I drove all the way here for the main pizzas/pastas for my birthday, but we were only limited to breakfast food and burgers on a weekend afternoon. Also, I understand that weekends get busy, but our server did not check on us at least once. They were only present to take our orders and then drop off the check. As a former server myself, I am very aware of these things. It appeared that there was some down time to check on a simple 2-top as she was walking up and down scanning the tables. I can say that this is not reflective of the previous times I've dined here as the service has always been very pleasant, and the food never disappoints. For minimum $20 per entree, you would expect the servers to check-in on how the table finds their food and whether or not there is something they can provide to make it better.

There's apparently a small restroom, but I didn't check it out. The staff is very friendly. I ordered the Peach and Mango Glow smoothie, which was tasty and just what I wanted more substantial than the juice, but lighter than their protein shakes. It is a bit pricey for what it is, but I suppose you're paying for the ambience and location as well.

The line moved fairly quickly and I could see the staff inside working as a well-oiled chicken caesar wrapping machine. There are a few tables outside but my friend and I made do on some of the chairs. It was HARD to balance a wrap, the box with chips, and a drink. I started with the carrot, orange, ginger juice. I loved tasting a hint of warmth from the ginger, and the juice was well-balanced otherwise, between the tart orange and sweet carrot. For $18 you get a chicken caesar wrap and paprika fries. The wrap is a pretty decent size and the chicken is quite tender and flavorful. The caesar dressing and parm are funky and the lettuce is crisp. Turns out I don't like caesar salad as much as I'd thought, so I probably would not get this again, but I can appreciate that this was a solid wrap. Would have liked the lettuce chopped smaller, for better mouthfeel and easier eating. The chips were unfortunately so gross to me. They were quite hard and thick, and coated on both sides with a second skin of paprika. Now I consider myself a paprika lover, but even I don't like it to this extent. The chips just tasted very bitter to me, with an unpalatable texture from the sheer amount of powder on each chip. Overall my lunch at Mama's was rather whelming. I think I would be interested in trying some of their other wraps or breakfast items, but I would avoid the chips in the future.

I'm not usually one to comment about the price of things like this, but genuinely this is nearly double the price of Sweetgreen or MIXT for virtually the same product.

Why are online orders prioritized over in-person orders? Why do I stand here waiting for minutes before being acknowledged? Why are you out of bread at 5:30pm? These are a few questions I ask myself when I visit the marina location of Mixt. If we're rating the salads alone, the rating would be higher as the ingredients are fresh, suggested salads are tasty, and prices are in line with competitors. That said, the complete lack of attention to customers at the marina location borders on disrespectful. If I thought I was alone in this, I wouldn't be writing a review but everyone awaiting acknowledgement with me is similarly looking at their watch or walking out like I've done a few times. When I've reached out to the company privately on Instagram, my concerns were met with a similar attitude of ambivalence that I encounter in the store. I'm writing this because my cashier today was great. She mentioned writing a review because she was new and wanted to impress her boss. Hope this makes it there. She was very attentive and brought me and my wife out silverware as we were sitting outside. Another lady came out and asked if we wanted heaters on, loved that! I got a market trio, the broccoli is delicious and she got a Golden State Warrior salad. The chef did mention that the dressing in the salad had a lot of sugar, but she loved it! Overall my experience was great and the girls up front were very nice, the man that made my wife's salad was very quick, quicker than we were ready for but overall such good food. Unfortunately, our experience is that it's been kind of spotty. 40% of the time, the meat is over-fried and a bit dry. If it's gonna be like that at $3/piece, we may as well get McNuggets. We're low-key making note of the times of order to try to figure out a pattern for when the kitchen would be at their peak performance haha. Also, the more upsetting part - we'd frequently get tiny pieces. For $3 per piece, you'd think the sizes would all be respectable... or if there's a smaller piece, at least throw in two of those so their sizes add up to a normal one. But we'd get multiple already-below-average pieces PLUS a half-size piece :(

Plenty of the weekday office crowd come to Proper Foods for their grab and go items (everything at Proper Foods is designed for grab and go) and it usually empties out in the evenings. A top notch spot for if want a fresh meal, and want extremely fast grab and go food in the day (yes, it looks like a long line at lunch, but it goes fast), or to get a premade meal to stash for lunch later. The downside is Proper Foods is pricier. As you walk up to the checkout counter, one whole wall of the store is for chilled grab and go items and you can grab entrees (everything from salads, to rice dishes, to salmon entrees) along with sides. The sides are fun, such as additional meat for your salad if you think it looks too small or could use something extra. However, all items are on the pricier side, especially the add-on extras which can quickly add up to the point you might as well just have gotten another entree. Another neat convenience is Proper Foods offers to heat up your food for you as you check out, and they wrap the package in a foil to keep it hot as you travel with it. To-go items (silverware, napkins, etc) are by the entrance/exit. You pay a premium for Proper Foods super quick grab and go (and optionally, have them heat it for you). It's saved me a few times when I had really tight times between meetings, or needed to swipe a lunch to put in the fridge. However, it'll run you a few dollars more, and there's plenty of other slightly slower locations around the area if you can squeeze a few more minutes out of your calendar for your lunch break.
