This place is small but amazingly, we were seated right away. They have a pretty nice bar area and a good number of TVs for sports. They were busy, so things went a little slow, but the food made up for it. The vodka sauce on my chicken parm sandwich and K's pasta was excellent. Very good. My bestie Zack met me after my work shift in minus 11 degree weather and we were freezing. We stumbled into Giovani's and were honestly so pleasantly surprised. This place has everything you want after a long day. Great pizza, strong drinks, amazing food, sports on screen, and a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. We grabbed seats at the bar and were greeted by Nia, a beautiful young lady who was incredibly attentive and moved behind the bar like a total pro. Service like that sets the tone right away. We started with Ketel One dirty martinis and ordered the hummus with fried onions and mushrooms. It was made fresh and it was hands down the best hummus I have ever had. The pita bread was perfectly done too. We wanted to sample more so we went for the vodka margarita pizza and the vodka penne with sausage. Yes there was a lot of vodka involved in our night Everything was absolutely delicious. Every bite hit. The employees were friendly and genuinely seemed happy to work there, which always makes a difference. The food was impeccable, the vibe was warm and upbeat, and the location right in the heart of Center City makes it perfect for after work drinks and dinner. Giovannis's or lovingly known as Gio's is easily one of my favorites in the city. They don't get nearly enough hype as they deserve. This large space has about 20 first come first serve tables and a large standard bar. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. About 9 bucks for a surfside! The food is where things get exciting. They have a HUGE menu with a variety of food. Their Italian is where the magic happens. Their slices are never a miss and come out in just a few minutes. Ranging from your standard chicken bacon ranch to the best vodka marg slice you'll ever have. Definitely grab an order of garlic knots, while they aren't anything to phone home about, they are crazy cheap and a great side. Their entrees are even better. The penne vodka is my favorite followed up by their cheesesteak wrap. Let's not forget about their massive Caesar salad with a chicken cutlet. My family and I were visiting and were looking for a close nearby restaurant that served a good philly cheesecake. When we first arrived we were able to get seated by one of the many, many, staff. However once sat, it took nearly 20 minutes and asking a different staff member whom was working at the bar, "Do we need to order at the bar? How do we order". Which he was as helpful as a bartender can be. We waited another 5-10 minutes before seeing the waitress that had originally sat us. She asked us if we were okay and we were honest "No, we've been waiting to be serviced for awhile". She was kind and respectful however, it was our initial experience which tainted the rest of the dining experience. The philly cheese steak came out good, the burger less so, and the wings were described by a family member as "anemic chicken" and only two were consumed, and the garlic knots were stale. I would suggest only coming if looking for a good beer and cheesesteak. But the service is horrible. read more

Only downside is that certain items, like the pizza are available only until they run out. So whatever is on display at the end of the night is all they have. Great experience downtown! Came in last friday night and even met the owners - super friendly. We were probably the oldest people there, but it didn't matter - everyone was so nice. Chicken pharm was the best i've ever had! The salad (shared with my wife) was excellent - with all fresh vegetables and amazing garlic knots! Great beer too! I usually go to Giovanis for pizza or a meal, but I wasn't too hungry today and went for a side Caesar salad. I brought it home to eat it later and the croutons were absolutely crispy. The romaine was also fresh and crisp. It had Parmesan cheese and the dressing was absolutely delicious. Believe it or not. The slice here passes my test for a New York slice. Being from nyc, I've been on the hunt for a comparable slice in philly. This place is pretty good in my opinion but doesn't give nyc slice 100% but still is pretty decent. I would come back here for another slice. I also had their garlic knots which comes with a marinara sauce on the side. Knots were good! Pro tip: add Parmesan, onion powder, and oregano into the marinara and give it a good shake, and you'll take the sauce to the next level. Price is decent as well - I paid around $9 total for 1 cheese slice, 1 spinach slice, and 3 garlic knots. Inside has ample seating and the back is a bar. Service is also good too, I ordered at the counter and they brought my food to my table! read more

The security guard at the door was friendly and helped us find a seat in the back where the scooter would be out of the way. The server was super friendly, and he did hover or rush us (John). The cheesesteak eggrolls were delicious and crispy. The pizza cheesesteak was also delicious! The MJ punch was excellent and strong without being too sweet. The five-dollar (Statewide) special with a beer and a shot is a pretty decent deal. They played great music, and it was not too loud. This place got busy pretty quickly and they continued to keep slinging out drinks. We did not order pizza but the pies coming out to other guests looked/smelled great. The Buffalo wings also looked very good too. I got the Buffalo chicken cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms. The chicken had good flavor and the Buffalo sauce did not overpower it. I added ranch over bleu cheese but that's just my preference. The old bay seasoned Cajun fries were crispy and well worth it. The Chicken Alfredo was solid and comes in a large portion(see picture below). The sauce paired very well with the garlic knots so make sure you ask for some extra on the side. I'd walked by this place a million times but on a cold rainy day when I had a strong garlic knot/pizza craving I called up Giovanni's and placed a delivery order! The person on the phone who took my order was awesome - it was such a quick and easy process. About 30 min later I greeted the delivery person. I was so intrigued by their vodka ravioli pizza but scared to get an entire pizza, so I ordered a slice of plain cheese and the vodka ravioli and created the vodka ravioli pizza myself. AMAZING! (I would definitely order the entire pizza next time). The ravioli and vodka sauce was amazing, and I also got a Greek salad (delicious!) and the garlic knots were abundant - delicious with marinara and the vodka sauce.
