Fantastic Asian supermarket on the second floor of the international marketplace. They have Ramen and Wagyu and everything that you might want from an Asian market. Both fresh to take home and cook as well as pre-cooked and to eat there as a meal. We wanted something quick and healthy after our intense morning of hiking and we bought this sushi box to share which had a really great selection of sushi for just under $25

Japanese market located in International Market place. Decent selection ton of freshly prepared foods, a few food vendors & a small section for quick dining. Aisles are small but they packs. Punch with the options. Found a few items here that I don't normally see another Japanese markets. Prices are comparable to others. Clean store. Friendly service. Bags cost $0.65 vs the norm of $0.15 that I'm used to at other locations.

Mitsuwa is a MUST! We don't have a Mitsuwa Marketplace in Atlanta so I of course made sure to stop by while exploring the International Marketplace in Waikiki. It's a bit smaller than I imagined it would be but it has the essentials. I was more interested in the prepared foods (aka the sandos, bentos and sushi) than the grocery section but it was still nice to see the selection of Japanese snacks and such. I loved the egg sandwich that i picked up for a quick and easy lunch. There is also a small food court in the back that now houses a small (but well known) Go Go Curry that used to be a Modo mochi donut shop when I visited in 2022. I loved Modo so it's sad to see they didn't make it - hope Go Go Curry does better - it seemed very busy when we were shopping. If you need Japanese snacks and goods quick, Mitsuwa would be your best bet!

SELECTION -- Surprisingly carries many Japanese and Korean cosmetic brands that are popular on Tiktok (rom&nd, KISSME HEROINE, Peripera, etc). There's at least one aisle that's dedicated to cosmetics (makeup and skincare). I was kind of expecting more from this shop. I wish they had a bigger tea selection. SERVICE -- They offer a small discount when you show them a Hawaii state ID. Cashiers are friendly and efficient. AMBIANCE -- I find that the shop is very grey in hues. It feels a bit dull tbh.

Wonderful place for a quick meals . The seating area is nicely decorated with AC . Ramen Taiga and Go!Go ! CURRY are inside plus a Omusubi shop for many different kinds of food . Mitsuwa market has its own cooked food like grilled mackerel fish , sushi & sashimi, boiled octopus, oyster roll , salmon , octopus salad , sandwiches, desserts . There is a microwave inside the food court . You can heat up the food if you like . All the food items are very fresh , delicious and prices are very reasonable compared to other places . Highly recommended!

A cute, clean, and spacious market in International Marketplace. Mitsuwa is located at the top level in the corner near Magnolia. The market has some food stands inside like a curry spot, along with more grab-and-go items. There are also other items inside, such as toys. There is a section of toys called a Gashapon Stand. The food items looked good but they did seem a bit pricey. We ended up getting a musubi from a stand inside the marketplace that seemed to make them there. We got the mentaiko musubi, which ended up being about $5. This seemed like a bit much, but it was a good musubi. The rice was good, and the flavor was as well. The woman working was very sweet and waited for us to decide. While it was a bit pricey for me and International Marketplace can be as well, it was a nice market.

Located at the International Market Place, this Mitsuwa takes up 1 floor and is pretty small. The items are well-organized, but they are definitely limited in their selections - their snack area as well as their stationery corner is seriously lacking. Their food court in the back seems to be a popular spot to pick up items to go, such as their onigiri. The line at the cashier moves pretty quickly and efficiently. +limited selections +efficient checkout line +located at the International Market Place

The Mitsuwa Marketplace is a must visit when staying in the Waikiki, Honolulu area. We always find some international treats or beverages at this Japanese grocery store. Plenty of grocery items from nonfood items to food, frozen items and a good variety of beverages (alcoholic as well). Pleasant staff and always clean and welcoming. Sushi and deli options available inside, like their egg, tuna and cabbage sandwiches, BBW beef bowl with rice and yellowtail/salmon sashimi. Tip: Online delivery is now available using Instacart. Can't wait to visit again on our next trip to Hawaii!

It was okay, pretty small place compared to other Mitsuwa that ive been at. Didn't have that many options

I swung by almost daily after cat cafe to pick up refreshments and small bites. I dined in at the food court once, and the food we chose was tasty. There wasn't a lot of interaction with hr staff, so I can't comment on the service. They also sell some sweets from Kulu in case you're a fan of that place which i happen to be. Also make sure to return the wooden box to the vendor after you eat!

In the upper floor of the International Market Place we stumbled upon Mistuwa, a Japanese grocery store with delicious bento boxes! After paying we were able to heat up our food in the microwave. There was some seating outdoors where we decided to eat instead of taking back to the hotel. We tried a variety of sushi, salmon, and fried oysters. These were all fresh and tasty but the fried oysters were the highlight for me! Incredibly yummy food at great value. Would highly recommend a visit during your trip!

Are the mochi donuts gluten-free? I know some contain cake flour or wheat flour in addition to the sweet rice flour. Are these made only with rice flour?

They are not gluten free. I have Celiac and asked the woman working the counter on 3/6/2022 and she said that it is a mixture of rice and wheat flours in their mochi donuts.

I've been to Mitch's a few times and when I saw that they opened up an Izakaya next door, I knew I had to try it and made a reservation on Yelp. Izakaya Mitch's specializes more in cooked dishes while the other side is more about the fresh / raw fish. But that didn't stop us from ordering the assorted sashimi. All the fish were from Japan and yes you can taste the difference. The fatty tuna was obviously my favorite but even the regular tuna and the hamachi was so buttery, it just melts in your mouth. Plus, it comes with real wasabi. Not horseradish, real wasabi. For the cooked dishes we got the hokkaido crab tempura with a side of matcha salt. One of the best tempuras I've ever had. The kamameshi, a rice dish with their fish of the day. We got the half order and it's kinda like a bibimbap where they mix the rice for you at your table. I saw that people were raving about this on Yelp and put in our order right when we got in because it takes 25-ish minutes to prepare. On special, they had a karei karaage. Karei is a flat fish and I've never had a fish karaage before, it was perfectly fried and dipped in the ponzu sauce it was so good. Ambiance is a no-frills kinda spot but very clean and feels homey and the service is amazing! Attentive and super personable.

The tai karaage was so tender and seasoned really well, the kamameshi is such a comfort dish, and the burrata with chilled tomato was really refreshing. One thing we all liked was that even though there were a lot of people in the restaurant (most came in after we ordered), we still were able to speak to one another without talking loud. The staff mentioned that they will be getting a sushi chef, so I guess we need to try this place again,

Not only that, but I have to bring my significant other along to share in the deliciousness! I don't know how I'm just now talking about Marugame Udon. When I first came here, my friend and I decided to give it a try because we saw the longest line and wanted to see what all the hype was about. There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can. This place is totally worth the 45-minute commute from Wahiawa.

This place has been a staple for my family ever since we moved back to O'ahu a few years ago. Bottom line? The soba noodles here are utterly fantastic. They are, in my humble opinion, the best on the island, and some of the best soba noodles I've ever had. I don't think anywhere else in Honolulu comes close. You come here to eat soba. Period. In addition to the soba being phenomenal, the other offerings at i-naba are also similarly great. Their tempura in particular is outstanding. I typically order the Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Bowl & Soba or the Dx Tempura Bowl & Soba. Plus an upgrade to a large size soba! The tempura is sooo good. It's crispy, light, and airy. The jumbo shrimp is especially succulent and tender. And the ingredients are always perfectly seasoned with the sweet and savory house sauce. Yummmy! We sat towards the back near the bar and bathroom, which was nice because it was very cozy and private. The restaurant space isn't too large, but just cozy enough that it isn't overwhelming. Since it was my first time, our server took the time to explain the menu to us. They are also celebrating their upcoming second anniversary, so they have a special menu for the occasion. After hearing some recommendations, we decided to order: Enoki Beef Rolls, Crispy Wonton, Garlic Shrimp, Mushroom Jook, and Crispy Pork Belly. For drinks, I ordered the Haku (non-alcoholic), and my friend ordered the "little cocktail" Tiny Victories. I loved my drink! I tried my friend's cocktail, which I would describe as tiny but mighty! All of the food was very tasty, but my favorites include the crispy wonton and mushroom jook. The wonton tasted like oxtail soup wrapped in a fried wonton, just as the server described. The mushroom jook was the most flavorful jook I've ever tasted. It was jam-packed with umami flavors, and the ginger flavor was heavily present. I found the dishes to be on the smaller portion size, which is why we ordered many items. They were all shareable, so you can taste a little of everything. For dessert, we decided to share the mochi churros. These were so good! Perfectly fried churros with mochi flour that added a chewy middle, then dipped in the kinako dipping sauce. They added a candle in a beautiful dish for my birthday. Very thoughtful! Throughout our evening, we had several different servers help us - either pour more water in our glasses, take our dishes away, or serve our dishes with a detailed description. All of the staff were very knowledgeable about EVERY dish on the menu. It felt like a family in how everyone took care of us and stepped in when they saw we needed something. I haven't had this type of service at a restaurant in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it was excellent service and delicious food! All the staff were very friendly from the minute we sat down until the very end of the night (three hours later!), when one of the chefs waved goodbye to us. What started as a good meal became an exceptional experience thanks to the incredible staff! I will definitely return with my family! Happy Eating!
