Today I bought 2 hand-made bikini doorstops - made me laugh (kinda reminds me of trying to get my cat out from under the bed, see my photo). And I learned from Amber's Mom about Elf on the Shelf. How could I not have known about this wonderful tradition? You're unlikely to get any stories like this shopping in a big box chain store (or online). I had a great time in here, as always. And I will always come back.

The owner curates an exhibit / shop by finding awesome crafts that you don't typically see at a regular toy store! My personal favorites are: 1) record player that you build on your own with wood pieces like a Lego and it actually plays music when you manually spin the record player! 2) colorful 3D origami. It's so cute and the 3D origami makes your room pop, can easily be used as a room decor! The owner also works with local artists and puts their art work at the shop. One of their room is dedicated for an exhibit. I believe she has different artist every month so check her place out!

Hubbers and I have been finding ourselves in this village way more often in the last couple of…read moremonths vs. the last couple of decades! It's a better late than never kinda thing, I guess? But it has been awhile prior to our first restaurant run. Truly a great beachside destination. Plenty of eateries (and many of them dog friendly!) and shops for everyone's budget. The beach is literally a block or two away and parking isn't horrendously expensive unlike some other beaches or shorelines. (A buck and a half per hour is a steal!) It's a pretty chill and kickback area. Some grub spots have live bands/music you can vibe to. But the best part of the village is definitely walking by the shores! The views. Of the water alongside the mountains are breathtaking. I imagine the best time to come through is during the spring and summer. We have yet to experience the area during the fall and winter seasons. We do intend to find out, though! Will update as needed!

The atmosphere felt cozy and energetic at the same time with music, friendly voices, and the smell of fresh food filling the air. Teenagers would love how easy it is to explore because everything is close together and full of personality. The service at the small shops felt personal and welcoming which made the whole experience feel more meaningful. The value was impressive because there were many affordable treats and unique items that did not feel overpriced. The quality of the stores and food stands was high and everything felt thoughtfully arranged. The selection was wide enough to keep teenagers entertained whether they wanted snacks, clothes, handmade items, or just a fun place to walk. I have only been there once before writing this review but it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable places I have visited. I highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a chance to feel independent, creative, and connected to a lively community.

Grateful my friend has a daughter who lives in town and suggested it; otherwise, I never would have noticed it. Even though it was a Sunday morning, we immediately found seats inside. Of course it was a cheery yellow interior with lots of floral accents, hence "Yellow Vase." After perusing the extensive menu at our table, we realized we had to order and pay at the counter, where they were doing a bustling business with tempting pastries and fresh java. They gave us a number to place on our table to let them know where to deliver our food. My old pal from high school (Yes, we've known each other for DECADES!), always leans towards lox for breakfast. It was no surprise that she ordered the Smoked Salmon Plate ($16.95). The salmon arrived on a fresh French baguette with capers, red onion, tomatoes and cream cheese. I like variety, so the 2 by 2 ($16.95) was right up my alley. The two pieces of French toast were homemade perfection. So were the two scrambled eggs, the two chicken sausages and the rosemary potatoes. What an ample, delicious brunch. We were too busy catching up to photograph our meal, though. Sorry, 'cause it was pretty! Just wish the water cups were larger as we had to make several trips to the H20 station for refills. Follow the yellow brick road - I mean Catalina Avenue - and go!
