The Mandarin salad for the win (add avocado.) Delish and seems big but if you're normal level hungry it's perfect. And considering avg costs it's reasonably priced. Tons of seating both in and outdoor. The free cucumber mint water was refreshing. They have a restroom too for those visiting La Brea Tarpits and seeking a decent bathroom. This was my first time going to Mixt, and was positively overwhelmed by the many salad options, it was so hard to choose! Luckily the workers happily let me know how to order. I especially love how accessible the options are, offering selections for those who are gluten-free, vegetarian, etc. FOOD: -Jing's Chili Crisp The workers did forget to include the chicken in my salad, and when I pointed it out they immediately gave me a serving of it which I was thankful for. Service is absolutely awful. They mess up my order every time I order from here and unfortunately they don't have a phone so you're pretty much stuck. The two men running the salad line we're pushy and acted like I was inconveniencing then when there was one other person in line... I got a build your own salad and added chicken. As usual, the food is high quality, fresh and healthy. Their vegetables are distinctively fresh. The salads are not cheap but the portions are generous (even for an 8-month pregnant lady like myself). I cannot overstated how much they truly understand the art of putting a good salad together. Don't expect the typical boring salad here. Their salads have crisp, crunch, protein, flavor and that extra push to make them heartier & more filling than your average salad. I really like the make it yourself salad places, so Mixt Green came up on my Yelp search. This location is in mid-Wilshire, right by the La Brea Tar Pits. I read other reviews that said that parking was awful here and the day that I came they had Framers Market across the street. Bleh. I thankfully found street parking across the street and walked over. The inside is super cute, had an airy feeling to it. I looked at the menu and they had a build it yourself and pre-fixe salad options. The build it yourself seemed a little expensive if you want to add on things. I decided on one of the pre-fixe, the Cobb salad. The guy was super nice and since I didn't want cheese, he let me pick another ingredient. I got my salad and wandered outside to the outdoor table. My salad was super fresh tasting and I liked the dressing they had on the salad. It was also the perfect amount of food. Mixt is definitely one of my favorite salad places in LA! I went in for the first time after a morning workout. They open at 11am so I waited a couple of minutes outside for them to open. Once they opened, I was greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered the orchard salad (most popular) and also the elote salad (seasonal summer menu). The gentleman who prepared my salads was extremely helpful and nice, he even told me about the Mixt app. I downloaded the app and got a free lemonade! Yes, the salads do seem pricey (2 salads were almost $30) but it is so worth it. Big portion sizes and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend mixt as they have a large variety of things to choose from. I hope they open up more locations in LA. read more

I cheated on Sweetgreen and went here. In comparison they're almost the same when it comes to price and ingredients. I thiiink I prefer Sweetgreen however. I ordered a Zesty bowl with chicken. It's an overpriced bowl with quinoa, greens, oranges, feta, chicken, and a zesty vinaigrette. I didn't notice until I glanced over at my friend's bowl (I know, cardinal sin here), but his turkey was obvious. My chicken however, was nonexistent. I went back and brought this up and had a chicken breast placed in my to-go container. So. Here's the thing. I wasn't asked if I wanted a bowl or to go container (I would have preferred a bowl versus wasting plastic). If I were taking my order to go, I would have been royally upset to have spent almost $20 on just greens and quinoa. You can go for the menu toppings and even add more to suit your taste. Another time I got the Rooster sandwich. This I recommend this more than the salads. Besides it comes with a salad on the side. This is my favorite salad lunch spot! There are many options and the line moves fairly quickly. My current favorite salads are the Be Well with chicken or steak and the Elote seasonal salad. This place is better than any Sweetgreen I've been to for a couple of reasons. First, the salads are more hearty and there are more options. Second, I think it tastes better especially the dressings. Third, this place is way better staffed. The customer service here makes me prefer it over Sweetgreen. However, Mixt is only open during lunch time on the weekdays so I do go to Sweetgreen when it's not open. I live walking distance for here so I don't have to deal with parking. So when I started my job across the street a few months ago, my co worker raved about this place. I am not generally a huge health nut and definitely not a salad person so I was skeptical. After about 2 months of me eating at every where else on the street, and her consistently eating here, she let me try some of her salad one day. (I believe it was the 'Be Well') It was really good but I commented on how I wish I could get the quinoa with certain ingredients and the dressing without all the greens. Well literally a few days later she comes back to the office and says "MIXT GREENS HAS GRAIN BOWLS NOW" so of course I felt obligated to try...bad mistake...because now I am addicted It started with the Sombrero Bowl which was mexican chorizo, black beans, cherry tomatoes, cabbage, pumpkin seeds, sharp cheddar, fresh cilantro, scallions, cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette. It was perfection-- SOO good! I ate it so much my co workers now call me the Quinoa Queen.... well after the new year I decided to try and be more low carb, so my new go to is the Orchard salad, which is greens, grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, seasonal apple, sharp cheddar, avocado, toasted almonds, savory herbs, balsamic vinaigrette--I don't get the apple, and I sub for the cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. All of the Salad artistes here vary on how they make their salads, so if you go as often as I do you'll learn each one's style- because they can be really different on how much dressing they consider "medium" or the order of ingredients they use makes a difference too. (I swear I'm really not picky, but honestly it makes a difference) My personal fave is Julio! He's so nice and consistently gets my order right, but they're all really nice! I'm so glad I discovered this place after they came to a health fair being held on campus. Tried the Cowboy, which surpassed expectations. Thought it was gonna be just your everyday regular salad and I only grabbed one on my way to class because I'd skipped lunch that day, but it turned out to be a happy accident because this is my new go-to salad place. Everything tasted fresh as can be and the flavors all complimented each other perfectly. The roasted red peppers, chipotle honey glazed chicken and blue cheese dressing made a delightful combination of sweet + savory. They also put a lot of red onions, which I normally don't like but had to admit, contributed well to the juiciness/sweetness of the salad. As far as salad-centric lunch places go this is pretty solid. I mean, it's no California Chicken Cafe but not many places are IMHO. So I usually get the mixt cobb but have tried their Disco (roasted chicken), turkey sandwiches and the vegetarian Be Wello (I'm not vegetarian but sometimes I like to experiment). Their other main thing is that you can build your own salad from like the 100 ingredients they have laid out before them. So, imagine a wall of various lettuce bases (butter, romaine, mixed, etc) behind them and a ton of added proteins in containers before them. You can start mixing and matching from here but it can get kind of pricey after just a few ala carte options. All excellent, all delicious. Just kinda wish it was a little more... Cali Chix Cafe-ish.
