cheese. The steak bites were good. The barbecue sauce is not needed. The mac & cheese had good seasoning and flavor, but roux was not done properly cause it did have a grainy texture. We also ordered a bottle of wine to go with dinner. We did wait a while for our food to come out we did all order steaks, medium rare. Unfortunately, they were more medium than mid rare, al of the steak dishes did come with veggies and a baked potato that was fully loaded. I ordered their $22 special that was a steak with shrimp and a baked potato. The steak was well seasoned. I did like the butter that was placed on the top cause it did melt into it. The shrimp was good. They did pair it with a dipping sauce that had a spiciness to it. I tried it. I didn't eat it. I just had the shrimp with lemon. My steak was more medium than mid rare, but it was juicy full of flavor. I did finish it. I didn't have a chance to eat the baked potato because there was a lot of food on my plate. My daughter wanted her steak, medium rare, and she was disappointed because it was medium. She does like to have her steak looking bloody. I felt that the proportions on each dish was enough each plate average $40. The mac & cheese was $18 and so was the steak bites. Our bill did come out to $260 for four people to eat. That's including four dishes, two appetizers, a bottle of wine and one soda. A few things I do want to add they need to add some kind of tint to the windows because they're in direct sunlight that feeds into the dining area. We all know, Fresno is pretty hot during the summertime so we definitely need to make sure the air is running and there's some kind of shade to prevent the sun from hitting you directly in the face.

Since there was only one server for all the tables and pick ups, it took awhile to get our food. We had plain Roti (1 per order), Butter Naan (4 per order), Shahi Paneer, and Paneer Tikki Masala. Again both of the dishes were flavorful and creamy and had a kick of spiciness. Unlike other Indian places I've been to they do not ask you what level of spice you would like. There was multiple laminated menus on the table. Looked like each table seated 6, each with a grill and overhead exhaust vent. I could not hear any exhaust vent fans. Noise level was normal for a restaurant this size and a conversation could easily be had with other people at the table. With 2 people, able to order 3 meats at a time. Meats are brought out promptly and soda was refilled frequently. The grill tops were replaced frequently during the meal. The bad. It gets SMOKEY!!!! Not sure what's wrong with their exhaust, but it does not seem to work very well. The floor gets greasy slippery (I was wearing non stick shoes and was able to easily slide on the floor). The overhead exhaust fan... grease constantly dripped from the vent on the grill. They are obviously were not cleaned before that dinner service... we left smelling like we had sat in a bbq smoker. Because of that I would not recommend wearing nice clothes to this place unless you want them to smell like bbq for the next while. The bulguli was amazing!! I would skip on the ny steak. The chicken was surprisingly good. If you have never cooked seafood on a grill like that, you may want to skip the squid and octopus. The pork belly was basically thin sliced bacon. If I returned, I would stick with beef bulguli, spicy pork bulguli, and brisket or spicy bbq chicken. The spicy was not that spicy. Maybe a 2 out of 10. Like jalapeño spicy. The food and service was excellent. The smoke... this makes me rethinking on returning...

I went during peak hours on a busy day, and seeing the place packed actually made me feel a bit more secure. I figured with that many customers, the kitchen and salad bar would naturally stay fresher since the food is constantly being cycled out. While I still think any establishment should keep things up to par regardless of how slow it is, the difference in freshness this time was really noticeable compared to my first visit when it was dead. The service was great, which is a big win for me because even in my last review, I mentioned the service was the one thing they got right. I'm really glad to see that's still super consistent here. As for the food, they had a lot of "trendy" meats that I've been hearing about. I think it's a cut that's been all over TikTok the Picanha cut? I might be wrong on the name, but I'd heard people talking about it and it was super good and very tender. The biggest improvement, though, was the consistency. I'm glad I was actually able to enjoy the meal this time!
