Another amazing find for 2024, my only regret is that I don't live closer! This casual and small restaurant offers over 40 different items, and it was so hard for me to choose what I wanted. Thankfully, the owner was helpful, giving us a rundown of the top items and making great suggestions. They even offer gluten-free mac, which gets an A+ in my book. I went with the pesto mac, and it was absolutely incredible--you can't beat the price for the portion size. I got three meals out of it! Our small group's order took about 10-15 minutes, but since we were the only customers at the time, it wasn't an issue. Everyone was happy with their food. If you're in the area or just passing by, Mix N Mac is an absolute must!

OMG, we love this place! Small & cute restaurant doing mostly carryout food (either hot & ready or for heating at home later!). Dozens of specialty flavors of mac & cheese, some other cool apps, cool variety of bottled and canned drinks already chilled. Service fast & with a smile. A real hole in the wall, we would never have noticed this restaurant (as visitors from out of town) if it weren't for Yelp. So glad we searched around for good local food--this place is a casual food gem. We ordered one chicken marsala and one spinach & artichoke and pulled several teas from the fridge to take back to our hotel. We happily accepted the crunchy breadcrumb topping as the order was completed. Each mac & cheese was neatly packaged in a foil container in case it needed reheating later. No reheating was necessary--our mac & cheese was still perfectly hot & gooey! We loved both. I don't know when we'll return to the area, but I'm already looking forward to getting something new at Mix N Mac!

I love the variety at Mix N Mac. My favorite is definitely the classic American Mac. This visit I had gotten the buffalo chicken Mac. It was delicious and I asked for extra cheese sauce. Gorgonzola cheese is not really my thing so next time so will ask for it without. I still ate it all even though I wasn't a fan of the cheese. Staff are always friendly and the food is cooked perfectly. I also got the Garlic "Nots" and they were so tasty. I always get extra Mac sauce on the side for dipping.

I absolutely love this place! The things they come up with for their mac & cheese are insane. I tried the chicken & waffles mac and it was an incredible mix of sweet & savory. Their balls are also out of this world. Be sure to check out their specials posted up and if this is your first time (like it was mine), ask for help! Everyone is super nice and helpful. They were able to help me decide which one to start with for the first Mix & Mac experience. Seating is a little limited but if you have a small group & it isn't so busy, you'll be fine! Everything is served pretty quickly too so most people are in & out in a jiffy. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other kinds of mac!

OMG ! THIS PLACE IS SOO GOOOD! The entire store is basically MAC n CHEESE GALORE, they do offer salads, one dessert (smores churro's), and mac balls (which are basically fried mac n cheese, that they can smother with sauces) Food: VARIETY, VARIETY, VARIETY. I honestly wished I looked at the menu before hand, because when I went into the store I had no clue what I wanted! They have a set menu (mac n cheese combos that are always available) and a specials menu. For example some of the combos they are chicken parmesan, to shrimp alfredo, to chicken n waffles, to mango habanero. They make these all fresh when you make the order. I had ordered the mango habanero, and added pulled pork to it. THIS was DELICIOUS! Not as spicy as they claimed but still had a lil kick to it. My ONLY complaint would/will be is that I wish my mac n cheese was baked a little bit more, it tasted very cheese saucy and the sauce didn't seem baked into the pasta as much, but the cheese pull is picture worthy! Service: Was great, the guy at the cash register was super helpful and made good suggestions as to what I should get based off of what I like.. Overall, this place will definitely see my again. Cant wait to go back and try a different combination.

i love the mac and cheese here but please get better employees. the girl at the counter: name on ticket was Hall, was incredibly rude and refused to give me a discount that i had earned (10% off, like seriously you're going to make it an issue to not give me $1 off my mac balls?) after i ordered she and her coworker (a larger sized blonde girl) were pointing and looking at me in the back the whole time i ate. will be looking elsewhere before coming here again only due to the service up front. however, management was helpful when i let them know about this incident and was prompt in their response. thank you for that. read more

The fried mac n cheese balls are a great snack with a nice, tangy sauce (ask for extra as it's crucial to the flavor profile). The actual mac and cheese is interesting to experiment with the various flavors but won't replace any good family recipes anytime soon. read more

Food lacked flavor with limited seating. Too similar and a rip off of the already established s'mac restaurant in east village and first ave. I just figured if you were going to do a repeat of a restaurant they would have some nice recipe's and food, but I was extremely disappointed. Food sucked and idea unoriginal leads to a bad score and a non returning customer. P.S.I don't know what these other people are on because stouffers mac n cheese tastes better than this. So if you want to a better tasting mac and cheese with a better price just pick up some at the grocery store and mix what ever you want in it you'll save more money that way. I wish they had refunds for crap food.:( read more

Best place in n Orange County for mac & cheese. Whenever we are in Middletown this is our "go to" place. Everything is always delicious and we have never had anything off the menu that we have not enjoyed. Great good, friendly staff and always worth the 30 minute drive! read more

I tried this place out yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It's a relatively new addition to the area and I must say, a very welcome and unique one. We ordered the fried mac & cheese to start. It was fantastic: wonderfully cheesy, tasty and crunchy. The tomato cream sauce it comes with was a great compliment to the fried mac & cheese but it's not absolutely necessary--it stands up just great on its own. I decided to create my own mac n' cheese combination with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, broccoli and parmesan. It was just the right amount of flavor and gooeyness--the ingredients went really well together and it was the perfect comfort food for a Saturday afternoon. It comes with breadcrumbs on top (I think all the combinations do?) which added to the crunch factor, but next time I think I might ask for them on the side so I can add (or not add) them myself. I didn't realize til we got home that they have dessert options, so next time I'll definitely save room for that. I can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu. I hope this place sticks around! read more

Love the mac and cheese! The only thing that makes me not want to come back is the countdown to Obama leaving office counter. I know that will make some people really happy, however, you will lose people as well. Businesses should know better than to offend people with personal feelings about politics, that is business 101. read more

Just happened to see a coupon for this place in the local Clipper magazine, and contacted a friend about it who confirmed just how good it is (surprised I hadn't heard about it by now, as it's been open well over a year). Took another friend from out of town to Mix N Mac over the weekend, and we both really enjoyed it. I HUGE variety of different mac n cheese recipes, plus a 'mix & make your own' selection, all reasonably priced and served in large portions. You can even take any of the recipes and have them make a 'melt' for you, which is basically the cheese and the rest of the ingredients (sans the pasta) in a grilled cheese format-I had this with the shrimp scampi...quite tasty, and comes with a tomato cream dipping sauce. My friend had the Cuban mac n cheese special, which was loaded with raost pork, ham, different kinds of cheeses, and a touch of mustard. Yes, it tasted like a Cuban sandwich, only it was mac n cheese! We also had some bacon cheesy balls (little mac n cheese balls with bacon, breaded and deep friend) which were delicious. It's a lot of food, and not on the light side, but for something off the beaten path and quite tasty, it was $25 well spent and I'll be back for sure. read more

Went with my family, 5 people, spent $60. Way too much cheese on top, but good overall flavor. Would recommend the spinach/artichoke. But also had the regular "American" mac and cheese with bacon and it was awful. Think something was "off". Staff offered to make a new one and were very pleasant but we didn't want to take our chances. read more

Definitely get the Mac and cheese balls. They're so delicious. You also have the choice of mixing them up. I highly recommend the bacon and cheese balls. They are so tasty and full of flavor. The cranberry balls were alright. I wish there were more cranberry taste to it because the tomato sauce and cheese overpowered the berry taste. If they used a cranberry flavored cheese, it would be perfect. read more

Great Mac and cheese varieties. 15 or so different kinds plus specials and pick your own. Mexi is a favorite. Spicy but not too much. Kids love it too as expected. Plan to wait about 10 minutes while it bakes. Enjoy! read more

My wife and I were up in Middletown visiting friends the other day and we were drawn to Mix n Mac partly due to unique name and us being fiends for some mac and cheese . We were both blown away by the experience . I had the pepperoni mac balls and buffalo mac and cheese plate, my wife had the veggie mac and cheese plate. Needless to say we were very happy with our choice. We recommended our friends to go to Mix n Mac and they loved it too! The aura in Mix n Mac is warm and laid back. We will be visiting our friends again very soon, because we want more Mix n Mac! I hope the owners open a Mix n Mac in Westchester County. read more

The Mac N' Cheese is really tasty, and the options are great and everything tastes freshly made. The price is quite expensive for take out Mac N' Cheese which is the reason for the 3-star rating. Expect to pay $50+ to feed a family of five. read more

MIx N Mac. I just moved here from NJ. And was Looking for. Something to eat. I went to Mix N Mac. IT was the Best place to get your Mac N Cheese. I had Mexican and I bought Slope Jose. Can't. Amazing food for the price. I've had the Chipotle Chicken meal numerous times (as both a mac and a melt), and I'll order it again the next time I go. The staff is always friendly, the place is always at a nice temperature, and there is always some good music playing. This will most likely be the best mac and cheese you've ever eaten! read more

The food blew me away! I ordered shrimp scampi m&c and it was fabulous - creamy, cheesy, tasty, lots of shrimp and whole wheat pasta (much prefer that to white flour). Pleased to see gluten-free available for those who require it. My daughter ordered the bacon ranch and it was also great. Went during a quiet time (1:30pm Tues. afternoon) and had fun chatting with the friendly owners and their son. The decor leaves a bit to be desired, but hey - this isn't fine dining, it's mac and cheese! Can't wait to go back. read more

Great Mac, but the salads leave much to be desired for the price. They also have a tendency to screw up orders when they get busy. Stick with the Mac and your good! read more

Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. My wife's entrée took about 45 minutes to arrive. Mine came out an additional 35 minutes after that, which was surprising given how empty the restaurant was. When my dish finally arrived, the chicken was overcooked on the outside but pink on the inside, making it inedible. I pushed it aside and waited for our waitress to come back so I could show her. She was apologetic and removed the dish from the bill, and she did offer to bring something else, but at that point I declined. The manager also came over to apologize. With the open-kitchen concept, I realized she was the one who prepared the dish, which made the situation even more disappointing. Overall, between the extremely long wait times and the improperly cooked food, this experience missed the mark. While the staff handled the situation politely, it wasn't enough to make up for the issues. Unfortunately, we won't be revisiting.

The waffle with that pearl sugar is the way a waffle should be made but then they have that waffle filled with Dutch caramel and that mascarpone on top is perfect. The tang, sweetness, butteriness, the crisp yet fluffy waffle it all was an equation for an amazing breakfast item. I could eat that every time I go. Truly amazing. The staff in Oak & Reed is always amazing attentive and kind. Live the open kitchen concept. Especially with my two year old currently in a Ratatouille kick so she wanted to see the chefs while she looked for Remy cooking. All in all Oak & Reed never disappoints.

The place has kept the 'dive' vibe alive, but it's quite safe to visit now. And the food is quite good! One buddy (who always gets a reuben) tried the ribeye sandwich and was very impressed - though we called it the reubeye. I had the hard pressed Cuban and it was wonderful. And the fried pickles are cut lengthwise, so you get a better experience than slices - they're called 'frickles'. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Now the Drinks. I truly don't know how I feel! My friend and I both ordered drinks. She ordered the Pom-Amore which is supposed to have fresh pomegranates in it and an edible flower as a garnish per the description. It had neither! She did have cranberries in it, maybe they ran out? I personally don't like that, they should have informed her they didn't have the right garnishes what if she was allergic? I had the cranberry limoncello which was supposed to have cranberries in it and it had none, hilarious I know! On top of that my glass was dirty had something caked on the inside the glass (like my straw wouldn't move it off) so they had to remake it. But it did taste very good. Lastly the food- My friend ordered the burger she said it was very greasy, I didn't try it so I'm not sure. She had the hand cut fries with it and I did try them and they were delicious! The portion of the burger and fries was huge! I got the avocado egg rolls and the Sweet Thai Wings. I wanted to hate the egg rolls because when they came out it's literally just like avocado inside, which is my own fault I assumed it was going to be more like a southwestern egg roll. However, they were delicious! It came with this spicy sauce that was so good. The only down side is that they left the avocado pit inside one of my egg rolls- I took a picture- which wasn't pleasant to bite down on. I also ordered the wings. They were good. The sweet Thai chili did not taste like Thai chili rather more like a buffalo wing so much so that I wondered if they brought out the wrong wings. I will say I got a bit of an ick because I found feathers on the wings. These are fresh butchered wings so it's understandable but also not my favorite thing to have happened. To note: I think it would have been nice because of the dirty glass for them to have offered a free dessert or something (especially since both our drinks were made wrong but to be honest we didn't tell them that they were) but that's just my personally thought for excellent customer service. Again, the waitress was extremely nice so of course I still tipped 20%!

The service was fine, but very quiet and a bit dull. The waiter didn't have much energy, almost like he was tired or not very engaged. The place itself also lacked atmosphere. The typical slow Mexican music was playing, nothing lively, and the restaurant just felt empty and without much energy. In the end, the food was good and the service was okay, but the overall vibe felt flat. It's the kind of place you're glad you tried once, but it doesn't really make you excited to come back.

I wish I could rate this 0 but it made me choose at least 1 star. -The menu was a bit confusing and overpriced. -we waited for 30 minutes for our appetizer fried Mac balls. -when our dinners were finally done, they forgot one of our dishes, they claimed they ''lost'' the order ticket. -waited another 30 minutes for ELBOW MACARONI AND CHEESE, and when it was ready, they had poured hot sauce all over the top of it and hot sauce was not listed on the menu as one of the ingredients. -when we politely asked for him to fix it (mind you we had been there for an hour at this point), he said ''do you just want your money back then?" I asked him to make a new one. After that he slammed his cooking utensils on the counter, he never apologized for any of the screw ups or the wait times. - I also want to add that the place was full and NOT ONE of the customers looked happy. They were all waiting a long time too. Another couple complained about wait times and order accuracy and in return the employee was rude to the couple and never apologized. Absolutely horrible customer service. Pricey for mediocre food at best. I do not reccomend this place to anyone, and I will never return! read more

I recently made a trip home to NY to visit my family and my brother said i had to try this place. We ordered several Mix and Mac combinations and i was a bit hesitant as i am a foodie as is my brother. i thought - really chicken parmesan mace and cheese? But let me tell you it tasted just like chicken parm!! So we ordered five different ones and OMG it was to die for. Now here is some background - I live in California - and i am an avid cook - i make monthly company lunches for my office of Techies here in Silicon valley - and make everything from Smoked meats to BBQ items, Italian and Mexican entrees. My office looks forward to my Mac & Cheese recipe. But Wow what a fabulous idea and executions. Kudos to Jason !! Before i left NY to come back to California i purchased four Mix & Mac entrees to bring home. They traveled 3000 miles to California where i shared a sampling with my office the next day. My son in law recommended this place to me, and I have to agree with him that it is delicious. I think that they have a location across the river now but I have not yet been there. Their menu is extensive and they even offer gluten free if you can't eat gluten (gimme all the gluten!). I have even ordered a tray of macaroni and cheese for a family gathering and they asked if I wanted it heated up or if I wanted to do that later. It's a pretty good deal plus the tray is very generously sized (seriously - bring this to a party and you will be loved!). Their mac balls are also good but I don't personally care for the one with cranberry. Buffalo Chicken is good as is the Spinach and Artichoke. But honestly, you can't go wrong. Many of the varieties are also available in smaller containers. The nice thing is that everything reheats well because I usually can't finish one. read more

The food here is amazing. I am sure it is not the healthiest, but it is great as a treat. The best mac & cheese I have ever had and you must try the mac balls! I love all the different options to mix into your mac. They also have child sizes, vegetarian, and even gluten free. The wait here is never long and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I signed up for the rewards and get coupons all the time. The atmosphere here is somewhat fast food. I don't recommend sitting by the door in winter. Great spot for college students. Despite the pictures people post on yelp, the place is actually very congested. I thought it was much bigger. When there is a lot of people in here it's hard to walk and find a place to sit. The macaroni is great, however, and so are the people that work there! Be prepared to wait, however, as people will call ahead to order and if you are a walk in you will be waiting a bit.
