Donny and his crew(s) did a great number of jobs for me this summer. First, they fixed a walkway and laid sod in the front yard in 1/2 day. Then at a moment's notice repaired an unexpected downspout drainage issue from a previous landscaper the same day. Their ability to help make the repair was incredible. Second, they had to come back to correct my initial landscaper's poor drainage issue which was worse than previously thought. Donny's crew worked hard to undo a mess from someone else, and the price was fair for the work that they were doing. After all the work they did, the crew cleaned up and did not leave a trace of evidence that they were there. The work is solid, and my yard is looking good. The method that Donny's crew used is working perfectly. Overall, their price is reasonable, they are flexible, showed up when they were supposed to, answered my calls/txt quickly, and cleaned up after the jobs were completed. I wouldn't let these guys landscape a dog house. No vision. They planted taller plants in front of anchor plants in front of my house. Also planted one plant here two plants there. Any body with landscape knowledge knows you plant in odd numbers. And to top it off he will not return phone calls. Save your money. The worst out there. read more

I called Mixon for an estimate on reworking and updating the hill in my back yard. The rep came on Wed, Sep 30. He promised an estimate via email by Friday morning. When we had not received it by the following Tuesday, I called to remind him and left a detailed message with the email address, again. He has not had the basic courtesy to respond at all by phone or email. With this lack of business ethic, I would not trust Mixon to complete any job at all. read more

Donny came to my property in August and immediately he understood the issues of my backyard. After meeting with several landscape experts, he impressed me the most and there was no doubt he was the right person for the job. He promised to respond in a few days with a quote. I never heard back from him, even with follow up requests. I didn't appreciate being blown off and can't imagine why he was so nice in person but proceeded to ignore me. read more

I hired Donny and his team to clean out my front yard, level it, install a sprinkler system and put down 20 pallets of grass. This was no small job. When Donny came out, he was personable and honest about everything. He even gave me an install date that was 6 weeks out due to his hectic schedule. I agreed to it. He kept sending me updates to remind me of the date and then showed up on the agreed upon date with his team to get the job done. I went out and spoke with his team and they were a great bunch of guys. It was in the middle of July and they were working hard. He told me it would take 2 days to complete the work and they were done within that time. They were easy to work with and easy to speak with. I made some adjustments on the fly and no one said a thing and they even offered some suggestions. They turned my dumpster looking front yard into a masterpiece. I was very happy when they packed things up and left. I didn't expect my yard to look as good as it does. I've had several complements on my yard since the grass has started to come in. I'm very happy with them and would work with them again. I still have a back yard to do. I received several quotes from other landscapers and Mixon Landscaping was one of the least expensive that I found. read more

I hired Mixon Landscaping to replace an area of bermuda grass with zoysia. Donnie and his crew were wonderful! He was prompt and informative when he came out to give us an estimate and he immediately emailed a proposal of work to be done. I received reminder text messages regularly informing me of the dates work was to be done. On the sod's installation date Carson and his crew were excellent! Mixon Landscaping was hired to fix my backyard after a tree cutting company destroyed it. Donny came out looked and offered a solution that was simple. The date was set to do the job but prior to that Donny came out at my request a couple of times, once before the stumps were ground and once to assess the irrigation system that already existed which I dug up a good portion to track down leaks. This allowed the crew to see where everything was running so they could plan accordingly. On the date of work the crew, equipment and materials showed up reasonably early and began work. Top soil was removed and new dirt was brought in. Trenches for drainage ducting were dug and everything was graded and finished with a rock hound before laying the new zoysia down. Pinestraw was put down around the perimeter and in other existing areas that needed coverage like plant beds (with no plants). Mixon Landscaping did a great job and completed it in roughly 9 hours. The only issue I have is that prior to laying the sod a discussion took place about to add an additional sprinkler head. The crew felt the current configuration was sufficient however as the weeks went by there was an issue with an area not getting sufficient water as a result of not installing the additional sprinkler to water the area. It's been 6 weeks without rain (I know right? what luck), I have been supplemental watering the area while trying to get someone in to add a head. Except for the watering issue which I am working around I would hire Mixon Landscaping for my next project. It was appreciated that Donny would answer my questions, phone calls and come out if asked and the crew was all business. read more

I have never posted anything on this website, but I am compelled to do so today. A neighbor of mine recommended Donnie Mixon for landscaping for some work in my backyard. I left a message for him,the next day he return my call After making a snide comment about me leaving a message at 5:30 which was after hours, he proceeded to ask me what I needed. I went on and on about the various issues in my backyard, and after a minute or so heard no response. I said hello, hello, hello only to realize he was gone. I called back immediately to voicemail. I called back again no answer I called back a third time no answer. I text him and said I called you back three times if you're interested in some business please return my call.No response, after two weeks. Don't know, maybe he just didn't like my voice, if he didn't need to work why did he even call back? Whatever the reason it is a terrible way to do business and I just wanted to put it out there to warn people. Would love to give zero stars, if I could read more

I had the same experience. These guys do not do a good job. They rarely show up when they are supposed to. They do not get the tops of the bushes because they say they are hard to reach (no kidding - that is why we outsource it to the professionals. We are going to cancel our service. read more

Donald Mixon was the most professional of all the landscapers we interviewed. He came the very next day to give us a quote, which also turned out to be the lowest. The crew arrived promptly the morning of our install, everyone was courteous, and they went above and beyond in helping us get our sprinkler system reconnected, Our yard looks great! We did have Mixon Landscaping install sod plus do a few miscellaneous items in our yard. All was not done and we were lied to by the owner. Part of our sprinkler system was broken by the work and he promised to come fix it. The promises continued but he never showed up. We were to go out of town and he said he would fix it while we were gone so that our new, expensive lawn would not die. After I called him (while on vacation) he announced that he was out of town and that we needed to call someone else and pay them to fix it. He was going to let our lawn die and not tell us (luckily, I called him). We were left with no choice. BTW, the lawn was supposed to be installed in late April/early May but wasn't put in until mid June. It had to be watered! There were other problems that were just sloppy but the main thing was the dishonesty. It cost us a lot more money and frustration! read more

I hired Mixon to do my neighborhoods landscape work for our common areas and found them to be very professional, do great work, and actually answer the phone and call you back, which is rare in this business. We hired Donny to clear the brush, grade the property, and lay 4 pallets of sod. He was very professional, timely, and responsive. Throughout the project he continually checked with us to make sure we were happy with the progress. This is 6 months later, and the sod grew in perfectly. I called Mixon landscaping to inquire about sod installation, not only were they unprofessional on the phone, but after I had set up an appointment for measuring my yard, they never called to say they were running late. These guys are the worst landscapers I've ever used. They are supposed to do the maintenance at our home, however they never seem to show up and always have an excuse. Initially I hired them to re landscape my Atlanta home new sod, some plants, and some concrete. At first I thought they were OK but after some time dealing with them I became more dissatisfied. They are very unprofessional. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

He was pushy to start with and I should have taken that as a clue that he would not follow up with only excuses and dismissive arguments. Paid to have to have our existing lawn sprayed to kill and old grass removed. Then paid to have soil prepped - graded, raked, lime, fertilizer and new top soil added before installing and rolling Zenith zoysia sod. The yard looked like crap after being sodded - lots of weeds and spaces between sod patches. Donny said it would get better. One year later we have 60% mud, 35% violets and other weeds (at least they're green) and 5% grassy stuff. read more

I called to inquire about my landscaping needs. The guy I spoke to (Donny) lacked customer service skills. He cut me short and hung up on me after he found out my budget did not meet his expectations. This was very rude and uncalled for. For this reason, I would not recommend this company. read more
