We love Yellow Vase. This is our first visit to this location. It is small but has indoor and outdoor seating with paid street parking. It is located on Catalina in the middle of many cute retail shops and more. They have a lovely extensive menu that will have you perplexed between breakfast or lunch choices. The coffee is a great blend whether you choose drip or an espresso. This location also offers floral arrangements in a cold case too. Between the four of us we ordered bacon and eggs which was cooked perfectly, french onion soup (so tasty), cobb salad and the pesto panini. We needed to kill a little time and walked in here for either a light bite or coffee because its such a cute little cafe. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, all decorated on theme. The cafe is very yellow, with lemon trees painted up the walls even. I had heard this place wasn't very good and we weren't too hungry after all so we just grabbed coffee. My friend got a honey vanilla latte and I got the peppermint mocha. Both came in large mugs and were absolutely perfect for what we wanted, though a bit sugary sweet, but still delightful. This Yellow Vase in the Riviera Village has been here for a long, long time. I've been coming here since it first opened. I feel like it was one of the first ones to open in the South Bay. It's always fairly busy. Ever since, Yellow Vases have been popping up all over this area, left and right. You don't have to drive far to find one. I came here after I had my hair done at the salon next door. I ordered a muffin and latte. They always create pretty designs in my lattes, usually a daisy. Whereas the bakery items aren't bad, I wouldn't really recommend the food plates. They're not very good. They have plenty of comfortable seating, both indoors and outdoors. I'm a huge iced tea fan. They have great green iced tea. However, when I asked for a refill they literally filled half of it with water. The guy at the counter seemed confused by my request and asked me a couple of times to confirm. I have no idea what the problem was. If they don't do refills, they should have told me. If they didn't have enough tea, they should have told me. But to fill it half with water, is appalling to me. I've never seen that before and calls into question a lot about this restaurant for me. I happened to visit the Rancho Palos Verdes location the week before and had the opposite very good experience there. No problem on the ice tea refill and the food was good. Hope the owner reads these reviews and addresses the comments made here not only mine. Be better. read more

This was the first Yellow Vase to open up in Southbay many years ago. Located in Riviera Village, it was and is a great addition to the community. It has always been a great place to grab your bakery items, your lattes, and other drinks, and your flowers. Over the many years that this Yellow Vase has been in business at this location it is not vastly changed. It has remained pretty much the same place with the same vibes as it had one and very first opened. In terms of parking, your best bet is to grab one of the metered street parking spots, or one over in the main lot created for Riviera Village. Overall, just like all the other Yellow Vase locations, this business offers what they offer. Good place to stop by and have just that. read more

I didn't think I could love the color yellow any more than I already do. Then I met the Yellow Vase. Just walking in makes you feel happy. The food is SOOOO good. Order what you like at the front and take your number to where you want to sit. Ate outside on the patio and it was so lovely and shaded. Park in the nearby by lot and walk a block over (meter parking). The hardest part was trying to choose between breakfast food and lunch food. I want it all. The food was top notch. Mmm. Spot on with the flavor, a perfect cup to start my morning. The garden crepe was delicious. I loved that the asparagus was cut into small bite-sized pieces, which gave the crepe a perfect crunch. I ordered the Matcha Iced Latte (~less than $4) and the Californian Omelette ($15). My friend ordered a latte, fruit tart, and Smoked Salmon Crepe ($15, not pictured). The portion sizes are very generous and filling. Service: The food came out very quickly! We got our drinks within minutes from ordering, and food about 5 minutes after that. You take one of their menus and order and pay at the counter. You seat yourself and they bring the food to you if you are dining in. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. I came for a late lunch with friends and ordered the California Chicken Panini. It was good, but honestly, I liked the paninis at Corner Bakery more. The chicken was sorta dry and it was served on a French baguette. A mixed green salad is served with the panini which was heavily dressed. I didn't have any of their pastries or desserts but they did look tasty. I did have their chocolate chip cookie which was nothing special. Yellow Vase is a nice spot to stop in for a break and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a pastry, dessert or snack.
