Realized I haven't review this spot that my bf & I frequent when wanting a solid burger at a reasonable price. He's an LA boy and finds this comparable to In-N-Out. We have tried the classic & the bbq and love both. Their patties are a thin smashburger style, I tend to go with the classic because I enjoy their comeback sauce. I can't go without getting fries (seasoned perfectly) & a coke! Service is always friendly & speedy. The ambiance is a throwback diner style with seating upfront near the kitchen on swivel chairs (great for solo dining) or tables for four throughout. There are some outdoor picnic tables for those who want to eat outside. Parking is a bit congested as it's in a shared plaza off Thompson Lane, but I never have an issue getting a spot. Freaking bomb. Better than Shake Shack, better than In-n-out... I'm not sure if these classify as smash burgers but they do have that texture in the bun which is incredibly soft and warm and in the beef patty which is flat and super juicy and flavor-packed. And the fries are perfect too, they're thin, crispy but kinda limp at the same time which is a hell yes for me, and well-seasoned. SO FREAKING YUM. Hugh baby's has been on my list for a while now and I finally got the chance to try this legendary staple in Nashville. I guess maybe I had higher hopes, don't get me wrong Hugh baby's was a very good spot but wish they gave me more to grasp here. The fries were just terrible, crumbs basically at the bottom of the bag. Not a full fry and just stale unflavored fries. But the burger absolutely shined. Burger was great, but unfortunately that's all they have. Not much else to it, very good smash west style burger. Small burger as well. I love Hugh-Baby's! It's my favorite burger and fries in town. The prices are decent, the taste is delicious and they are fast and friendly. Make sure to try an Arnold Palmer, their lemonade is house made and delicious, it's behind the counter so you might forget it's there, but it is. Also they have the best crunchy ice for their drinks, similar to Sonic's, but with actual good food to back go with your drink. Again ... cold fries! Like what the heck! If you go here check your fries. I got there around 7:30 and ordered a burger and fries tonight and a drink and once again cold! There's no reason for this. The burger was freshly made as always. So don't leave without checking and they were chewy which made it worse. Also if you order a shake...if you do t like whip cream EXPECT them NOT to fill your cup. So they penalize those that don't like whip cream. The dumb reason the manager gave me was they fill it to the top of where the "pigs" hat is! I was a bit disappointed when the food, my wife ordered a single burger and fries with a milkshake, I got a hotdog. The burger was dry, and the fries were old, my wife took the fries back and they were replaced in a couple minutes, the hotdog was a small regular sized, so I was surprised at that for the price. The look of the place is reminiscent of an old style diner. The service was good, counter service, you pick up when your food is ready. I just don't think we'll be going back. Solid burger place with well-seasoned fries. The strawberry milkshake had a sort of artificial taste to it. I would compare their burgers to Five Guys on taste. Stopped in for a burger, fries and shake. 1st time here. Ordered it and it came pretty fast to watch them get the food ready, they were busy. I sat at the counter which was pretty cool. The cheeseburger was delicious, the fries had nice taste to them as well. The shake was great. So I finished eating at the counter, while I was there I was watching the fella who took my order and money helping out on the line getting food ready when there wasn't a customer ordering, he had gloves on. I saw another customer come in, wondering if he was going to use the same gloves that he used for the food. Much to my delight he took off the gloves and put new gloves on to take the order. I just got off a plane when I read a text from my husband. He wanted me to stop at a car dealership on my way home and test drive a car he saw online. Ever the sweet wife, I took a detour and headed to the dealership. As I finished the drive, I asked my salesman where I could get a quick burger that wasn't a fast food place. This dude looked like he has had a few burgers in his lifetime so when he said go to Hugh-Babies, I listened. Hugh-babies is what is fast-casual. Not a fast food place but somewhere where you get your food fast. And fast it was - I had my burger, fries and milkshake in about 5 minutes. I still had a 100 mile drive home and wanted to get in the road so I got my order to go and ate in the car. I opted for something not too messy and ordered the cheeseburger. The large, juicy patty's came topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and comeback sauce. Not sure what was in the comeback sauce but I'll definitely come back for it. My shoestring fries were burn your tongue hot and just the right amount of crispy. The chocolate shake? Let's just say I should have ordered the large. In addition to burgers, the menu also offered a selection of bbq sandwiches and hot dogs. There was plenty of seating both at tables and at a counter overlooking the grill. I visited Hugh Baby's today around noon on a Saturday, no line. I waited less than ten minutes for my order. It was my first time there so got the basics. I ordered a double cheeseburger with ketchup,mustard,mayo a fry and a chocolate milkshake. The fry was the size of small McDonald's fry but seasoned well. I did not feel the need to use ketchup for the fries. The burger was really good, had crispy edge that makes a smash burger great and the meat itself had good flavor. The milkshake did its job, solid standard milkshake. Pros: Food is made to order. Ability to customize burger toppings. Restaurant has ample space and varied setting choices. Food was hot on delivery. Cons: Would love to see more pop options.(I know many places this is an issue) Community ketchup (this is more of a personal preference). Price - $20 for three menu item. I know the price of everything is up. However, when fast casual restaurants sell items separately (enter,side,drink) and don't offer combos patrons need to take that into consideration. Yum!! Came here after a coworker recommended it and am SO glad I listened. First, I love the ambiance. It's a typical 50s diner setting and super casual. We stopped by Hugh Baby's for a late lunch one day on our way back from the zoo. it is located in an area with multiple shops kind of like a strip mall. When we entered we were immediately greeted and the staff were all friendly. We were unfamiliar with the menu, but I didn't feel rushed to place my order. I ordered a double cheeseburger for myself, a mushroom Swiss for my husband, a drink, and an order of fries to share. They had our food ready faster than I expected! Now to the food- it was excellent! My double cheeseburger was fantastic, it tasted very fresh! My husband enjoyed his as well and his only regret was asking for an additional patty on his. The fries were very good, kind of a shoe-string style. Fresh tasting, the perfect amount of salt, and a good portion is given. Next time we are in Nashville, we will for sure be by again! Me and the wife have had Hugh-baby's before, but this is the first time we've eaten in. The food was pretty solid for what it is, not the best but not the worst. I got a mushroom Swiss burger, with chili cheese fries, and she got the single burger with regular fries and a drink. It's insane to me that two burgers and orders of fries came out to be 33 dollars, guess it's a sign of the times. It's understandable if it's a really good burger, but these are sloppily put together, and overall not that great. I copped a cheeseburger here on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy, but it didn't take long to order. I waited a few minutes and my burger was ready. What they call the comeback sauce was similar to thousand island dressing. The burger wasn't all that big and it was slightly greasy in a good way.
