I can't hype up this place enough... recently moved to the area and this was actually the first place I tried haha I did not regret it one bit. We recently moved from Pilsen so that was really what we were comparing it to & this place felt like home. A home cooked meal. I'm happy that I only live a block away so I could be a regular here. Looking forward to the next time I come by & showing my friends / family! Something that would have potentially made this place a 10/10 is a complementary chips & salsa like old school restaurants/back in the day when dining in. We order Two Taco Dinner & a Chimichanga, that came out to around $25. Not too shabby in this economy. They also have Horchata Fresa!! This spot is a neighborhood staple and one of my go-to places for quick, delicious Mexican food. Everything I've tried from the menu has been packed with flavor and served promptly. The staff are efficient, friendly, and clearly know their regulars. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Steak Burrito and Steak Taco Salad--both were excellent. Don't forget to ask for the green salsa. While I typically grab my orders to go, the restaurant offers plenty of space for dining in. And, of course, the advantage of unlimited salsa. read more

It's not fancy but it will rock your world. One of the best al pastor I've ever had in my life. I've been going to this place for years but for some reason never reviewed it. The staff is always friendly but it's basically counter service. Order your food and pick it up with the counter. They have styrofoam cups but your plates are this sort of bakelite or polycarbonate, which is better than paper! What gives this place five stars is the quality of the food, absolutely superbible. The ambiance is classic taqueria with fluorescent lighting, open until 3:00. A.m.. Parking is pretty easy with meters on the street. Don't let the utilitarian vibe scare you away because the food quality is first class. read more

This is the one to get as it's super juicy and flavorful Fish taco: Skip Fish is kinda dry and usually if it's in a taco it should be batter fried I think. Carne Asada: Get It's kinda similar to al pastor but ultimately I'd prefer the other Walk in take out order took less than 10 minutes and getting the dinner plate was nice to have rice and beans as sides. Great, cheap burrito dinner. They're a little haphazard with their go-to packaging, or maybe it's just a delivery guy issue. Also their tacos, (at least, the chicken ones) are super gringo, with melted cheese, tomato, lettuce, sour cream, etc. It's a fricking amazing chicken taco though. Definitely recommend, if you aren't expecting, like, super high end, Mexican food. read more

Nothing special. The portion of the meat was on the light side. Mostly filled with lettuce and beans but flavor was okay. But service was extremely quick and efficient, workers seem nice and for the burrito only being under $10 it is definitely worth it if you're looking for a quick bite to eat while also saving some money. This is my go to taco place. Me n my sis have been coming here for years, and the service has always been very hospitable. I always get the chicken taco dinner with added avocado, and it always hits the spot. I just recently started getting the tamales, and I find that they have a hint of sweetness to them which is certainly different. In total this order was $19, so reasonably priced. read more

Yes the food was amazing and the swerve was incredible. I learned a lot from my culture and incredibly so.

Had a "quesadilla" and a carne asada taco. The quesadilla was actually just a taco on a flour tortilla. It was still good though, just not what I ordered. The taco was gross. The meat was flavorless and chewy and so was the corn tortilla. All for about $3.50. The staff was very nice and the service was fast. Will not be back. read more

This place is great for a cheap fast casual burrito for take out or dine in! they are quick and delicious. I got the burrito Suiza and my husband got the Torta which were both good. Only complaint is that they do not have reusable silverware and cups - everything is disposable. read more

Tried this last night at the recommendation of a friend. Good old taco made fresh. The Carne Asada was so awesome it didn't make it to the photo op. The tortillas don't break out and fairly thicker than usual I think also not oily, nor wet. The fish tacos are a bit too seasoned for my taste but I'm sure will be lovely to those who don't watch their sodium in take lol. The place is clean, good A/C and service is quick. Realistically, I'd only come to this place if I was drunk which is usually what happens because 1) it's within a 10-15 minute walk of Boystown, and 2) it's open late. I wouldn't say this is that great of Mexican food by any means, but everything tastes better when you drink, so it's not that serious. The staff is usually friendly considering all of the annoying people they get late at night, so that's a plus, and they allow you to dine in that late (yes, looking at you Windy City Gyro across the street. Love their food, but those jerks FORCE you to order on a food app to only pick up your food and then you're stuck outside waiting for someone to let you into their place. Super sus!). Anyways, glad this option exists considering way too much of Chicago closes early for no reason when there's thousands of people trying to eat their drunk asses away late at night. read more

Quick, tasty, but not as cheap as you'd think a grease trap like this would be. The employees seem friendly and are cool with special requests. The presentation is nice, and the dinners come with beans and rice (no chip, though). Note for future: they don't give out tap water, so literally nothing in here is free. read more

Two words: hidden gem! I cannot believe that I only just discovered Taco & Burrito House over the last few months. I was finally able to check out Taco & Burrito House when I was out and about. I was starving and never noticed the restaurant before but my hunger helped me look past the inside of the restaurant. The inside is what you would expect from a neighborhood cheap taco joint. There is ample sitting but the inside is a little outdated and could use a fresh coat of paint with some new sitting. The food is priced fairly cheap which means you can try many of the items on their menu. My go to item is the is the steak burrito. The make sure to give you ample steak which will have you leaving very satisfied. I would recommend stopping by if you find yourself in the neighborhood! read more

Got carry out here on the Saturday when st Patrick's day was being observed (green river and all) since any place serving alcohol was jammed pack with drunk celebrants. It was very good. I got the burrito suprema with chorizo and it was delicious- salsa verde on top was tangy and not too spicy, and chorizo was spicy enough and not too greasy. Husband got pastor burrito dinner with the red sauce and cheese on top and enjoyed it as well- he said the rice and beans were also good. Quick service and very reasonable prices. read more

The neighborhood raves about this place, but when we tried it seemed like the complete opposite unfortunately. We ordered combo meals and the gent said it didn't come with drinks (it does). We get our meals and the food overall was kinda average. Cool drunk food or if you're on a budget perhaps. Here's the best part - I bit into a burrito and it had what seemed to be a bread tie in my burrito. Extremely unacceptable. Experience all in all was pretty bad, I'd try it again and give them another shot but don't wanna risk my health. Such a lovely place to visit. Recently I stopped by to get some tacos and it was a great experience. Can't say I'm a big fan of Mexico cuisine but when it comes to tacos I feel like I'm ready to eat it each day and my craving seems never end. I ordered tacos for myself and it was great as usual. Staff took my order quickly and it didn't take long to get my food ready. Buns were fresh and chicken was tender and spicy as I like it. I downed it right away on my way home as I was a bit hungry. I must say customer service is pretty good. Staff was friendly and helpful with me. And what's more all quarantine rules were followed. Staff was wearing masks and gloves. As someone who's from Texas, I know a thing or two about solid Mexican food. And this place has it. Taco & Burrito House is a nice little hidden gem in the Boystown/Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago. It's a bit away from the train stations but street-side (paid) parking is available. The food is cheap and delicious. Staff is down-to-earth and helpful. There's really no complaints about this place. Oh, and did I mention that you can get FREE REFILLS WITH HORCHATA here? I think the food is pretty great, being from southern Arizona/Tucson it's actually one of the first places nearby to really satisfy me like Nico's or Los Betos. This was my first time here and I was starving. I ordered 3 carne asada tacos to go. I was helped right away and my order was ready within 10 minutes. Tacos were $2.85 each, they have a minimum order of $7 to use a debit card. Most taco places charge $2.50+ and only comes with cheese. This place has sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and hot sauce. Their green and red sauces are really good. The red hot sauce has a nice kick to it and complements the tacos well.
