Let's begin by saying this meal was better than any Mexican meal I've eaten in Milwaukee. I know that's a fairly low bar, but after 7 years there I really needed some well made Mexican late night fare. I had a veggie burrito that was really delicious. Fresh, well prepared, and savory. I also downed a bag of tortilla chips and queso. So, in less than 30 minutes I was able to eat all the calories for the whole weekend. And, I don't regret a thing. The place is similar to fast-food joint but with more kindness and atmosphere. If I lived in Chicago, this would be a great go-to spot every once in awhile.

Build Your Bowl. I ordered cilantro, corn, lettuce, tomatoes, and white rice. The main topping includes tofu.

On a Tuesday evening, we wanted to make an evening of Taco Tuesday. We immediately thought of Mixteco Mexican Grill. For my order, I decided on "Build Your Own Bowl". With this bowl I chose tofu, white rice, green tomatillo, salsa, chipotle aioli, jack cheddar cheese, lettuce, cold slaw, cilantro, tomatoes, and corn. It tasted heavenly. Joseph ordered the chips and one vegetarian burrito. He said it tasted fine. I give the service an A. The staff works together quickly. Even though customers could eat at Mixteco Mexican Grill, the ambiance felt casual and relaxed. When customers come in, they can go to a kiosk and place their orders with the kitchen staff. Located near the Belmont train station, take the Red, Brown or Purple lines. Come to Mixteco Mexican Grill. Bring friends, family and even a date.

This was an upscale fast food place with counter service. The fried fish taco was amazing. The salsas were good and the carne asada and chicken tacos were fine - both definitely needed salsa. It is a good place to grab a taco if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth traveling if you have a closer taco place.

On our way to some bar hopping on Halsted, we saw this fast food Mexican restaurant and I got a craving for a burrito.... The restaurant menu is varied...with bowls, burritos, tacos, etc... The prices are very reasonable and the staff behind the counter was really nice and courteous. I got my Works Burrito and it was really good...not bad for a fast food joint !

Very under rated spot. Anyone who likes a burrito should check this place out. I went for lunch and was the only one there. The space is very clean and organized - nice spots to sit near the window and look out to the street. Service was very easy and quick - no table service so you just pick up food at the front and take it to your seat. Always a nice treat when the presentation of the food is good along with the taste!

Mixteco is my go-to place whenever I want to get quick delivery and I know will be tasty. I love getting the grilled chicken burrito because I can easily get two meals out of it if I order the meal or pair it with tortilla chips. Plus I love that it comes with avocado in the burrito and it isn't extra. I have also tried their quesadilla and I was easily able to get two solid meals from the dish without having to get a full meal. I prefer the burrito more but they tend to give a lot of rice so there has been times when the protein settles at the bottom so you don't get a good balance of ingredients. That is the one con of Mixteco Mexican Grill especially if you are paying extra for protein and the rice ratio is still high. The price of the food is pretty reasonable in comparison to what's around the restaurant. The quesadilla was probably the best bang for your buck if you are on a budget. Sometimes when I am feeling like a treat I order a side of churros which are fantastic. They are always fresh and come with a chocolate syrup dipping sauce which is addicting! I highly recommend Mixteco Mexican Grill if you don't have the time to have a sit down meal.

Great Mexico fast food stop, delivery, tech savy, easy self serve. The food is really good. Fresh tasting, crisp distinct flavors. I bounce around the menu and everything has be above satisfactory. When you dine in they do a nice job plating. I prefer them better than the national chains in the area. Close to lots of nightlife. Great option good quality quick meal.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it! Try this little gem--you won't regret it.

We walked in around 9 on a Saturday morning and were sat pretty quickly. Love the old skool diner vibes inside. We sat at the counter and met Cortland, this man seems like a legend. What an excellent rec, that multigrain is very very good, I'll most likely be getting that every time. He also explained all the sauces in the little sauce basket to us and I'm so glad he did bc every single sauce is inventive and delicious. This place is worth the hype, great southwest menu, reminded me of Austin, with subtle hints to El Paso, and Santa Fe. Great influences! I started with a sparkling water, a cold brew, and we shared Al pastor fries. The fries were flavored with Al Pastor, a served with a mayo (maybe chipotle). They were very tasty. I got the traditional breakfast with potatoes, over easy eggs, and both refried beans and avocado. It was great, the eggs were well cooked and my yolks broke open exposing their delicious yellow juice perfectly. The potatoes were crispy and the refried beans (black beans) were perfect, salty, and smooth. They also have two hot sauces one is pineapple and they have a chili oil at the table. I was looking for more heat / a more intense hot sauce but they were tasty. My partner got the fried chicken covered in gravy. It came with some spring veggies, peas, and onion. Everything was good, portions were big, and the food was fresh. Definitely recommend coming here and even if you have to wait, it's worth it!

We've been in twice in the last 4-5 months, and I like the indoor-outdoor space on nicer days. The value proposition on this menu is terrible unless you come in for happy hour (4-6 PM), and even then, the appetizers are so tiny that they end up being food for one, not many. The margs aren't bad and the "pizzadillas" are the go-to for the group because that ends up being a decent deal when looking to entertain the group. I don't have any service issues, and Texan's location is perfect for "let's start here then go down the street." I visited recently on a rainy day and noticed water leaking inside the building and by leaking I mean it was literally raining inside. Unfortunately, I remember seeing the same issue last summer, which is a bit concerning from a safety and upkeep standpoint there's literally wires and heaters the water is pouring out next to. The music was also extremely loud, making it difficult to have a conversation, and the sound quality from the speakers was not very clear felt like listening to nails on a chalkboard. On a positive note, the service was excellent. The drink selection is somewhat mediocre, but the draft margaritas are very good. The food menu is weird, those looking for more traditional tacos may not find them here. I think simple would get them a lot further.
