Overall, Quick casual spot for Mexican food. More elevated than a chipotle. I really like the surf and turf bowl with both the steak and the shrimp. Shrimp was nice and tender. The trace slice cheesecake was also a good dessert but I do prefer it to be more spongy and airy. Very fast service!

Mixteco is by far the highest quality fast casual restaurant around - prices are only marginally more expensive than your major chains too. I've tried a bunch of different items and they've always been great! Service is always impressively fast, even when they're super busy. Great value, strongly recommend!

Great spot for a quick meal. Love that they have a kiosk to order and includes a rewards program. Service is quick, maybe waited 5-7 minutes around dinner time. The food itself was great and just what I was looking for in a nacho platter, perfect portion and didn't skimp on the toppings! Little pricey at $16 but I suppose I would've paid that at a sit down restaurant as well.

Birthday lunch spicy and lots of chicken and bacon It's my first choice on a short lunch break but with full of flavor.

    Where's the rice?

This place used to be one of our favorites in the neighborhood, but I don't know if it's new employees or new management but it's going downhill and not worth it anymore. 1. I don't know if their air conditioning is broken or what, but it is uncomfortably hot in there. The ceiling fans are BARELY blowing which makes me worry about the temperature of the food in the "kitchen". 2.. Ordering a bowl (with rice) used to be something to look forward to. They charge $16 for a surf and turf bowl and now with BARELY any rice!!!!! $16 and you give like 3 grains of rice. Before we used to be able to see the rice in the bowl... now? nothing. 3. Why are you giving people to-go food in a bowl with a top that does not fit? Getting home and the bowl have food falling out of it? That is CRAZY! when I tell the girl at the counter she plays like an airhead and giggles saying "oh I don't order that stuff" so even if you don't order it LET MANAGEMENT KNOW ITS A PROBLEM. And she claims she has but I'm sure that's bs. I asked if a manager was there and she said "well we have one and he's not here". I'm not sure if she's just playing an airhead or really is one. Last time I came in a police officer was in there for clearly and investigation and the same airhead was acting like she doesn't know the managers name. You cannot have someone THAT incompetent being the person your customer interact with! And 4. we used to love ordering the soup as well. Two days in a row (because someone in our home is sick) we ordered the soup and the soup was not at all hot either day!! Before it used to come in a black container and been so nice and hot and good. Now it's $10 for a soup and there's BARELY any soup so $31 for all of this.. and customer service is horrible. There's no way that getting half portions should cost this much! And yes there are pictures to prove it. They used to be a good place, and we found it somewhat worth the money. But now? It's definitely not worth it at ALL!!

Let's begin by saying this meal was better than any Mexican meal I've eaten in Milwaukee. I know that's a fairly low bar, but after 7 years there I really needed some well made Mexican late night fare. I had a veggie burrito that was really delicious. Fresh, well prepared, and savory. I also downed a bag of tortilla chips and queso. So, in less than 30 minutes I was able to eat all the calories for the whole weekend. And, I don't regret a thing. The place is similar to fast-food joint but with more kindness and atmosphere. If I lived in Chicago, this would be a great go-to spot every once in awhile.

Build Your Bowl. I ordered cilantro, corn, lettuce, tomatoes, and white rice. The main topping includes tofu.

On a Tuesday evening, we wanted to make an evening of Taco Tuesday. We immediately thought of Mixteco Mexican Grill. For my order, I decided on "Build Your Own Bowl". With this bowl I chose tofu, white rice, green tomatillo, salsa, chipotle aioli, jack cheddar cheese, lettuce, cold slaw, cilantro, tomatoes, and corn. It tasted heavenly. Joseph ordered the chips and one vegetarian burrito. He said it tasted fine. I give the service an A. The staff works together quickly. Even though customers could eat at Mixteco Mexican Grill, the ambiance felt casual and relaxed. When customers come in, they can go to a kiosk and place their orders with the kitchen staff. Located near the Belmont train station, take the Red, Brown or Purple lines. Come to Mixteco Mexican Grill. Bring friends, family and even a date.

This was an upscale fast food place with counter service. The fried fish taco was amazing. The salsas were good and the carne asada and chicken tacos were fine - both definitely needed salsa. It is a good place to grab a taco if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth traveling if you have a closer taco place.

On our way to some bar hopping on Halsted, we saw this fast food Mexican restaurant and I got a craving for a burrito.... The restaurant menu is varied...with bowls, burritos, tacos, etc... The prices are very reasonable and the staff behind the counter was really nice and courteous. I got my Works Burrito and it was really good...not bad for a fast food joint !

Very under rated spot. Anyone who likes a burrito should check this place out. I went for lunch and was the only one there. The space is very clean and organized - nice spots to sit near the window and look out to the street. Service was very easy and quick - no table service so you just pick up food at the front and take it to your seat. Always a nice treat when the presentation of the food is good along with the taste!

Mixteco is my go-to place whenever I want to get quick delivery and I know will be tasty. I love getting the grilled chicken burrito because I can easily get two meals out of it if I order the meal or pair it with tortilla chips. Plus I love that it comes with avocado in the burrito and it isn't extra. I have also tried their quesadilla and I was easily able to get two solid meals from the dish without having to get a full meal. I prefer the burrito more but they tend to give a lot of rice so there has been times when the protein settles at the bottom so you don't get a good balance of ingredients. That is the one con of Mixteco Mexican Grill especially if you are paying extra for protein and the rice ratio is still high. The price of the food is pretty reasonable in comparison to what's around the restaurant. The quesadilla was probably the best bang for your buck if you are on a budget. Sometimes when I am feeling like a treat I order a side of churros which are fantastic. They are always fresh and come with a chocolate syrup dipping sauce which is addicting! I highly recommend Mixteco Mexican Grill if you don't have the time to have a sit down meal.

Time to be seated was less than five minutes for a party of four around 2:20 PM on a Sunday; busier times or days enforce their 90 minute time limit policy per table. The food was well seasoned, wish I tasted it a little more on the meat itself, yet all the vegetables tasted crisp and fresh. If you are looking to have intimate conversations be prepared to speak a lot louder, the DJ booth by the front keeps it pretty lively, but difficult to hold conversations across the table. Open authentic Mexican soda is always refreshing, and if you're looking for a place that has soft serve margaritas this is one of them. If you notice and unusual wait time or slow service please make your choice accordingly as I started to notice it was a case by case basis like some of the previous reviews had mentioned.
